  • how old befor you Tatoo a rabbit

  • why have it in the ear?! aren't their ears delitate !

  • If ur afraid to tattoo it write it in permanent marker b4 the show and that will do too. :)

  • @pistoler001 Thats a DQ if they find out. Just be safe and smart and have someone else tattoo for you. It is not fun to waste $3.00

  • Either the bag or the numbing gel is very effective. I've heard rabbits squeel when they get tattooed in some instances. I don't own any, but have done some research through youtube.

  • that isnt necesary cmon

  • @deanogno1 : Sorry to say, it is required to show, or people could lie about a particular rabbits wins. Tatoos and wins are filed with the Rabbit Association. I have also identified a stolen rabbit by the tattoo, and found rabbits can be returned. So, it doesn't hurt as much as a human tattoo, more of like an irritating tickle. I know - I've hit myself by accident. ;-)

  • well i guess everybody does things different but is their air holes in that bag

  • @sessyfan101111 : YES, there is an air hole in the nose.

  • I recently tattooed one of my rabbits (with help from by boyfriend). My bunny was calm during it, but now has a grudge against my BF, and growls and thumps at him! How long do you think she'll hold a grudge?

  • Why can't they just be rung?

  • This is the standard in the US. It also helps me identify the rabbits parents and Date of birth. This helps when breeding to get the best combinations of parents for the best show quality babies.

  • Hello I am a 13 year old andhave a Mini rex and I am planning on showing him in 4-h but I am really scared because I'm afraid the bunny will be hurt and I'll start crying because I love him so much! What do I do? Thanks, Becca

  • The tatoo pen feels like being poked with a fingernail several times. It is a little painful but actually more irritating than painful. They also "get over it" very quickly. I suggest you choose a short number/letter. Only one is enough. I find they do not even react till the third character. You must do it for show. There is another advantage in that if you ever lose your rabbit it is easier to re-claim them. Do it, and give him a big hug afterward. It will be OK.

  • @Myminirexisthumper It doesn't hurt very much. I've had my own hand clamped. Don't worry, It surprises them more then hurts them. Its like getting a shot, not to bad. Just tatoo him. You can also get someone at the show to do it for ya.

  • I have a tattoo pen too, and I am always afraid I will press too hard so I feel bad since I have to go over it so many times lol

  • My pen suggests you go over the character three times. Then I clean the area with a baby-wipe and touch-up what I missed.

  • I gotr my Bunny-B-Calm bag and tatoo pen from barbibrownsbunnies (dot) com. She is located in Manteca, CA and will do mail order. Tell her Georgia from BunnyCentral sent you!

  • Where did you get the bunny be calm bag from? It's very handy.

  • what was the cream you put on first? and do you prefer the pen tatoo to the clamp? in the pen is the ink stored in it? great video thanks

  • I use throat spry for sore throats. I prefer the pen to the clamp as it is faster, and lasts longer. The clamp style tatoos tended to disappear, probably because I was reluctant to clamp hard enough or rub the ink in enough. So my tatoos disappeared after awhile. The pen "sucks up" the ink into the chamber and stores enough for a few characters. You may need to reload ink to finish depending how long the tatoo is. After tatooing you need to clean the pen using water, then alcohol.

  • I also I use teething gel for babies.

  • Mini lop, English Angora and dwarf hotot, I also have a trio of mini rex.

We do educational, petting zoo type bunny birthday parties. We are the "entertainer" at the child's party and I like to bring an assortment for the children to pet. The kids and the rabbits enjoy the whole thing. Time out to play!

  • what breed of rabbits do you raise? We raise mini lops, americam sables, and thrintes

  • that isn't nice! can't you just put a collar on the rabbit or something!!!

  • No, unfortunately people sometimes cheat in competition and the mark has to be permanent. There are many ways to do it and this is the most humane way used here in the US. A rabbits wins are recorded in a central database along with the gender and color when the rabbit is registered so that a person who cheats is less likely to get away with simply tatooing another rabbit the same number.

  • Also, as I said, I put a numbing agent on first and the feeling is more ticklish and annoying than painful. Rabbits also have a high pain threshold (in order to withstand being eaten alive in nature), so it is merely annoying. Also the ear is much less sensitive where the tatoo is placed than, your arm, for example.

  • @teenflon5 i agree with you!!!!!! It is so cruel. A collar would be much more humane

  • @Jaydeygirljayda They would accidently kill them selves with a collar my friend. Do the research. Rabbits don't like anything around them so they would do tons of things and get seriously injured....

  • So that prob. means he/she has a heritage.

  • yes the guy gave me his papers... maybe i need to buy a little crown. :-) he acts like a prince - a spoiled one that is. lol.

  • Funny, he must have been well loved.

  • that was interesting. my new rabbit has a tatoo number.
