• How is the view towards the front of the bike? Where I leave we have lots of road imperfections and potholes and would like to see those and react with enough time since you cannot (?) bunny jump on this bike.
• Why not add a ventilated seat option? Again, I live in the tropics and we sweat profusely. If the cushion starts to absorb that sweat is going to weight a couple of extra pounds after a few hours of endurance riding. Just an idea but would CruzBike consider a ventilated seat version?
***Seeing the wheels move relative to the frame will take some tricky camera work - a good idea.***
Make a solid attachement of camera to a main frame with a clouse view of front and real suspention. Even U may do it separatly, one for front and one for back
I got a pleasant feeling from the guy doing the presentation, but the camera guy should turn on the wind filter so we can hear better.
I'd be willing to try this bike to see how it goes, and whether my feet hit the wheel during turns, although I would imagine the designers have made sure that wouldn't happen.
Yes, we did make sure it turns nicely. BTW, this bike just took a triple world record for distance covered on a recumbent by any woman. Its fast and its efficient and comfortable because its egonomically correct and aerodynamically optimised - cycle on guys!.
Very intriguing design. Since your feet are at the front, it makes sense to have a front wheel drive. A lot of weight is saved as well. The front triangle looks very solid and well thought out. The higher riding position and larger wheel is a plus. However I do have a question on the handling. Your feet are connected with the steering wheel. Would that not restrict your turning angle? When pedaling through corners aren't your hands fighting your legs?
You have a back rest to work against and solid bars to pull against. Getting power down is the least of your worries when overtaking other road bikes, or setting world records.
The only problem that springs to mind when I see it is this: You dont seem to be able to use your weight to push down on the pedal? I suppose theoretically you use teh energy you use, but the way that you use it is different?
Ventasit has special high ventilation cushions made for cruzbike.

The view forward is very good, yes you will see coming potholes etc. True, you can't bunny hop - part of the reason for providing suspension.

tell ur camera man to use a windscreen the next time...the audio gets washed out every time you get a breeze, but I'm liking that bike.

@bestamerica has two problems
1 - does not appreciate that all recumbents have a leading chainring
2 - has not consulted any Silvio rider to confirm supposed turning issues

John,
How much in milimiters U'r suspentions works/bumps? Front and back
p.s. I did not realise it has front suspention. Maybe you can make a video of driving on a bumpy road to show suspention works

Front suspension is 28mm travel, rear is about 22mm. Hard to measure the rear elastomer travel.

It turns out that when rolling, bicycles steer with just a few degrees of front wheel turning.

Will a 40 inch x-seam work?
Triple crank with a 24t inner?
chas5131 3 years ago
Yes, it will fit the very tall, what's your x-seam?
johntolhurst 3 years ago
I am drooling over the silvio right now. Only problem is that I am very tall (6'7" or 201cm) If only they made a taller size.....

Nice video John.
You could've pretended there was a media outlet about to land & do a story on the bike. :)
That Silvio is really a fantastic bike with nice refinements.

Sorry about the wind in the audio, and the helicopter in the background. Other segments to come: riding technique, handling characteristics.
