  • 5:50, good song :D

  • Couple of tricks you might enjoy

rebound 25 has a pretty decent tear strength, if you put it on thick enough. Just roll it up over the helmet. not spiting it or at least not all the way would save on your seam cleanup. Try it sometime

Also To keep from cracking thin fiberglass(or any hard mold jacket) you can use shims to slowly start evenly dispersing pressure across the whole mold. keeps from warping the flanges. Hope any of that was helpful. Ive got more tricks if you ever need. just holler

  • @Silvarado205 Thanks for the tips. I have though about one piece molds but I haven't had the courage to try yet. =) Maybe the next helmet I do.

  • I have to say, these tutorials are extremely helpful for how I want to about molding my own helmet. Thanks for making these!

Question, though: Did you use two cardboard pieces for your jacket mohawk--one on each half?

  • @cssrocko I'm glad that the videos are helping. As for the mohawk, I only used one piece of cardboard but you could use two.

  • @xXBocephusXx Gotcha. It was hard to tell originally, so I was wondering if two layers would be creating too much of a seperation gap between each half of the jacket. Thanks!

  • So how many Mohawks do u need? 2? Or 1 because splitting one Mohawk looks hard

  • @MarioThePlush I usually just do one.

  • @xXBocephusXx nice work sir

  • you mentioned that it may have been a better idea to cut left to right across the helmet rather than front to back. if you do this do you need to do the cardboard/aluminum foil mohawk left to right as well? or would that matter?

  • @grandadmiraltony Yeah, you would still need the mohawk because it keeps the two fiberglass mother mold halves from sticking together.

  • @xXBocephusXx So would it matter what direction tehe mohawk went in relation to the cut in the orange? Does it matter if the mohawk is perpendicuklar to the cut or does it need to be in the same direction?

  • I may have overlooked it, but which video do you go over the fiberglass portion of the mold?

  • @silico3 I don't have video footage of me applying the fiberglass to this mold because I show how to work with fiberglass and resin in a different video. It's titled: How to build Halo armor Part 4: Fiberglass. I do however, talk about fiberglassing in this video.

  • 3) What If I wanted to make a glove mold instead? Would I just leave the silicon alone? As in no cutting?

  • @iTzOminousTic I believe so.

  • @xXBocephusXx

hey man. thanks for making these tutorials. they're great and they have helped me a lot.

  • @cookumms I'm glad I could help.

  • 2) About how much Rebound 25 did you use? I'm assuming around 56 ounces of it since you used 7 Ounces of Part A and B which = 14. So 4 layers of silicon * 14 ounces = 56 ounces correct?

I'm just wondering because I'm going to make a mold of my Daft Punk Guy Manuel helmet and I was thinking of getting 2 trial kits of Rebound 25 which would = 4 lbs of the stuff. and 4lbs turns into 64 ounces. So I should have enough, Right?

  • @iTzOminousTic Yeah I guess.

  • 1)When you apply the Resin/Fiberglass, Did you wait for the 4th layer of silicon to cure?

  • @iTzOminousTic Yes, you wait for the last layer of silicone to cure.

  • What do you use in the cast? to make the helms from the cast.

  • Really good tut, definitely going to use this method with my next mold, except I like to use glove molds instead of cutting it.

  • Thank You! Can't wait for your next video!!!

  • These are a great help. Thank you so much!

  • wheres part 3?!

  • Nice job and all, really good tut, but dude, don't use fiberglass use Paper mashe. A few good thick coats....i will be a lot cheaper.
