It waa evidently a very dark, introspective song.

The record producer that she had at the time - Mark Holden the bloke who used to hand out roses at his concerts and who was a TV Talent show judge for a while -

convinced her to change the word to "Shine" and rework the song in a more positive fashion

The result speaks for itself, a hit and a great catchy song !!

I reckon it's still a positive song even as 'die'- as in 'get off your arse and make the very best of your life, you haven't got it for long.' That's a pretty powerful message that doesn't need the fluff.

Now she wishes she never did it coz it got her the wrong sorta audience. Her music is quite dark these days, and she reckons she's always been like that. She didn't really want the teeny bopper audience.
