  • Please please will you upload Edward singing Champagne Charlie from his 20 golden favourites ,A Romantic Hour album ???

  • I didn't know he was such a great singer. I loved him in The Equalizer. He was a super actor. Indeed a man of many talents.

  • He did plenty of Shakespeare, TV, Plays, and Movies and could sing. He had a very manly voice when he sings. He was great. His friend talks about him. Of course like most of us, we only remember a couple of movies and The Equalizer, but he gave us much more.

  • Would could object to this gorgeous Jerome Kern tune?

    Thanks...a very nice rendition

  • @bronxbearbud Thanks for answering the question I was about to post - Jerome Kern.

  • ...the guy can certainly sing! Beautiful.

  • Wow! I know of Edward Woodward mostly from his superb acting as badass good guy McCall in the 1980s TV series "The Equalizer." I had no idea he was also an excellent singer. Super post!

  • Classic song, classically sung.

  • 3 people have no soul

  • hey edward woodward is my mums unkale

  • I wish someone would upload all the other songs on this album

  • Never even knew he was such a singer. Loved his acting performances, & now I so wish I could have seen him in stage musicals. He really was a great talent.

  • Wonderful. A fine voice - great enunciation.

  • what a handsome man.....

  • A wonderful man of many talents who took the long and winding road to success who I was priviliged to know.

  • I agree with overopensights: this version must sound close to what Kern intended on stage in 1914 - perhaps the first musical theatre ballad in "4/4" with a modern sensibility both melodically and lyrically. RIP, Mr Woodward.

  • legend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what a great man, such grace he had, but so troubled, thats why he was such a legend, rest in happiness my friend

  • @guinnesshands why troubled ??

  • loved the equaliser as a kid, still entertaining to watch

  • Two people who watched this need to be "Equalized"...........!

  • What a great voice.

  • My mum used to love Mr Woodward as "The Equalizer", and I loved him as the young cop in "The Wicker Man" (and also enjoyed him hosting "In suspicious circumstances"), but I didn't know he had such a beautiful singing voice! He was the whole package: very handsome, very good actor, and a good singer.

  • Wow, you did a great job with this. I knew him only as the Equalizer, where I thought he was the epitome of cool. Thanks for painting a much broader picture.

  • A MILLION THANKS!!! Just Tubed The Eq. pilot and Googled him and read that he sang. Saw that pic you have as a caption and clicked on to this. My mom was a fan and I watched too. I had the biggest crush I was 15!! I have dated older men since LOL!!!!! Amazing man.

  • @CatpurrRobertaBobbi Gets harder and harder to find those older men, though, as time goes by, no? Sigh...

  • Great images of a great actor and grand singer. Sad he's gone but one to remember

  • Wow! never knew he could sing, only ever heard the Mario Lanza version prior to this. LIke many posts I only knew him as an actor on the Equalizer.

  • Sound all rounder!...The Equalizer was him at the top of his tree though;)

  • He has such a sweet voice! I wish I could find his songs here in Malaysia! Sigh!

  • EXCELLENT!!!

  • Breaker Morant: Film Par Excellant

  • This compares so well with other famous singers who have done this; better I think for this song than Sinatra or or Dean Martin. I think Woodward sings it as Kerns intended it should be sang.

  • God bless your soul and may you always rest in peace Edward

i so loved the Equalizer as a child and i still love it as today

    and many other programmes too

    and this song is great

i so hope that i can get some albums as that would be good also i am sure

    LONG LIVE EDWARD WOODWARD!!!

  • Wow, I had no idea that he could sing! I only knew him from "The Equalizer"...

This is really baeutiful and what a great voice!

  • 1 ans déjà repose en paix Edward Woodward

  • So talented! He had a way about him that was hypnotizing in certain scenes. Anger or compassion---- no one could play those opposites like he could. I miss him. I can't imagine how his family must feel. Beautiful actor and a wonderful man!

  • This was my mother and father's song back in the 20's! It's so romantic! So beautiful! I love it. pattyellen1

  • 'EWAR WOO WAR'.....Class act all round, thanks for the post...!!!!

  • I like his singing so much that I go to sleep listening to his songs! Such a talant!!

  • Je le connais en tant que acteur, je ne l'ai jamais vu chanter, mais il chante bien.

  • He was always one of my favourites, great singer, great acto nice guy. RIP Edward

  • Edward Woodward would have to be on eof my favourite actors. And Breaker Morant one of my favourite films, even to this day. Still remember seeing him in Pirates of Penzace in as a 10 year old in Adelaide in the late 70's, and he cracked me up !

  • Wow..I didn't even know he could sing...beautiful voice.

  • What a guy. Sadly missed. Has anyone got him singing "I won't send roses" from Mack and Mabel? He sang it on the Des O'Connor show about 20 years ago and he was fantastic.

  • Great man, great actor, great voice.

  • Rest In Peace Edward... You made life just that much more rewarding...

  • I didn't know he could sing. What a lovely voice he had...when I heard he died I was so sad...I LOVED The Equalizer and even got a pair of red-framed glasses like his. He will be sorely missed.

  • nice1 eddy rip x

  • nice1 eddy ripx

  • I just learned something new about Mr. Woodward...Fantastic singing voice...Beautiful song! Amazing how many actors are or were also accomplished musicians, Avery Brooks, Stacy Keach, Dudley Moore, Dominic Chianese, & Micheal Moriarty are some that immediately come to mind, now I can add Edward Woodward to that list. I did an article in a jazz magazine a while back about this very thing, how I would love to have added "The Equalizer" to its' content..God Bless You, Mr. Woodward...A true artist.

  • Boy!!! This is an shock to me. I didn't know he could sing.

well great for him. Good clip

  • Very nice tribute. I had the priviledge of meeting him while working as a PA on the Equalizer (which I got after crashing a Holloween party at the studio). He had a fine sense of humor and humility as well.

  • What a beautiful post, and some wonderful pictures. Put together in a very fitting manner.

  • He was a mega talent!

  • My first great love as a kid in Mildura. Loving this! Own some of the albums in the 70's. Have posted on other songs. Am so thankful to whomever put this up. Please try and find me in Oz. Lou

  • He had a superb voice, reminiscent of the likes of Coward, Dawson, Sanders et al. It is probably true to say that one needs appreciate this era of music to fully appreciate his voice in all its splendour, but all who do, know they are truly privileged. Abilities & versatility like his constantly raised the bar. He was a fine performer & will prove irreplaceable. Were a festival dedicated to his career to occur, Hugh Jackman is a good choice to sing this as a tribute. Thank you. My compliments:)

  • great fellow!!

  • Thanks too for posting these rare pics of Edward in this video. Nice editing!

  • Wow, I have always been a huge Equalizer fan, but I didn't know he could sing like that as well!

    Thanks for posting this!

    Edward, we'll love you forever!

  • If CBS do a remake or even consider doing a remake on the EQUALIZER, I'm going to the CBS HQ, plant highly explosive bombs and blow up sum motha f*ckas :) -joke- but seriously I hope they don't do it.

RIP Edward, didn't meet you in life, but I'll meet you in heaven.

  • I understand a Movie version might come out in 2011.

  • AH HELL, if that ever happens I know it will suck. Probrably get someone like Jackie Chan to play Robert McCall knowing today's hollywood. He's a good actor, yet still o-0

  • No one will object to the posting of this song and tribute. Wonderful job.

  • RIP Edward Woodward

  • Sgt. Howie all the way! RIP Edward Woodward!

  • For me, he will always be the Breaker.

  • RIP Edward Woodward. A fine actor.

  • RIP great edward!!!!

  • I have loved him since Callan, and still do. I have about 5 of his albums but not this one, there is another out of date one I saw and missed out on at Ebay!

The pic of him on top of a piano? Was it from The Bass Player and the Blonde?

    i remember that on tv!

  • I have never heard him sing before now. He is a sensational and highly underrated actor and singer.

An upcoming independant movie called 'A Congregation of Ghosts' features Edward Woodward as the historical Rev. Densham, the 'Mad Vicar of Warleggan' from 1950's Cornwall.

A friend of mine attended an advance screening and describes Woodward's performance as astonishing in a role that Woodward himself has declared to be his final major film appearance.

  • What a blind ignoramus I must be. Having seen Breaker Morant and hearing Edward sing, here I am on You Tube, hearing such a lovely, smooth voice! Thank you!

  • I love Edward Woodward ever since my childhood days when my Dad had his records. MY Dad wrote to him to tell him how much I also liked him and I received a letter back from him with some signed photos.

  • I first heard Edward Woodward singing in the early 70's and I fell in love with his voice. I have only one album of his which I have had for over 30 years and I still play it.I still love him and his voice. My very best wishes to Edward.xxx

  • Does anyone know where I can write for his autograph? He's always been my favourite actor!

  • Ha! One of my relatives is going out with one of his relatives and my relative is going to get him to sign a Wicker Man film poster for me!....Jealous?.....No.....Oh Well!

  • That lp cover has such a great retro Victorian look of Mr Woodward as a music hall toff. I wonder if a copy of this entire recording could be found.

  • First time i saw him sing was on the Morcombe & Wise show I thought it was going to be funny I mean Callan singing but he knocked it out of the park. Fantastic actor and singer.

  • @kkjimbo check out my videos and you can see him do it again!

  • @kkjimbo

  • This is from Breaker Morant: The Musical

  • A really terrific voice!

  • Mr W used to have his own 'Light Entertainment' shows on ITV. He also did a West End Musical: "Two Cities" [which I still sing]. A splendid actor and a damned good singer.

  • a real great voice

  • sirbasildebrush let me tell u he is a wonderful singer, especially singing old music hall songs

  • The Voice - and the appearance. Great!

  • Great voice and great looking Englishman as well.

  • nice!

  • well I never...didn't know he sang as well!
