@jung567 Unless you want to try other Koryu styles(which aren't that bad by the way)you might have to move to Japan or elsewhere to study a specific Koryu,in this case Itto Ryu.
@twobitmage Hi, you asked if ono-ha itto ryu was the genesis for the modern form. I read an article on its Grandmaster Sasamori Takemi, and it stated that modern kendo is in fact based on this style. It did say the footwork involved is slightly different, but for the most part it is a predecessor to kendo.

The man featured at 00:35, Sasamori Takemi, is the 17th headmaster of Ono-ha Itto-ryu. It's as official as it can get :-)

I practice kendo, and I noticed that one of the forms looks a little bit like the 3rd kodachi form.
Is that the genesis for the modern form?
