who cares about history anymore? yes we haven't the history of clubs like United, Liverpool but that doesn't matter. we needed to spend this money to get where we are now as do every other club who haven't been historically up there all the time. our trophy cabinet is growing, so are the fans and the size of the club. and ScouseStevieJ we have won 2 league cups, 3 fa cups and 2 cup winners cups before Abramovich. not great but we needed the finance to even get to the same level as the others.

America as a nation is often ridiculed for it's lack of history/understanding of anything other than their own immediate history. @ScouseStevieJ - obviously history still plays a part i'm not denying that but too much emphasis is placed on history. Not every club has a great history and new clubs have to challenge the historic clubs eventually. Liverpool fans are genuinely the worst when it comes to stuff like this as they use previous trophies in answer to the question of why they haven't won any recently (not saying you have said this btw). Chelsea were held back for generations because of the debt caused by the East stand, consequently we had to sell our best players and had to build teams with no money. In spite of all this we have maintained the 5th highest all time average attendance in England, proving the size of our loyal fan base.
