  • @MyVeryOwnTestAccount thanks! you saved me for loosing 3 seconds for my life XD

  • Where are Beavis and Butthead when you really need them?

  • same on you sia

  • i love this song, but this is the worst video clip I've ever seen, that lady can't rollerskate for shit

  • Great stuff!!.. Sounds a bit like danish band INOUWEE

  • I can just feel the THC coming out of my computer speakers.

  • I Love this song SO Much!!

Thank you!! & Lots and lots of Love!

    Hugs and Diamonds too!

    With Great Love & Joy!

    Gil from Israel :-)

  • I think she was quite stoned when she was making this song and videoclip

  • very gay (gay=happy)

    I must be very black,

because I think this song is just a bit dumb

    (my opinion)

  • <3

  • oh oh oh oh ok.. love this song but rainbows and happiness must mean every1 in this vid is on weed or they're gay. lol

  • Que bosta, essa gereção Feist-Cat Power-Mimimi é degradante.

  • Comment removed

  • lol is this a song about being gay

  • Oh I didn't know Sia directed! She's one of my favourites ^_^ And now so it Lavender Diamond :D

  • I did not think this was a serious music video for the first thirty seconds.... Shame on you Devon Williams. and to everyone one else who likes this, well ... yea.

  • I feel like this song is a few good backup singers from being an absolutely perfect piece of a (American-style) pop music. Lovely.

  • i'm sure I saw Sia dance by at one point! Such a cute Summer song

  • haha sia, love this

  • God I love this!!!!!

  • This is cutesier than kittens prancing about on a rainbow. And I wouldn't listen to it any other way!

  • The egg. That's what won me over.

  • just bought them on record :)

  • reminds me of heart of chambers by beach house what with the tiny piano....

  • :) This makes me smile.

  • @carolinapdx makes me smile too!

  • this is a stupid video

  • when is this from?<3

  • Cute song. Cute girl. Tons of them walking around Echo Park and Silverlake. I saw a girl playing tennis in a wedding dress once. Hipsters. I tell ya...

  • @ChaunceyDos LOL.

  • I can't believe the guitarist in this band used to be the drummer in Pink & Brown, they are completely different bands! Pink & Brown are an insane loud as fuck Noise Rock band and Lavender Diamond are sugary sweet. Both good bands, but completely different.

  • directed by the woman who butchered The Church's Under The Milky Way.

  • The egg had a sad face on it because it wants to be sat on, not in a music video or part of a huge pointless argument on youtube and then for the big finale it ends up a cheep cheep....

  • while all you people argue

    im gonna say

    Marvelous Song!! =]

  • Thanks for that, glad we got to this point! I don't judge your Navajo family for raising animals, it's the individual choices of urban types that bother me, such as choosing animal products (e.g. eggs) without realizing the implications such choices have. It's easy to have a healthy vegan diet, and the more of us do the easier it will get. I personally know a guy who's been vegan 30 years (without even taking vitamins) and is a picture of health. Also check out Carl Lewis, he's vegan. Cheers

  • Well, you are wrong. I am in fact resolutely pro-choice. I'm a peace activist too, I even went to Palestine last May, so yeah tell me about war. It's not the eggs themselves I care about as you claim, it's the chickens who we force to live in slavery so that we can eat eggs. You seem not to care about the chickens -- well I do, and I try my best to encourage people (in non-confrontational ways, like I did) to do so.

PS -- It's not one egg used here. Presumably dozens, for the animations.

  • i didn't presume to know your stance on abortion, it's just that your previous comment re: eggs reads a lot differently than this one and reminded me of some anti-choice folks' arguments involving fetuses. anyway, my original comment was way too harsh and i apologize for that. instead of being asinine (which was my original intent), i sounded like i was lashing out. also, while vegans care about animals, i both respect them and acknowledge them as helping me to survive...

  • (cont.) ...as i'm hopi and navajo, and the navajo side of my family raises chickens and sheep. we care/know more about animals than activist outsiders do, so don't make assumptions about what i care about. also, you should be careful when you say "we" because there is no 'we' in this equation: factory farming is systemic. those with no access to livestock are only trying to maintain a healthy diet when they purchase animal products from stores.

  • (cont., 2) oh, and good on you going to palestine. that's the longest comment i've left on youtube, so i'm going to stfu.

  • @clafou1 Possibly not even a real egg. You seriously need to chill, man. If it is it's probably free range.

  • mondotrasho, dunno why you feel the urge to attack me. Especially on this Lavender Diamond clip page. You eat what you want, just raising awareness about eggs. Call me an animal rights extremist if you think being vegan makes me one. You don't know anything about me so really your suppositions are idiotic (and totally off the mark -- I'm white, well spotted, that's all you got right)

  • because complaining about the use of an egg in a music video is a lot like people who call balls of cells 'babies' and label women who have abortions 'murderers' - it's not an independent entity, it isn't being "enslaved" or "murdered". there are several wars being waged and millions of people who don't know when their next meal is going to be; it's gross when vegans make EGGS or demonizing natural diets their priority.

  • good for you, clafou1. now, run along to share your trite, self-righteous statements with a fellow privileged, white (i guessed it, clicking on yr. shit only proved it) animal rights extremist over a vegan dish prepared with ingredients transported via greenhouse gas-emitting machines. :D (hint: nobody cares, and your choice to be vegan isn't as RadiCool Progressive as you'd like to think.)

maybe you can "open your heart" to the fact that not everyone will opt to eat or live exactly like you.

  • As an Osker fan I am sad now. Why Devon?

  • @PTown599 You would watch this video you fucking pussy.

  • what a great video and a great song too. how did i miss this?

  • (L)

  • Poetic? Uh....

  • mmmm good idea

    MR COCONUT

  • i like her hair longer

  • their singer, Becky Stark, sang Margaret on the Decemberists album The Hazards of Love, and she's touring with them atm.

  • dumbass comment

  • this video is so cute.

  • That's so cute! I love the egg. =]

  • Nice goin' Becky - Cool song. Thanks for uploading, matadorrecs.

  • handclaps and eggs make me happy... that's not entirely true... eggs scare me.

  • A sweetly inspiring performance from this inspiring sweetheart of a woman.

  • i love lavender diamond and becky stark

    but live....

    this woman is a MANIAC.

an adorable, loveable maniac, but still

  • What beautiful uplifting inspiring video. Thank you! I love the way her heart is so open when she says OPEN YOUR HEART! She shows it by example, how good it feels to be OPEN, YES! Thank you. What an inspiration. Keep sharing, keep reminding us! Encore encore!!

  • this song turns me on. :D

  • i lololove it ♥

  • amazing video and song

  • Well directed, Sia!

And a very nice song! I'm amazed!

  • fuck off schmuck. seriously. I'M FUCKING SICK OF CHRISTIANS TELLING ME TO READ THE BIBLE! how about YOU read the writing on the wall, and stop telling people to do shit. you really think you're saving people? fuck off

  • Why do you attempt to corrupt this beautiful work of art with your Christian fantasy bullshit.

Here is something for you to read -

The Bible, THE WORLD'S MOST DANGEROUS BOOK

    by Alan Watts (1915-1973)

  • im sick of it, too, guys, but im also sick of people who have intense hate of all religions, namely towards the christian religions. i am an atheist and you haters are so much more annoying than religious.

    stelron5050:

alan watts is amazing. and i agree with your comment.

  • go to spankwire for Man's word.

  • I love Becky and Lavender Diamond!!! I saw them a year ago opening up for The New Pornographers and it was a great show! The album is fantastic as well. Becky's voice is wonderful and the band supports it perfectly. She is also gorgeous! I like their sound because it invokes a feeling of delicate beauty as well as happy optimistic cheeriness. The song "Oh No" on the album is so great. Check out the album if you can. Long live Becky Stark and Lavender Diamond!!!!!

  • Yes wonderful!!!

  • i think people's negative reaction to becky and her message are a product of the postmodern, cynical, ironic times we've created. it makes people uncomfortable to see such unbridled joy and hope.

i take it that you can "open your heart" in numerous ways, this is just the way that becky and her friends do it.

    much love. XO.

  • I love Lavender Diamond. Their music just makes me feel happy, and her voice is gorgeous. She's so cute, too!

  • Lady at 2:00 is my life.

  • she's fantastic - bitter much?

  • "my shadow is a monday" hahaahha. i saw these guys live. lol

  • did you hear they are using this as the new gap commercial?

  • This is a trippy video.

  • Oh, you Grouches! LOL

Just take it for what it is worth: A nonthreatening, happy and gentle song and video.

If you hate it, your heart must be quite black.

    LOL

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh . . . . LOL

  • Very nice, cool and fresh.

  • Hey! That guy stole Schroeder's piano! Go tell Charlie Brown and Linus!

  • Is that Sia who's taking Becky's roller skates?

  • Oh, oh, oh, oh, how cute!

  • Sia's mind is so magical...

  • What's so funny about peace, love, and understanding? This song brings up that question very gracefully.

  • She looks stoned :D

  • BEGIN THE AGE OF LOVE!

  • LOL. Paranoid? You may see nazi everywhere...

  • Do you look for swastikas everywhere? Rather unusual hobby. lol Have fun!

  • just goes to show if you look at something long enough you'll see what you want to see. So the dancers, of mixed ethnicity, nonetheless symbolize Himmler, Goring, Heydrich, and members of the SS...?! and the rainbow keyboard and roller skates are thinly-veiled visual metaphors for weapons of war...??!! I see it now, thanks for that keen perspective- the newly hatched baby chick- a symbol of a new age of tyrrany...

  • Yes wonderful!!!

  • Yeaah! sweet!! ready for the world love revolution?!

  • aww! this video's so cute!

  • ***ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL AND PERFECT!!!***Bravo:D

  • I agree with the folk singer Pete Singer that the best songs are the simple songs, and the simple songs are the hardest to write, but couldn't she have come up with a better rhyme for "open your heart"? I know it's metaphorical, but how is tearing it apart a good thing?

  • actually, i beleieve it's "tell apart".

  • Its a fuckin cool song leave her alone

    fuck ya

  • she's the cutest and worst skater ever. and hey, isn't that leon trotsky?

  • "too sappy for the "hip, indie" crowd"

I guess you don't know much about that.

  • i think we could do with some "sappy" music. cuz its hella genuine :)

  • I know everyone who's commented on this song loves it but does anyone else?I mean if this song was release 30 years ago it would probably be a classic. Nowadays it's too sappy for the "hip, indie" crowd, and too "fruity" for the Timbaland mainstream crowd.I'm just sayin this cos this was my fav song of 2007 and it deserves wider recognition but I (still) know of no-one else who has even heard of them

  • This song is just so lovely (:

  • I wish they'll come to Europe/Sweden soon...i'll be there! And also wan't to give people who likes this two other tips!!! first ...Bat For Lashes "Prescilla"... and also ...joanna newsom - sprout and the bean... youtube them!!! :)) and merry christmas!

  • You can see Becky's first movie-- she had just graduate from High School. Search "Willa: An American Snow White" on youtube. The film is in the From the Brothers Grimm series.

  • I love Becky Stark! she and Ron are adorable.

  • when the crowd appears behind her, it reminds me SO much of Feist's 1234 video.

  • Well done . I hope more people see this. Video crew great job.

    Bobster

  • when did it become weird to talk of peace and love?

  • In the words of Austin Powers' Dr. Evil"... When greed and corruption once again rule...". In other words-the 90s. lol

  • I have to listen to this song at work, every day for the last forever... i can't even hear it anymore. i've tuned all the music out.

  • Do you work at origins by any chance? I hear it at work about every day too.

  • i love this song and group!

  • Boy this music video SUCKS compared to seeing them live. When you see them live you can feel the rays of love that emanate out of lead singeress Becky Stark, who is the sweetest and most adorable creature in the universe (by far). Truly LUFFable that one.

When I heard her sing You Broke my Heart live I was nearly hugging myself. It was overwhelming.

  • too bad she sucks on skates..looks like a tred. great song...love this band...

  • I agree, but whoever was filming it did a good job in making it look good in that regard :)

  • becky is so cute <3

  • ..white people.

  • So what are you trying to say?

  • like maybe this is what thug ass black people think we do on the weekends or something

  • I've known Becky's family for 20 years. She is the sweetest girl ever. You really really really need to run, not walk, and buy her new album. Really. Haunting, uplifting, sad, happy, hippie, trancy, different and so beautiful.

I love you Becky, and all of you Lavender Diamonds.

  • Well as far as I know, this is the first time I've even heard of the song "Open Your Heart", so in my mind, she's the originator. I don't care who else might have sang it.

  • I Hate this version of open you your Heart I like it when Westlife sings it they sing it better

  • Umm...I just listened to "Westlife's Open Your Heart", and it's a completely different song. It's not a "different version". It's a different song with the same title. That is common in the industry. Get your facts straight.

  • Never heard of this band. Never heard of the song. But that doesn't really matter now does it, because Lavender Diamond just gained a new fan. :D

  • pomophobe. take a deep breath, go outside and try, with all of your might, to manage a smile. you may feel better.

  • Couldn't have said it better myself, RNS. :-)

  • the best video ever ever ever !!!!

  • The other guitarist in my band is a friend of Becky. I went to see LD a while back. The hippy vibe isn't normally my thing, but they're different. You come out feeling so happy. Beautiful voice, great songs and musicianship, totally worth seeing live.

  • this is so different. it's good to have something outside the norm.

  • This some is so hippie... I love it.

  • While I normally consider less cheerful music the more realistic stuff, this is good. It's like something you could listen to in line at the grocery store, with much more credibility than all the "Baby come back to me"-themed crap it would be situated alongside.

I liked the video just as much. The colors and the clothing and the dancing had a fun, indie feel to it - why should the spirit of music be rooted in a big budget?

  • I like this video, it's cute just as the song is.

Not all starting bands have the budget to make grand videos and grand doesn't suit each band so I think this fits very well with the tune.

  • cute!

  • this is the loveliest music i have ever heard. she is an angel.

  • Music = very very good.

    Video = very very bad.

    Result? So sad.

  • I saw these guys live and they were pretty cool. This video totally suits them. I like it.

  • borin

  • blotterbook.. you are a piece of shit. i hope you die. this is a good video and i just checked your "contributions." you are a fucking miserable turd. die already.

  • sharkboy76: Somehow, (a)liking this video and (b)telling someone who doesn't, "you are a piece of shit. i hope you die.... you are a fucking miserable turd. die already."...these just somehow don't GO together, now DO they?

  • This band is truly amazing, but who in god's name directed this? ! This video has to be one of the worst pieces of hipster garbage I've seen in a while. What's with the silver-lake girls dancin in the background? If you don't have a brilliant idea for a music video, don't make a music video. It's a poor excuse for a medium as it is; when the videos are bad, it makes the music sound bad.

  • you are a moron.

  • That's funny--I listen to this song when I rollerskate all the time! =]

  • gaha

  • somebody commented that i sounded like her... eeeek !! help... this is all a bit bubblegum isn't it?

  • I love this song!

  • Aw! <3 This song is too sweet! ^_^ Love it!

  • Heard this song at the end of the July 7 airing of Studio 360 (public radio), had never heard the voice or the group before. Becky sends out a very positive vibe, so needed at this dark time. Were this 1968, this would have been a smash hit. Lighten up people! Peace.

  • I nailed that black chick once. Her dad is the actor who's always playing Clarence Thomas types on tv. Still digging on the Kanye, Jon Brion baby piano that WACO dude is rocking. I'm sure you Brits know exactly what I'm talking about.

  • she sucks

  • Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh!

  • Enjoyed the song, the only problem I had with the video is that it's obvious she falls several times but they cut before it shows it.

  • Totally retarded.

  • happy song

  • its not "THE AGE OF CONSENT" its "AGE OF CONSENT"

  • Hipster douche gayness. We get it, you moved to Silverlake cause you are going to make it big...

the chicks make-up pisses me off more than the song.

    Love,

    El Septico

  • amazing!
