Thanks Glen. Im a massive Beatles/ Lennon fan and you are one of very few that are worthy. Much justice. All the best my dear mate, you have made me shed many a tear.
ManUtdMrs I agree. One of the best songs ever made. And this is the best cover. It´s very beautiful when Campell high the last tone in the middle part.
John & Yoko believed they were the re-incarnations of Victorian poets Robert Browning and Elizabeth Barret Browning. On the very last page of his diary for 1980 he copied the verse 'Grow old with me, the best is yet to be' from Browning's Rabbi Ben Ezra. Interesting.
John Lennon made his existing recording of Grow Old with Me as a rough demo on a piano in his Dakota flat just before he was murdered, so it is hardly surprising that it is not up to the standard of a studio-produced version.
I appreciate that this is a John Lennon song and some may say that he cannot be touched. But this is really wonderful, a better version in my own view. I had the pleasure of seeing Glen a little while ago and thought this stood out. God bless our love.... and God bless Glen
This version is really wonderful.
