how do you tell the sexes in ebjd"s because i have a femlae regular jd and i want to get her an ebjd to try and pair off with

@KANE2628 the top fin and bottom fins are longer and have pointed ends on them and the females have more of a rounded top and bottom fins and the males are more brilliant in color and the female usually look darker with an irridescent bluse markings on the gills

@KANE2628 there not easy to tell and chances are its a male but in general males have a steeper fore head and longer finnage, the only way to say for sure is once they drop there breeding tubes.

very nice fish! did you have any problems getting any of the EBJD to grow up? I bought 6 that were around 1.5" put them in a 38 gallon with a few swordtails (for target fish) they got along great a few months and I lost 3 of the EBJD in 2 weeks time water tests out ok temp is 74 degrees and ph is 7.8 no ammonia or anything of that sort and water changes done 2 times weekly

chances are most of them will be out of the 7 electric blues i had the only 1 i had was the 1 bottom left at 0:05 and the 2 normal looking j.d's were females

well males and females do the same thing to and if they wont leave each others side its sounds promising so fingers crossed. the pair i got at the mo beat the crap out of each other all day before spawning
