I know that they did it in takes, but I wonder how many puppeteers it took to create the entire 'Small World' segment. Looks like they had the whole "cast" out for it; I count at least 15 individual puppets.
According to what I have heard , Spike was going through a manic phase during to the filming of this episode. He suffered from maniac-depression through most of his life.

I love the Muppet Show, but this really wasn't a good episode. I don't know who this Spike Milligan guy is, but all he does is act like a moron, and it's not very funny at all. But then again, like any show, sometimes you get really awesome guests, and other times you're scraping the bottom of the barrel. I guess you work with what you've got, right?
@obliviousfafnir01 Spike Milligan is a comedic genius! The Monty Pythons have said that Spike influenced their writing and he's famous in British comedy for the Goon show where Peter Sellers (famous for the pink panther films) worked along side him. I agree that he wasn't at his best here though but it wasn't really his style. He couldn't show his full potential in this either as he only got small moments to perform. He's better with a live audience as well :-)
LMAO@ the fact that for one he's tryin to get Sam the Eagle PLUS @ the end he throws a pillow @ Kermit cause he can't get the folks to shut up while he's tryin to take a nap......CLASSIC!!!!!!!!!!
A pleasant evening.
Now an APAULLING EVENING!!
Now, comedy weather!

Hahaha, poor Jim Henson gets a pillow to the face and we don't even get to see his reaction. I bet he had trouble keeping Kermit serious.

I always thought he was a cuckoo, especially in the window sketch.

Was this a hint to the horrific deal of Disney buying the Muppets?

Haha, just look at poor Sam as the credits roll. He just knows Milligan is around there somewhere.
Gotta love that bird.

Only this show could call Disneyland a country and be taken seriously. XD

Statler and Waldorf obviously do know talent when they see it. Spike rules.

The Muppets rocked, for all age groups! Too bad nothing ever really succeeded in replacing them.

no international muppet show could be complete without the annoying song, it's a small world. :P
