If you mean explode, no it doesn't.

It has a primer that needs a full rotation of the round to arm, the round spins slowly because of the (lack of) rifling in the barrel. Because of this it takes the round a couple of meters to travel before it has made a comlete spin, so it takes a couple of meters before it is armed.

If you mean it sucks at close range, I dunno, I'm no militairy :p
