  • IFAW has not issued a statement stating Inuit are cannibals. One person made that bizarre statement at the demo - that has nothing to do with IFAW or any other organization that opposes the seal hunt.

Inuit can expect a negative reaction from the public as long as they insist on aligning themselves with eastern sealers who are infamous for their cruelty. Inuit shame their ancestors by condoning and defending the cruelty that is inherent in the commercial seal hunt.

  • Anti-sealing groups like IFAW, and people who attend their rallies, imply that white coats are hunted via their use of imagery during campaigns and rallies don't they? Why?

What is your source for "over 90% of the seals taken are less than three months old"?

Seals, like many other animals, mature differently than humans - are not the seals taken in the hunt of a sufficient development stage that they are not dependent upon others for their food and survival?

  • He is most likely referring to the 167 page, peer reviewed European study that shows 95% of the seals killed in 2007 were between the ages of 1 month to 3.5 months old.

  • Er, the title of your movie is this:

"IFAW Thinks Canadian Inuit Are Cannibals?"

But you're right, not "specifically" saying it is very slightly different to implying it.

Yes, I am aware that there has been a whitecoat ban since the 90s. I am also aware that over 90% of the seals taken are less than three months old. As harp seals can live for up to 35 years I'd say that this makes them "babies".

  • I agree with jimmy. You need to be careful to avoid libel claims. If IFAW sees the title of your video and sees that the reason you put it there is because you have video of a couple people just saying that one person at a "pro-sustainable use" rally said that you'll open a can of worms for yourself. I'd wait for a statement from IFAW saying they consider Inuit are cannibals, which will never happen.

  • I did not specifically say that IFAW made the statement jimmytheslacker.

Second, and most important point IMO, if we are gonna talk about "extremely misleading" how about we talk about the whole baby seal line touted as part of the anti-sealing campaigns.

You do know that white coats have not been taken as part of the harvest for years, and years, and years don't you?

Was it misleading for someone to carry a poster of a white coat at the rally?

  • This is extremely misleading.

You're talking about a member of the public who suggested that you are cannibals, not IFAW.
