  • Spectacular skills man I like it he is a one man band not too bad

  • OMG It's the first time i see he miss... 0:58.

    But it still pretty cool.

  • the secret is the hair .Take notes guy

  • Haha, i notice he switched his appearence, grew some facial hair, and shaved the head!...seems backwards to me now!

  • his hair moved down to his chin so he cud hear the music better

  • Love and Light...

  • I guess this was before his hair discovered his talents? I'm quite sure that right after that concert, his hair turned into a beard. :X

  • imagine the guitar case

  • Looks like Jesus..

  • So, who's this long-haired guy? lol

  • dude, I love your stuff but man..'.I will be your friend that you never met' & tell you never to grow your hair like that again!!!! Looks like Meatloaf when he was a teenager!!!

  • i want one of those guitars

  • Not bad but I'll take Mike Hedges anyday!

  • the meaning of this song is so badass.. like he wrote this song for a friend he'd been talkin to over the phone about meeting up finally and jammin some epic guitar stuff but couldnt cause his friend died and the never jammed hence the friend he never met

  • @cstartist12 ya... he wrote it for Michael Hedges! do a search for "Michael Hedges - Because It's There" .... you'll instantly understand why Andy wrote this song this way :)

  • @cstartist12 Yeah @beatshack is right, copy and paste this into the search bar "Andy Mckee - Into the Ocean & The Friend I Never Met - The Mint 2/13/2009 - pt. 5/7 (HD)" and go to 5:40 and he starts explaining his reasoning for writing this song.

  • goddamn thats a lot of hair

  • Thats the wildest looking guitar ive ever seen. That being said he sure does play it well.

  • He looks like a teddy bear asleep on his cloud !

  • never seen these guitars before... its got some extra snares for the low tunes and it sounds great! i could never play anything like this!!!

  • this is andymckee?

  • yes, younger and much more hair that time

  • i like his pants xD

  • he looked different back then

  • That was probably the most lousy round of applause I've ever heard in my life.

  • The guitar that makes me hungry! Look like a fried up greazy drumstick.

Oh yeah, finger lickin guud. :P

  • man.. i love and hate you .. lol :)

  • His style has really changed a lot since then hasn't it. I like both though

  • Fortunatelly his music style didn't change and his tallent grew even bigger ! : D

  • Anyone got a date on this?

  • This is gotta be anywhere between 1998 and 2002, maybe.

  • this song is really amazing. one of my favs.

  • is.....is he playing a chicken?

  • Naw it's the Harp Guitar, a.k.a the Boomstick, the Drumstick, and it's even a.k.a the Dr. Seuss-o-phone. :)

  • yah, thats a chicken. lol XD

  • ROFLCOPTER awesome... bought that at KFC =D I might as well go down there and get myself one of those..

  • Back when Andy still had intonation on his guitar... and long hair.

  • still had intonation? what's that supposed to mean?

  • It's when the strings aren't "perfectly tuned".

When you have intonation, it's almost like you can hear two notes when you tap; but the note that comes from intonation is so dissonant, and so high pitch, that to the trained ear, it sounds kinda ugly to be honest (I'm not saying his playing is ugly, just the notes that come from intonation are).

I might be off on my definition, you can google it.

  • ohhh okay! hahaha yes as a guitar player myself, i know what you're talking about. I just didn't know there was a term for it... i thought it was a bad thing to not have intonation.

  • Normally it would be a bad thing - it would mean you're playing out of tune (on a non-fretted instrument). I haven't heard jkshoujk's definition before.

  • he means he still had "just intonation", not he still had intonation. Intonation is the description of tuning itself, just intonation it a type of intonation, just like equal temperament is.

  • a blast from the past! These videos are so awesome! It was the time when barely anyone knew him. Thats so awesome

  • looks more like don ross there

  • Wow, I'm so used to seeing him without hair. Still amazing playing either way though.

  • I love this ong because I love the simplicity, and even though it's difficult to play, the concept is fairly simple. And the harmonics just blow me away :)

  • first thing i thought when i saw this video was "no way that's andy mckee! the hair's too long!"

but his awesome playing proved me wrong

    :)

this older video goes to show how much his music has evolved since then.

  • this is beautiful, yeah i remember Michael Hedges introducing the harp guitar to the audience when windom hill was a baby.

  • 5*.

  • what kind of instrument or what kind of guitar is that?

  • its a harp guitar

  • Spatial. Another dimension. Spiritual communication through music. Awesome.

  • Woah!!! Youngness, and hair...and no beard... and still a phenomenal guitarist. Andy Mckee forever.

  • you can deffinately hear and see the micheal hedges influence

  • what a nice person :)

  • Amazing sound, truely inspirational. Shame there was a nasty buzz from the audio recording, but forgiveable for the content! :D

  • I have never seen a harp-guitar before, it is a realy beautiful piece of music, it reminded me of an instrumental by pink floyd. bravo!

  • kyle gas look alike lol

  • is those guy of LOST ?

  • shit! every single note pierces into my heart

  • he was a member of the kelly family?

  • I love this song.
