  • or instead of going through all this bullshit you can just use windows, which is a perfectly fine operating system. Fuck linux users. For all the shit they talk about windows and the software for it, they don't deserve to use any Windows-based software and games. You wanna be a linux shit talker? then play your tiny handful of shitty linux games.

  • yes... wine runs cs, but i have mafia2, battlefield, etc, but only counter strike works with wine ;)

  • @catalynoo watch?v=39iEFm9lkfI runs good on a notebook :| a litle laggy but in a better pc it should be fine ;)

  • lol

  • OK, LINUX IS THE BEST BUT ITS DOWNFALL IS NOT RUNNING WINDOWS GAMES FROM STEAM. IF THIS COST 15 LOUSY DOLLARS FOR THREE MONTHS....I WILL BUY IT AND ENJOY MY SUPER FAST LINUX. STEAM+LINUX=HEEELLL YEA

  • Will this work with roblox?

  • @jessecshort yeperooni man and thats the exacty reason why i got this, to play roblox

  • know of any programs that allow You to install & run programs like camtasia & photosuite 7 for instance ??

  • NO STEAM!?

  • @mrteemumilto no xd,steam on bar on the head.

  • @mrteemumilto yes it supports steam

  • @Benzedirk2012 No it doesn't. Not in an substantial and extensive way. I already bought Win7.

  • @True2, ...Hell no M$ couldn't. Moreover, do you see M$ making radical leaps forward in OS structure? No, it's Linux. Linux has done everything from running on supercomputers such as IBM's Watson (the one that won Jeopardy), to running a full system with less than 100MB of RAM. Not to mention you have tons of options to choose from when setting up your system. Like Windows' interface? Use KDE (Which, by the way: M$ stole Aero, Aero-snap, and widgets from). Like Mac? Use Unity or GNOME 2.x.

  • @True2, so what you're saying is that any alternative is piracy? Well in that case, Windows Movie Maker is a pirated copy of iMovie, Windows Media Player is a pirated version of Quicktime (which did come years before WMP), etc. Your argument is invalid. Ubuntu, and Linux in general is far more secure and customizable than Windows, and just because you can't figure out how to make something work doesn't mean it is inferior. You think M$ could have come up with a way to emulate another OS?

  • So not only you have to pay for the games themselves, but also you need to pay monthly fees just to play them ? Even solo games (no WoW-like servers needing maintenance and being the main vector for their game engine and legitimate profitability) ?... leeches...

  • fuck u that shit doesnt work for everygame... bullshit bull fucking specific shit... i wasted my time with that shit half assed always broken down os...

    heres the breakdown...

Ubuntu(or any LIEnix os)= a broken down ass car that you recived free with an "AS-IS" warranty... so if it breaks YOUR FUCKED

Windows= A brand new finely polished vehicle... if it fucks up... its under warranty and will get fixed soon... if softwares fucking up a new driver may be out download instal click next done!

  • @True2TheBlueYoViGang you don't know what you're talking about and you are vulgar (and lousy at that too btw). Instead of bullying your prejudiced opinions that aren't based over tangible and real-world facts, you should get informed and shut-up in the mean time ('cause you don't have anything to say apart from your vulgar emotional exhibitionism).

  • @HawkFest UBUNTU IS A VULGAR PIECE OF ASSFUCKING SHIT! PERIOD! you don't get no more bolder and vulgar than downloading some ass backwards OS that may or may not work at all on your computer and if u got a good computer (wich now a days most are great pcs) most likely ur ass OS wont even detect ur video card ur wireless eatherenet or ur momma standing in the corner luaghing at ur dumb ass for torrenting this stupid OS its fucking useles the shity freeware is ALL clones of windows apps

  • @HawkFest her Mister sophisticated bullshit

look at this comparison and then kindly fuck off 'O'

FL studio cloned as LMMS (and its buggy in linux but not windows go figgure)

KDNLIVE or Cinerela(or what the fuck ever its spelled) is a half assed Sony Vegas Pro with like alot of cool shit ommited... fuck that shit

the list goes on and fucking on.. ubuntu = piracy central.. nothings original and it all has less features than its windows/mac counterparts... fuck FuckUbuntu

    WINE= failure

  • @True2TheBlueYoViGang, if Cinerela doesn't suit you and makes you feel like "fucking" as you say instead of working, all you can do is buy a well-known editor like for any other OS (e.g. Maya - Quote from Autodesk : "Maya 2012 is also capable of running on other configurations such as boutique distributions of Linux"). But if paying doesn't suit you either, well you'll just have to endure or continue to pirate software for Windows...

  • what happened to open source? $15 is bullshit

  • @shnozle Its $15 dollars for a Windows game that can be played on ubuntu using WINE. You fucking idiot!

  • @shnozle

Wine is free, the fancier GUIs are to pay for.

    But imo they are useless.

  • @shnozle The idea is software FREE like free in speech and NOT like free beer. Thats why no commercial producer cares about the Linux community because everywhere are people who don't wanna pay for others work. Taking money for software is more than legit, although it should be open source.

  • @shnozle

open source doesn't mean free the concept is "freedom as in free speech not free beer"

  • What happened to everything to do with Linux being FREE? LOL

  • linux to jest popierdolone gówno.Windows Rządzi

  • did you shaped your eyebrows ??? until 4:38 seamed you had some problems, need to poo? :)))

  • well i just have to install one of both and thats all? i dont have to install any driver?

im just new in ubuntu 11.10 that for the help

  • Wine is not as good as the said. I only could get to work older games. I tried dead space and it says I have´t got a pc powerfull enought and resident evil 5 works fine in my pc

  • OHHH THATS WHAT WINE WAS...It is in my applications

  • all it can run is cs 1.6 even css doesn't work on wine

  • Both

  • i hope they work on oblivion wine is shitty

  • I installed F.E.A.R. on Linux ubuntu 10.04 by using wine, but I can't run game because I must crack it. Can someone help me how to play games without of using original CD?

  • @OverG88 download a crack and replace the original exe. Its done the exactly the same way as it is done in windows.

  • @Crashandburn999 Imposible! I can't replace it!

  • @OverG88 fail.. sure u can replace it. if not. then delete the original exe and put in after the no cd crack.

  • W.I.N.E. is so awesome thing. I made some great gaming videos on my channel. I can run CRYSIS, CRYSIS WARHEAD, CRYSIS WARS, FLATOUT2, COUNTER STRIKE and more. Linux FTW !!

  • Windows - games

    Linux - everything else

It's quite a bit easier and much more support. It's not too hard to have linux as the primary OS dual booted with windows just to run games.

  • usually have issues with punkbuster games or games with unique hackshields...

  • Can you get Steam? I've spent most of my cash on gaming hardware, but I want linux.

  • @1966pikupstix

I've tried Wine on steam and it works.

  • @mappygrey1 Thanks, I'm switching to linux soon. Does it affect performance, graphics, or ability to go in full screen?

  • @1966pikupstix

i haven't noticed anything affected. You can get drivers via Wine for your hardware. I haven't tested any of latest games unfortunately so I'm not entirely sure. I'll get back to you when I test Metro 2033 and Napoleon: Total War. I should be doing this later today. That way I can be sure it works fully.

  • @1966pikupstix

Steam isn't officially supported in Linux

  • I prefer beer.

  • how to heck the game behind that guy move by itself without he playing it?????

  • @aap1295 linux plays the games for you!

  • love that video back then and still do to day.

now i use Crossover and work great

  • love that video back then and still do to day

    now i use Crossover

  • what is the map? 0:45

  • how do u download Wine?

  • @AmyLeeRocks111

If you learn how to search for info online, you'll find answers to any question you could ever have. Should be the first thing to learn for ppl: learn how to use a search engine.

  • @AmyLeeRocks111 On your linux (ubuntu) box, open up software center (under the applications menu) and search with the word "wine" and install the (I think) top result.

  • @AmyLeeRocks111 Better go with the latest version of PlayOnLinux. It is a wine manager, that makes things work that simply won't with vanilla wine. If you're on Ubuntu, add the PlayOnLinux PPA and install from there. Read about it on the net, it's really worth.

  • @SeltsamerAttraktor I'M ONLY 8 STINKIN' YEARS OLD! wow... didn't u ever see my channel? CHECK YOUR CHANNEL WHEN U DON'T KNOW HOW OLD SOMEONE IS! stupid...

  • WINE will never be the same as running real Windows software. WINE is buggy and really slow, and doesn't work with all software/games. My main is Windows but if Ubuntu supported the Steam-client with all games and Adobe Photoshop CS5 then i would use Ubuntu instead.

  • people shouldn't sell WINE as a way to run Windows games, it rarely works well and to tell people they'll be able to play Windows games like normal is a lie.

It's touch-and-go at best, and doesn't work at all at worst.

  • @robster4ever NO , FUCK YOU ! Linux rules ::)

  • @robster4ever agreed

  • @robster4ever So mucking around in linux every once in a while is more of a hassle than dealing with constant anti-virus scams (who do you think makes all of those viruses) and surrendering your hardware to the av software so you can get a little bit of rest in dealing with the massive amount of viruses that plague you the second you connect to the internet and making sure that even if you aren't infected you sure will feel like it and the second you slow down your computer is too.

  • Duel boot linux and windows and use windows only for Games

  • Linux playing not so good. You got shittier graphics and much lower FPS on many games. You see the guy is only playing with cs 1.6 thats why he doesnt have fps lagg..

  • Pay monthly to play Windows games that I already own on Linux that I could play for free anytime on Windows? I think I'll stick to Windows for my gaming.

  • @CoolDudeClem Ever hear of wine? Wine is the free alternative to crossover, and it works almost as well. In fact, wine gives them there source code, which Codeweavers polish off and make more stable through rigorous testing, and release it. So, if you want a more reliable program that will run your windows games... then choose crossover. If you want a program that is almost as good as it but a little bit unstable, then use wine.

  • im trying to run battlefield 2 on linux but when i join a game the creen turns black and then after a while punkbuster boots me how can i download punkbuster and how can i stop the screen from messing up? please respond

  • i recently got ubuntu and im still getting used to it i downloaded WINE and play on linux will this allow me to play battlefield 2 or do i need to add more stuff?

  • Been experimenting with Linux for about a year tried Ubuntu, peppermint, PC Linux, Linux Mint, settled on Zorin os 5. But cant get games to work so much as I hate windows still have to use it to play my favorite games, sad face.

  • lol hes aimboting in the backround XD

  • I just use dual boot, it allows me to use Windows and Linux... problem solved, i don't

even pay for windows, so its all free.

  • Wine i kinda like Virtual machine only for windows applications to run it on ubuntu but it cant run OS?

  • @nikkolei -use virtualbox to run a os

  • Check out Game Drift Linux - it comes pre-configured with CXGames (adds support for more than 1.200 games) and features its own Game Store - available at: gamedrift. org

  • wine is shiiiiiiiiiit

  • When wine was created that day is worst in microsoft history

    1. Linux / Ubantu

    2. Windows

  • @thesancezzz nope windows is still number one seller most laptop and pcs have it linux is for nerds also wine lags almost on any game linux is is great as homebrew also while login into server that runs windows you get banned almost on any game so yeah.

  • @Blu0tuth0ninja

now i have the problem that a steamgame is closing after a i start it

  • @Nair0x can't help you there.

  • Your acting at the start is *VERY* bad.

  • @LiEnucksFAILS ........It's a good thing I have Linux then :D

  • @raziel20k This lienucks I have seen him on almost every Linux-video comment. Maybe he really likes Linux, but just wont admit it? Why else spent so much time on it? I like it, that is why I spent my time on it.

One would think if you like for example Windows better, you would spent your time speaking about that.

Anyways good video, and good intro.

  • @mariomj71099 Be nice to nerds. Chances are, you will be working for them.

  • HI..

    I USE WINDOWS XP...

MY DESKTOP IS QITE OLD.. AROUND 5 YRS BOUGHT MY COMP IN 2005.. SO PROCESSOR IS PNTIM 4 ND 512 RAM... AS WELL AS 40GB HDD...

CAN I RUN LINUX IN MY COMPUTER.. ??? I REALLY WANT TO USE IT...!!!

  • @9322002898 it would run as a wonder, really. no joke

  • @9322002898 linux can run pretty much on any computer. it takes less to run then windows xp so you should be fine.

  • @9322002898 Yup. Not only yeah but hell yeah. I still run a laptop I bought in 2000 for work. It can be a great way to extend the life of a computer. However it does come with it's challenges with Linux. But if your limited to word processing and web based applications. Then you could get by with Linux rather well.

  • spongeyperson1000 you're a FUCKING RETARD for writing that comment. WINE is not a emulator that's wat it stands for and it's a compatibility layer for windows Which is way different from a fucking emulator bitch!!

  • This is really help full us so that we can experience windows games in other operating system

  • Wine= Windows Eliminator or Win eluminator

Look closely at win and the e at the begining of the word eluminator.... it spells wine!

  • i use playonlinux

  • so i have to pay to play games on linux ???? at windows im playing all games free..

  • @FalleneXe No this guy is just promoting some development companies. You can do all of this on you own by just tweeking Wine.

  • @FalleneXe No my friend you can only download - playonlinux - it is a good program you can play any Game .exe on ubuntu or linux.

About crack it's easy just make like windows take it copy and overwrite in the folder of the game.

  • @abdalla5243305 so wtf u made 2 days to answer me ?? :) im going on linux !!!!!!!!!! see you there !!! :) thx a lot ! fvk windows :)

  • How is it legal to install applications from microsoft that explicitly say in the eulas that you may not use this unless you own windows , and some actually specify you cant install them on anything else than windows , and guess what .. games do not work without direct x / microsoft framework, internet explorer.

  • @Akirilus What a dipshit you are! you don't need internet explorer to play games!! LOL, it's a web browser dumbo. I have windows 7 and ubuntu 10.10 and I don't even have IE8 or 9 installed, I completely removed it as it's a useless piece of shit.

  • @fatriff :)) look guys its a retard hi retard , play league of legends or allods online without a internet explorer , go back in the hole you came from.

  • @Akirilus If you honestly play league of legends or allods online then you are the real retard here

also those are two examples of (really shitty) games that require you to use internet explorer for launching (because the creators were retarded) this is not true for >90% of games

take for example team fortress 2... no you don't need internet explorer... in fact you don't even need windows it runs fine under wine for most people

  • @Akirilus

or if you're really so retarded that you think if its not in a web browser its not a game then try one of the millions of flash games out there using FIREFOX running in ANY LINUX DISTRO

  • @Akirilus and third comment is the charm: direct x and all the other shit (and I do mean SHIT) that Microsoft forces you to install to play certain games (because the developers were lazy and Microsoft sucks at EVERYTHING) can actually be installed using wine

also it never says ANYWHERE in the eulas that you need a copy of windows or that you can't install them on anything other than windows dumbass (it's because it's implied that you're using windows and no one gives a fuck if you're not)

  • Counter Strike is enough for my life!

  • Thumbs up if your just watching Counterstrike in the background ; )

  • humanity is fucked if we dont come uo with open source artificial; intelligence

  • thumbz up for the guy playing counter strike over there ,

  • LOL AWP Noob in the back.

  • fucken sweet cs map

  • @davidjratcliffe it's called de_rats or something lol

  • I feel very much liberated learning more about GNU/LINUX. Thank you Richard Stallman and all the "Free" software promoters!

  • Use PlayOnLinux a python script that creates a own wine prefix for each install, with preset profiles ...

  • @xuedideson i installed it, but, how do i run it? or is it just a prefixthat runs automatically when wine is running? please help!

  • @Dynose sorry for trhe late response. Just start the gui and say install, there you have lots of predefined install scripts. Or you create manually a prefix and choose the binary you like to install ...

  • cross over was originally for mac.

  • yay you helped me relize WINDOWS SUCKS BALLS

  • try playonlinux

  • Hi, i want to download Ubuntu.. Is the frame rate better than wdindows? Because on Windows XP I get 240fps~ on Counter Strike Source. Thanks

  • Can you play multiplayer games If you have original games???

  • @Merc963 yes it depends on the build structure of the game! You can play counter strike, unreal tournment enc....

  • Thumbs up on if for the entire time that he was talking at the start, you were just watching the person play CS

  • im a mac user and hate pc users not linux users in fact i now have linux also :)

  • I just want a good layer that doesn't cost anything. Wine still sucks a lot, and that's why we need programs that tell me what I can and cannot run in order to use them.

  • Lol I thought it standed for WINdows Emulator xDD

  • I need help. I'm a real "newbie" on linux. I have downloaded and installed Wine, but as I try to install call of duty 4, it won't install. Could someone PLEEEASE help me??

  • @FiR3S4Rt3R You can download and run your game on PlayOnLinux (Google it). But, it may not always work. I tried installing some games with PlayOnLinux - sometimes it works flawlessly, sometimes it just fails

  • @FiR3S4Rt3R I tried it, and i've installed PlayOnLinux, but none of the games run. :'(

  • Why the hell is it that the latest Wine isn't available for the latest Debian release? It's bullshit, because now I'm stuck with PlayonLinux which fucking sucks ass, it works but I can't tell whether winetricks is working with Steam or not, which makes Steam crash every time I'm trying to play a source game. >:/

  • can I play crisis, cod 4mw, cod black ops, flight sim, battle field, fall out 3??

  • 2 years later, failed projects...

  • Try having Quake II running in WineHq without any problems. Than I'll consider switching to Linux.

  • my penguin throws your apple threw a window

  • @shapow54 love your comment man.........

  • @shapow54 hhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah your funny

  • Why do you need a subscription at all? Is this only for multi-player games? I need something good for single player games. I don't play online. You never make the distinction between single player and multi player for the games in your review.

    good point. emulators usually work...

  • @skullforfighters20 Self-Recursive Acronyms, gotta love it.

  • @skullforfighters20 Uhhh yes... it is an emulator

  • @DaedricLavaWhiskey Wine's not that kind of emulator. When users think of emulators, they think of programs like Dosbox or zsnes. These applications run as virtual machines and are slow, having to emulate each processor instruction. Wine does not do any CPU emulation

  • @DaedricLavaWhiskey Also Wine is not emulating Windows, but rather is the (or wrapper for ) win32 API for non-windows OS.

  • Could I play online games with this info? I'm planning on buying mac, and I wanna play the game I'm playing right now.

  • @halo3masterable theres plently of info out there. look at wineHQ.org to see what works under wine. i suggest go to ubuntus software manager app (i cnt remember the name of it) and install nexuiz. its awesome and free but its not for noobs

  • I use playonlinux because it is cool =)

  • my computer will go straight to the archive manager

  • my computer wont open the files i download

  • Now that OS X can run HL2 and GMod, Windows is just going downhill.

  • @sonicmonkey123

    But still Mac sucks.

  • @ThePhotory

That's true, but having the Source engine run on Macs is just the first step to bigger things. It'll be a long time before Macs can surpass Windows boxes in the field of gaming.

  • @sonicmonkey123 all mac has to do is enter the console market. give sony and microsucks some competition by having a similar lisence deal with developers that microsoft has. imagine games for opengl instead of games for winblows

  • @aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa78815 I think there have been a couple Apple consoles in the past. They sucked. If there was an Apple console nowadays to compete with the current consoles, it would be cheaper than a Mac but expensive for a console. They would have to make it cheap and it wouldn't be good that way.

  • @sonicmonkey123 yea but the infrastructure is there like the store for iphone stuff. all they have to do is release a new mac that does not come with a screen attached and call it the I-ridicouslyexpensiveconsole
