dude, I love your stuff but man..'.I will be your friend that you never met' & tell you never to grow your hair like that again!!!! Looks like Meatloaf when he was a teenager!!!
the meaning of this song is so badass.. like he wrote this song for a friend he'd been talkin to over the phone about meeting up finally and jammin some epic guitar stuff but couldnt cause his friend died and the never jammed hence the friend he never met
@cstartist12 ya... he wrote it for Michael Hedges! do a search for "Michael Hedges - Because It's There" .... you'll instantly understand why Andy wrote this song this way :)
@cstartist12 Yeah @beatshack is right, copy and paste this into the search bar "Andy Mckee - Into the Ocean & The Friend I Never Met - The Mint 2/13/2009 - pt. 5/7 (HD)" and go to 5:40 and he starts explaining his reasoning for writing this song.
When you have intonation, it's almost like you can hear two notes when you tap; but the note that comes from intonation is so dissonant, and so high pitch, that to the trained ear, it sounds kinda ugly to be honest (I'm not saying his playing is ugly, just the notes that come from intonation are).
I might be off on my definition, you can google it.
ohhh okay! hahaha yes as a guitar player myself, i know what you're talking about. I just didn't know there was a term for it... i thought it was a bad thing to not have intonation.
Normally it would be a bad thing - it would mean you're playing out of tune (on a non-fretted instrument). I haven't heard jkshoujk's definition before.
he means he still had "just intonation", not he still had intonation. Intonation is the description of tuning itself, just intonation it a type of intonation, just like equal temperament is.
I love this ong because I love the simplicity, and even though it's difficult to play, the concept is fairly simple. And the harmonics just blow me away :)
Spectacular skills man I like it he is a one man band not too bad

still had intonation? what's that supposed to mean?
L0wps 3 years ago
It's when the strings aren't "perfectly tuned".
When you have intonation, it's almost like you can hear two notes when you tap; but the note that comes from intonation is so dissonant, and so high pitch, that to the trained ear, it sounds kinda ugly to be honest (I'm not saying his playing is ugly, just the notes that come from intonation are).
