I heard that Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisely and Carnival of Madness (Shinedown, Chevelle, Sevendust, Puddle of Mudd and 10 Years) Were all supposed to perform that summer. Now that the building has been restored hopefully the facility can convince those acts to come back. That'd be cool!
Sweet jesus...It's contagious....A chance to video something you will see once in a lifetime and they fuck it up!!!!!! There is a cure for everything except stupid.....
All you haters, chill man. Have you not noticed that this is the ONLY public video of this incident? And I highly doubt this girl is an expert, she probably just grabbed her little point and shoot or her phone. She obviously turned it sideways so the camera could get a shot of the cone. Everybody just chill out. If you have a better video, share it. Otherwise, screw off. And for those of you saying "sad," don't. Nobody got so much as a bruise from this and it was freaking awesome to watch.
seriously... why did they turn it sideways???? And why did she feel the need to tell us there was lightning right after we just saw it!!!!! Its like jeez, thanks Captain Obvious!!
I live in Billings and was on the west end playing monopoly when it happened, but when i was four there was a tornado on the way up behind the rims. but the funny thing is when it was all over and me and my sister went down there just like everyone else to see the damage but there was this woman who had her kids pose in front of the Metra and said "come on kid lets get a picture with your FIRST, tornado. People are so Stupid.
All tornadoes are dangerous... they were way to close, a giant chunk of the roof from the metra could've crushed the whole car.... when was the last time you were that close to a tornado??? great footage by the way
@JMRBooSt Yes and no. It's typical of tornadoes to move with their parent storm, but they have been known to sit in one place chewing up the local vegetation/construction. The F5 in Elie, Manitoba stayed in generally the same spot for the half hour or so that it was on the ground.
@AtomicAbility It was rated as an EF2, with winds between 110 and 135 mph. And it actually tore the roof off of the building, which, by the way, was supposed to be the designated tornado shelter. Here the tornado appears to only be doing EF1 damage, but once the storm passed, they discovered that the roof on the Metra was gone.
@mikemol6453 EF2, which is classified as a strong tornado. EF0s are weak, EF1s are moderate, EF2s are strong, EF3s are severe, EF4s are extreme, and EF5s are complete devastation.
We were chased by one of these tornados' that day-we were in Fort Smith area, not too far from Billings...lol-I just hope next year's summer is not as bad :z
Well maybe her reaction to the tornado was a little extreme, but us people from montana aren't really use to shit like that. We hardly ever have tornado's, and when we do they're usually out of town near the farms and ranches, we don't really get to see them up close like many other states do
I don't mean to be harsh, but that is a naive thing to say, at best. An F2 is not that powerful COMPARED TO AN F5. But make no mistake, people have died in F1 tornadoes, let alone F2s. It's not even particularly rare, as tornado deaths go. An F2 is dangerous, especially that close to one that is tearing apart a structure. That debris could take your head off. If it was an F4 or F5, this video wouldn't exist.
Those people weren't in the tornado were they? They were in their car... If they felt the tornado was getting closer to them, they could simply drive away. And my point is that that girl was overreacting way to much over an F-2. -_- "OH MY WORD, OH MY GOSH!' -_-
@Avlex78 The reason she was "overreacting" is because there's never been a tornado in Billings, let alone one that managed to destroy such a big, iconic building as the Metra. Besides, when shit like that goes down, who wouldn't freak out?
@Avlex78 well actually, considering that the majority of montanans havent seen a tornado in montana, this is a HUGE dealio. plus, the Metra is a big deal to montanans.
@MidnightFlower13 You've heard too many stories about the Rodney St. ghetto. Helena's a great place to live. There are hiking and biking trails all around. And I know of some pretty sweet views of the valley you can get from the surrounding mountains. In the winter, when it's overcast and snow covers the Elkhorn Mountains, it's so peaceful and serene, it makes you want to never leave. When thunderstorms blow in, you can breathe the scent of rain fresh pine. I love it!
@MidnightFlower13 The part of Helena that best qualifies as a ghost town. The rest of downtown Helena is fully operational, including the historical buildings. In the original governor's mansion, there's a statue of Spokane, the only Montana horse to win the Kentucky Derby--which he did in 1889, the year Montana became a state. :)
We also have the Base Camp, which is an outdoor sports store similar the Ski Haus (sp?)
@masterjmich Lol settle down you spazz. I was joking. And thanks for the lovely comments on my profile. Faggot or not, I'm not the only one who copied those two videos.
@Zincon48 thats because your from Butt Montana!!!!!The only thing good in Butte is st pattys day!!!! you know its true!!!! and your four hours away from Billings!!!! So yor comment get a big thumbs down!!!!!
Wow...to think this was only a little over a month ago. Seems likes it's been longer than that.
Any other Montanans notice that we've been getting some really fucked up weather this summer? I mean geez yesterday it was hotter in Montana than it was in Arizona. And not to mention all the other tornadoes we've gotten...
@KirasPaine I read one report that stated that Montana averages about seven tornadoes a year, with only one being EF2 or stronger. But this year there have been 24 reported tornadoes, and several of them have been EF2s. Not to mention that EF3 that killed two people in Reserve.
Scientists predicted that tornado alley would shift southeast this year. It shifted the opposite direction.
It's tragic that they're both dead now. I heard that the one guy's head was torn from his body and it actually hit the woman next to him, which killed her too. So sad. R.I.P.
ok so i live in bozeman and of course the day we go there ...there is a tornado :-| and the worst part is i was at my aunts house but they were gone so it was just my lil sis and me .. i seriously almost pissed my pants i was like freakin out!!!!
@plankton736 Lol. No matter how often tornadoes hit your area, you'll NEVER be like "Oh a tornado... oh well." Even people that live in tornado alley take things like this very seriously and are never like "oh well."

@EMarkosek So you base your opinion on my intelligence on one comment? Not very intelligent if you ask me. Good Sir/Ma'am, you have only scraped the surface of what is Grant - a specimen quite unknown to the common man. Although Grant, as times, can come off as being rather... how should we say... vulgar due to his excessive use of profanity - he is actually rather intelligent and can form extremely well-rounded opinions on certain issues. Still, the woman holding the camera is a dumb bitch
I got a call last night from Professor Rapson at the Hedland Center. He thinks the current has changed because of melting polar ice. I think we've hit a critical
desalinization point. It would explain what's driving this extreme weather. :(
Montana actually has more tornadoes than people think. Because Montana is such a large state (145,552.43 square miles) and the vast majority of the state is rural, many storms produce tornadoes that go unnoticed.
they say that because its a mountanous stated tornadoes r always weak. to rip a roof off it needs 2 b an f3 at least. this was classified as f0. i liv in montana and no its perfectly capable of a strong tornado. so if u dont like the weather just wait a minute.
Uhm, you're an idiot, an EF-3 tornados are very powerful, 150+ wind speeds which is enough to completely destroy strong buildings, this was an EF-2. Just a tip, before you type make sure it doesn't look like you are an 8 yr. old child, okay?
@darkocchi I heard they were trying to get the city to fund a renovation, and the city didn't want to invest the time or money into a project like that. So maybe this was God's way of saying, "Renovate the Metra!"
God be with you I wish everyone safe.

I got a call last night from Professor Rapson at the Hedland Center. He thinks the current has changed because of melting polar ice. I think we've hit a critical
desalinization point. It would explain what's driving this extreme weather. :(

I use to live in Billings and i find it stunning that an EF2 tornado hit there. granted I only lived there a year.

Montana actually has more tornadoes than people think. Because Montana is such a large state (145,552.43 square miles) and the vast majority of the state is rural, many storms produce tornadoes that go unnoticed.

I can't believe that almost happened in chicago!
scubasteve0201 1 year ago
they say that because its a mountanous stated tornadoes r always weak. to rip a roof off it needs 2 b an f3 at least. this was classified as f0. i liv in montana and no its perfectly capable of a strong tornado. so if u dont like the weather just wait a minute.

@geckoboy222
Uhm, you're an idiot, an EF-3 tornados are very powerful, 150+ wind speeds which is enough to completely destroy strong buildings, this was an EF-2. Just a tip, before you type make sure it doesn't look like you are an 8 yr. old child, okay?

Guess mother nature hated the Metra too...
darkocchi 1 year ago
@darkocchi I heard they were trying to get the city to fund a renovation, and the city didn't want to invest the time or money into a project like that. So maybe this was God's way of saying, "Renovate the Metra!"
