  • How often do people play the dobro flat style whether sitting or standing with straps without a squareneck (meaning at times they may fret notes in addition to using a slide)? Also, having a squareneck pretty much means you have to play it flat due to the large neck, right?

  • I can't see much....dimly lit. Sounded good, though.

  • Play the damn thing... Stop fingering it... Obviously can't...

  • @sirlovemehard What do you think he's doing? Eating off of it? He's playing the "damn thing" and quite frankly I think it sounds great.

  • Can u use this one as a normal acoustic too?

  • what's your recording equipment/setup here?

  • Hey, what's your recording setup here (mics, recording storage, editing programs, etc.)?

  • what song are you playing

  • Great mic.

  • What song are you starting to play in the beginning of this video? Im very new to this and I was wondering what you were playing in the beginning, it sounded very sad and full of soul i loved it. I can only imagine what it mus sound like coming from the Dobro rather than youtube haha.

  • What tuning are you using?

    thank's

  • In the description it says open d tuning:

    D A D F# A D

  • I've not heard many dobros played by themselves, but is it the tuning or the instrument that is so mournful?

  • I'm not sure myself, but it's probably a combination of both and the playing style.

  • A beautiful instrument.

  • This sounds neat. I wish the video was lighter so I could see the instrument in more detail.

  • Thats some cool shit man. Loved it!

  • nice job playing, framing the shot and setting the mics up appropriately - and sweet guitar! I'm inspired to work at this a little harder.

  • what does OMI mean?

  • The "Original Musical Instrument company" or similar - it was the 1970-80s business of the Dopyera brothers, who invented and made the first National and Dobro resonator guitars in the 1920s-30s.

  • thx dude.

  • Love it!

  • Just when I thought I knew it all! I was listening to an old Skynerd song, "Ballad of Curtis Leowe", where they mentioned a dobro. I looked it up 'cuz I never heard of a dobros...Now I know what it is; I have heard this instrument countless times! Thanks.

  • i am here for exactly the same reason.

  • Are you supposed to play it like that?

  • Yep - it's a squareneck lap steel guitar.

  • So good to hear this piece again and again amigo! This guitar soundz reaaaly good, and listening to your playing on a reso is a "très bonne chose" :-)

  • Thanks everyone for the nice feedback! :-)

    Fred

  • It sounds great Fred ! Do you prefer the playing position of a Weissenborn vs a squareneck ?

  • Great sounding machine and as always nice playing

  • Very Nice sounding guitar!!!

    congratulations!

    Chris
