jon, every time i put a mouse in my goliaths cage and she eats it, there is always like a big hairball with tiny sphericle things on the ball thing...they also move...is this bad?should i change the substrate?
Well you have to understand that mice are vertebrates and a tarantula is incapable of eating the whole thing.. Yes it's bad, and you should remove them.
Ultimately, I would highly consider changing your her diet completely and switch to B.dubia roaches. If you keep offering mice every feeding, you'll eventually kill her from a molt complication. Once or twice a year is fine..not more than that
Also I probably told you this but mice are rich in calcium, and Ts cannot intake this well and gets stored in the exoskeleton and hardens it up. If you're feeding them more than what's recommended, the exo becomes rock hard..so they won't molt right and they can die from it (see Tguy1976's P.regalis), and it's especially crucial since these goliaths are known for their molting problems
B.dubias, super or goliath worms are a lot better..more nutrious and never leftovers

hey jon listen...i got the same tank like you.... but i only get 65%-70% humidity on mine asian forest scorpion... what am i doing wrong.... the substrate is moist (but not too wet, scorpions cant swim^^) the temperature is perfect, but i dont get the right humidity..... i need need to hurry.. my scorp got babies now and i dont want to let them die cause of too low humidity....... can u help me?
Actually you're not okay. All 3 do better at 75F. 70 is too low for most.
Goliath... sadly it won't live welll in these conditions .62% humidity is WAY TOO DRY for this species, they need at least 85% humidity (their dry season), or else it will have a failed molt. One of the main reasons why they die prematurely. You need least 80F in the day and 75F at night.
You're okay on the bloodleg, the Salmon could use humidity around 75%, just keep both them warmer and you'll be ok
hey jon, i wanna buy a T.Blondi next week, can you tell me with insect you feed a blondie? i got a grammostola rosea (maybe you remember me^^) he eats 1 cricket in about 2 weeks, how much eats a teraphosa? must i buy other insect? and dos he eats 1 time in 1 week? hope for youre answere cya. ps: sry for my bad english again ^^
hey man thanks for all your videos!! their good!! you seem to know your stuff!! heres a question for ya!!
my T.blondie is about 3 inchish!! k humitity is at 85-90 temp 76 degrees im useing that brick u add water too and its turns to like a soil, he geats good but in the ass end of it it has like a little bald spot that looks maroon to like a red what would that mean?? is that normal?? hopfully u can help!!
I used to have two of them back several years ago. They died off to old age. Its really the same setups I give to my tarantulas. Ample substrate, a cave, a waterdish, and decorations

@Jon3800 Reinforcing statements don't help with phobias tough. That needs brutal behaviourist therapy.
Personally I'd have no problem because I don't mind big bulky spiders, but if it was a domestic house spider in my room I'd piss myself.

Hi...Jon
Another question...
I will go in vacation for 25 days.
The Tarantulas will be fine alone?
What can I do?
Please give me some advice!
Thank's a Lot
Regards :)
tarsitano66 1 year ago
@tarsitano66
Just feed them well. I'd be beneficial to block some of the ventilation so there's ample humidtity

I give my T.blondi crickets and super worms. As per my feeding videos, I give my adult 6 crickets. You can also give give them B.dubia roaches.
