  • All these people wanted to learn ASL because of a TV show. :I

WELL! How many of you have actually met a deaf person and had been inspired by that, instead?

BUT THANKS for posting this. I completely forgot how to say "Hello!" haha.

  • switched at birth brought me here also. There is a whole culture that I can't communicate with and I like to talk. LOL!

  • Switched at birth, love you so muc

  • NO one brought me here but my own, is it normal if i feel weird doing facial expressions?

  • @TrollLovesCoffee no, i feel weird doing them too. i was at my first asl class and i laughed when i had to do it

  • Katawa Shoujo brought me here.

  • IM ELEVEN YEARS OLD AND IM IN A CLASS AT MY SCHOOL ITS FUN AND HER NAME IS ISABELLA

  • her letters go way too fast i cant read them i need slow motion or something, just me?

  • switched at birth i have never heard of it

  • :O link in the description isn't working. then again, this is dated back to when the description bar was to the right...

  • I have a woman in my aerobics class (I'm an instructor) who is deaf, and keeps up with the music and choreography even though she is deaf! She is amazing! But I want to communicate better with her, before and after class. :)

  • does this girl give private lessons? lol

  • who is emmit?

  • @elidontlie Emmett is on the show switched at birth!

  • I want to learn sign so I can date.some one like emmit to..... Yummy him

  • Gahh, i wish i was friends with a deaf person like switched at birth

  • I want to learn signlaunguage bc my fgriend is deaf

  • I wanted to learn sign because Emmett is so cool, i was like damn, i want a deaf boyfriend.

  • what the hell is switched at birth guys?!

  • @niniizazum Its an ABC Family drama about 2 teenage girls that were literally switched at birth. One is deaf, one is hearing. Its a great show. Its shinning a wonderful light on Deaf culture. :)

  • I wanted to be Emmett, thats what brought me here :)

  • Switched at Brith made me want to learn ASL

  • the deft are not dumb you don't have to put so much effort in facial expressions!!

  • @soinlove8306 facial expressions are a part of ASL as the language, not because the Deaf are dumb..they're obviously not..but ASL is a very expressive language, facial expressions included!

  • Switched at birth inspired me to learn ASL! It's an awesome show and the language is so beautiful.

  • i think it's important to just learn the language. i'm in studying to become a nurse and would love to add more knowledge . it comes in handy if a patient needs a translator. plus SAB really inspired me to learn it. i find it to be my new passion. :)

  • I've been wanting learn how to sign since Switched at Birth came out:)

  • I always thought sign language was kool & interesting & admiring but watching switched at birth totally motivated me even more to put my interest in action(:

  • I've always wanted to learn sign language. I think it is so beautiful seeing people communicate through their facial expressions and hand motions. I have been inspired by seeing other people sign, and though I've never seen the show "Switched at Birth", I think it is great that people are inspired to learn this amazing language!

  • i hate to thumb up but i actually here because of switched at birth :)))

  • If expressions are important, how can I pay attention to both signs and expressions at the same time?

  • can you make a video on customer service? I'm a bank teller and have several deaf customers. I would like to be able to ask 'how can i help you today?' and 'deposit', 'withdrawal' , 'do you need your balance?', 'savings account', 'checking account', etc.... I would really appreciate it. Thanks. P.S. love your videos!

  • Everyone is here because of some TV show or movie i don't know, but I'm here because I want to learn sign language... just because i do.

  • 2:25 "wat's up, fool" XD

  • holy shit, did anyone else get scared when she spoke! O.o

  • you might want to change the description. it says talkwithyourhands. com, but i think it's supposed to be ".net" i couldnt find a website with ".com"

  • Lol I love all the switched at birth comments. Well, atleast some tv show has motivated so many to want to learn one of the most beautiful languages I've witnessed. I'm a Nursing Student and they've encouraged us to find a language and learn it. I picked ASL because my mom knows it and my baby neice is deaf. Her mom took ASL in college. Anyway, I love your videos and they are helping me out Alot! I'm really enjoying this!

  • ME TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • these videos really helped. a girl at a pool i go to signs and i want to become friends with her.

  • Oh my gosh, she started signing at the beginning of the video and I was so scared she wasnt going to talk!

  • @ThePruductions haha, me too!!!

  • sign language is perfect for Italians, we speak with our hands anyways!!

  • like if switched at birth is the reason your learning ASL !(: <3

  • Im learning ASL so I can ask a girl out on a date!

  • thanks to switched at birth i have been influenced to learn sign language and i have learned sooo much!!

  • sometimes I search for a word and I find out there are several ways to sign one word. How do I know which one to use? It is frustrating as I try to learn ASL. Thank you

  • @caribeangurl American Sign Language is like any language. Sometimes you have many words for one word and sometimes there is no American sign for an English word you want to express and that instance you have to find a Sign for an English word with an equivalent meaning. As a beginner, I suggest learning to recognize all the variations and use the one you like. Sometimes they be interchangeable and if they are not a native speaker will correct you and explain the difference.

  • LOL switched at birth wz my inspiration LOL haha

  • How many videos do u have about ASL lessons?..that way I can watch them all

  • once I learn more Im going try to talk to deaf 6th grader that goes to my school Im a seventh grader ever though he has a translator walking with him Im going to try to talk to him with ASL without his translators help :) 9000/5

  • like this if switched at birth brought u here

  • @LikeitsDino2010 not because I have an exact interest or anything, but because i want to make sure that what the subtitles says is really what they're signing...

  • @LikeitsDino2010 Switched at birth inspired me :X

  • After being fascinated with the Sign Lanuage on Switchhed At Birth. I decided to learn ASL.

  • @Mwyattbball44 whats switched at birth??

  • @mizapostolic98 Switched at Brith is a new show that premiered on ABC Family this past summer. Season One has already aired and maybe you can find it on youtube now.

  • i love swiched at birth it made me do it

  • thumbs up if you wanted to learn to sign before the show Switched at Birth came out :)

  • does it matter if you use your left hand or right hand.. does the sign change its meaning depending on which hand you use?

  • Thank you :) How do you say "you're beautiful" in sign language by the way? I can't find how to anywhere. Thanks.

  • @DRYKJ17 I think you point at the person you're talking to, and then you move your open hand (palm facing you) slowly across your face, as if expressing your facial features.

It's much easier to show it though. haha

  • @xxxkeviknaxxx Thank you :)

  • @hehehe341 OMG so did I !!! great show isn't it?!!

  • @hehehe341 me too

  • me too

  • @hehehe341 I would advise u to look for other resources other than this one. Lifeprint . com is good umm, startasl as well. Here on youtube i like masterasl1234 but you may not undertstand that channel since a lot of it is topic specific and more advanced. underkd is another channel but it is only vocab and i uses it because it was the vocab for my old textbook series. This was a good & well intentioned effort by the video poster but is lacking.

voicing while signing is distracting & no bueno

  • @hehehe341 same i l;ove sign language now and i want to learn i have learned some from watching the show

  • @hehehe341

Hah.. looks like I'm not the only one who did that ^^

  • @hehehe341 Me too!! Switched at Birth really made me want to learn how to do sign language!

  • @15jallred I'm out of the loop; what does Switched at Birth have to do with this video?

  • @zachchristiansen switched at birth has actual, real life deaf & hard of hearing actors on the show (instead of using "hearies" to act them out). On the show they sign a lot.

  • @zachchristiansen Well, in switched at birth they do sign language. The main girl is deaf.

  • @hehehe341 Me too!

  • @hehehe341 lol me to

  • @hehehe341 Me too :)

  • I am learning and this will help me out a lot. thank you for making this.

  • After reading these comments, I went and looked up the sign for "troll".

    Seemed appropriate.

  • i am learning it in school

  • I love that you made these videos, thanks so much.

It would be helpful if you didn't "talk with your hands" so much unless you are using ASL because it's a bit distracting. Thanks again!

  • hello :D I love your video :D could you up a video teaching this sentence: how can a sign that? (i mean how can I say that?). =) thanks :D

  • @amandalr89 Trust me. They are not "nearly identical." Since you are a student yourself, you don't even see the errors she's making. However, as a qualified and certified ASL teacher, I see the errors that she is doing (and passing on to others). She is not a "little league coach." (To use your analogy.) She has NO credentials at all to be teaching. She is nothing more than a student ("little league player") herself.

  • i live in fort mill sc and i would like to see about meeting deaf persons in charlotte or fort mill im hearing but really would like to learn sign language if you are deaf and are willing to help please respond

  • not to sound like a jerk or something but your really beautiful

  • IS THERE A DIFERENCE BETWEEN ENGLISH SIGN AND SPANISH SIGN LANGUAGES¡????

  • She is pretty.

  • i love sign languge

  • When looking for an online American Sign Language learning program, you need one that will suit your needs. You need an online American Sign Language program that will be conducive to your learning style. Some of the main features to look for in an American Sign Language Program online include, grammar presented in a video format for ease of understanding, themed lessons with limited vocabulary learned in lesson.

  • GREAT VID :) Im starting some asl lessons if anyone wants to check out some of my vids also. GOOD LUCK GUYS!
