Do you think the E-trac is worth the extra money over the X-terra? It seems like X-terra can get similar depth and also can spot targets in amongst the trash, but it doesn't have all the bells and whistles like the E-trac. The question is are they really necessary? There is such a large price difference...can it be justified?
@TheJohnmusk With the X-Terra's standard concentric coil, I don't think the X-Terra can hold its own. With a DD the X-Terra's a better machine. To be honest I had only about 60 hours on my X-Terra before switching over to the E-Trac, but I have run side by side and most of the results are just learning the machine.
On the X-Terra a deep coin hit will seem like trash numbers, but with the E-Trac its usually loud and clear. I don't know if this answers your ? or not, but I hope it helps.
Thanks Neb. Yes it answered my question. I've used a Sovereign XS for years but I'd like to upgrade to something with an ID and less cumbersome. The huge bankroll that Minelab demands for the E-trac is really bothering me, I hate to overspend to get something I rdon't need. I'm thinking Tek T2, Fisher F-75, X-terra or E-trac. I don't like the "beep" detectors much, I prefer the sounds that Minelab machines make. So I think the X-terra is a better buy at < $450 used.
My mistake nebtrac, didnt realise you were running sunray probe.hope to see more of your vids soon.have you had a look at mlo its a great site devoted only to minelabs.regards Guy.
nebtrac liked the video m8,but have noticed that u have ur coil cable wrapped around the stem like on the xterra,i to use an Etrac and the cable is meant to go in the hole at the bottom of the lower stem and run up inside so that its hidden.regards Guy.
@Guyzer36 Thanks for the comment. I use the SunRay X-1 Probe and unless you modify the lower rod you have to run the coil outside the rod. Probably the downside of running that probe. I do know of some that have modified their rod to do just what you say.
That is the problem with the E-Traqs, they respond to high conductive nails and treat them as a high conductive non-ferrous target. Also, with Iron Mask engaged you can say good by to many high conductive dimes and pennies due to depth, mineralization etc which causes the phase angle to shift down to Iron and be eliminated.
Golden State Metal Detectors. Otherwise, well done video. Oh,the way the X-Terra was behaving indicated more of a ferrous/nail target
Does the etrac go deeper than any other detector? Seems like the holes you dug were very deep. Some say that the minelabs go deeper than other brands. Whats the furtherest down you have detected a coin with your etrac?
@horseman528 Depending on conditions, the E-Trac does go deep, but there are other detectors that goes just as deep...from what I've seen. 10½ inches is probably my deepest penny find so far...but even that sounded out loud and clear. Where the E-Trac shines is being able to uncover good targets in amongst the trash AT DEPTH and let you know something is worthwhile down there.
I have a new etrac and I do enjoy your videos...you might like to try one of those narrow shovels used for metal detecting , the handles can be 24 inches. 36 inches and 48 inches...they are much easier to use than the knife ...Once I got mine I rarely use the knife...I am taking my etac out for the first time today...I will get a camera soon and will start posting videos...
Excellent Metal Detecting Video!!! Now that's what I like-hardcore, no bs detecting. I like how you showed there was a nail in the hole with the wheat cent. Congrats to your wife on that nice Indian head cent. You two make a great team!
@justanotherpulltab Lose your wedding ring. Know not where you lose it. Find it along the sidelines of your local highschool football field 15 years later. Call her on the phone while it is still in the hole. You won't convince her until you show up with it later. She'll come around. Seriously...this is how it came about. Thanks. NebTrac
@huskerdigger Thanks! I'm kindof looking forward to you getting out this way someday!!! I keep finding places that haven't been detected and will be fairly old...but you have to search to find the exact spot to start and work out from there. Takes time. I'm averaging about 1 to 1 1/2 hours per coin. NebTrac
