The theme works wonderfully well with the ski chase, gradually gaining momentum as the pace of the action quickens. Is a clip of said ski chase on this site now tho? It was a while ago but unable to find now.
@DBZ5371 I believe that there wa a reason that George Lazenby made only one James Bond movie. He simply sucked as James Bond. I believe Sean Connery was by far the best James Bond.
One of the Best Bond Movies to follow the book....George was great and would have gone on to be the best.....he was the youngest to play Bond at 29.........And this was John Barrys best score........
I loved the movie and music scores. my john barry music in a bond movie, #1 Goldfinger. #2 you only live twice. #3 on her majesty's secret service. #4 thunderball. #5 from russia with love. each movie had new john barry music in them. And all had the same james bond theme music in them.
If this movie had starred Connery, everyone would go on about it being the best Bond ever, but because it had Lazenby, so many purists turn up their noses at what is such a solid and exciting movie. The ski and car chases are great, the Aston Martin DBS is sweet. And Dianna Rigg is by far the hottest Bond woman. And yes, it is the closest to the novel.
Saw this movie when I was a kid and it was one of the best times i had at the movies. The ski chases was as if i was there...Avatar now has replacedt that moment! Did not think that was possible!
Despite featuring the lone one-time Bond actor (George Lazenby), this is easily one of the Top 5 best of the franchise, with John Barry's best score, and some truly top-notch action scenes. And plus, Lazenby is a much better Bond than people give him credit for. He could have easily made the role his own had he stuck around for more than just one.
This is arguably the very best Bond film ever made! The cast was perfect. Lazenby did a splendid job, especially for his first full-fledged acting job! And Diana Rigg was, of course, stunningly perfect as Tracy! And Telly Savalas made a very good Blofeld (better than Don Pleasance's milqtoast version--no slight to Pleasance as an actor intended, mind you!). And John Barry's score--one of his best--is also, of course, superb! Bravo!
One of the best times I ever had at the movies. Saw it when it first came out . The ski chase...I felt as if i was there in the movie....Never forgot that moment. The whole movie was awesome. I wish I could go back in time and enjoy that again. No new HD or 3D will never repeat the moment Love the book and the music!
i loved hearing this theme when in the movie, blofeld and his men were chasing bond and tracy down the ski slopes. that was one of the best scenes in the movie.
I liked the ski chase with just Bond escaping from Piz Gloria about 2/3 through the movie. The ski chases in this movie the Bond films were never able to top again.
right! i read the novel and the movie is exactly the same. i just wish they had the same blofeld. don't get me wrong, telly savalas did a good job but donald pleasance will always be blofeld to me.
you noticed this bond didn't have any gadgets like the new "casino royale" bond.
all theme is exellent

R.I.P. composer John Barry. This theme (and score) may be the best Bond score he ever did.

Diana Rigg deserved to be opposite Roger Moore or Sean Connery. Personally I think she & Roger look great together than George whatshisname.

Lazenby has always been my favorite Bond, and I think this movie is highly underrated.
