This reminds me of Dr Campells (sp?) discoveries with cancer back in the 50s (I think) but he found it was animal protiens as the problem. I found I can't have a lot of fats as a vegan. I do take some in - flax or olive oil. My body just does not break down fats like it use to. I healed gallbladder problems by living on Chinese congee for 3 months - which is a slow cooked rice porridge and basically fat free.

The wording of her website as well as the legal structure of her company and the location of the facility in Mexico lead be to believe that it is all about making a buck off dying people and avoiding civil or criminal charges. @meliemiles I went to her site because the name was mentioned repeatedly in a highly reputable brand name kind of way. When I really read the website, it kind of scared me. I encourage you to read it. It is a non-profit org that accepts donations, but it refers you to "facilities" in Mexico that are "licensed" by the org, and are for profit and cost big bucks. Her grandfather learned these techniques by experimenting on people. Also, it wasn't that many people so it was a little suspect.

@spacepatrolman If I had cancer, I would do water and green juice fasts and cut out certain proteins and fats. However this effect may vary based on the type and stage of the cancer. What I think we can all agree on is that we need hard core research into this idea with differing stages and types of cancers. The idea that the body consumes unhealthy cells to feed healthy cells during starvation makes total sense but we need to know that it works and maximize the effect.

@zigzigerblat Hi. Just for clarity on why the clinic is based in Mexico. It is not to avoid civil or criminal charges, it is because the FDA in America would not allow the several clinics that her father started in America to remain open once it was clear that he was getting way better results in curing cancer than any of the "traditional" methods that it (the FDA) approved through the drug companies in the US. Dr. Gerson was forced to go to Mexico, he didn't go by choice.

@profkamin That does not make sense as the FDA's job is not to shut down clinics for any reason. Think about it, there are many fasting clinics in the US that do the same thing as this organization. I think what makes sense is that they wanted to retain the non-profit status and to be able to claim medical results.

@zigzigerblat I agree that it dos not make sense, unfortunately that is what happened. The same thing happened to Harry Hoxsey in the 30's. His father came up with a cure for cancer, which the AMA admitted in open court worked, and while he was operating 17 clinics across the country, the FDA, at the behest of the AMA walked into every one of them and shut them down simultaneously. Now his clinic is in Mexico City, and US patients can only bring a month's worth of medicine home. Sick but true.

@profkamin I looked up the Hoxsey guy and this guy was treating people for many years. There was real data available and it looked like he did not cure anyone. He probably hastened the death of many people. I think the Gerson method is far more likely to work than that guy but like I said, their claims are not yet proven and the non-profit status, relocation to mexico and the sales-like talk of Mrs. Gerson do not give me a very reassuring feeling.

My mom and I went to a Gerson orientation- one of the best experiences I've had! We learned their methods for preparing food. It's really upsetting that they were never recognized as a "real" medical clinic for treating cancer and so began their work in Mexico. Charlotte is extremely sharp for her age & most caregivers have beaten their own cancers! I'll stay raw for now. But if ever cancer hits me or my family I will no doubt choose Gerson :)

My maternal grandfather died of leukemia and my mother had two battles with breast cancer. The second battle the doctors were not encouraging and said he had metastasized too far and was inoperable. She did chemo and a modified Gerson for 7 mos. The chemo was horrible, but after 7 mos, the cancer was gone. The doctors were amazed. Another great resource to read for cancer is The China Study.

I love Gerson & his daughter. He was WAY ahead of his time. A true scientist. Unfortunately like all true explorers the "flat-worlders" persecuted him. The Gerson Story is a biography of his life.
