I have only read a few comments, but anyone who has any criticism for anyone who has lost a child is cruel. So he or she has lost faith, that is understandable. The worst emotional pain that can be inflicted on someone has befallen this person. If you have faith, then go with it, but also have the compassion and decency to know that when someone has been subjected to pain of this sort, they may lose faith. And if you are a person of faith, you will show them love, compassion, and understanding.
For the guy who made this song his theme song after getting clean, Good for you, I know it wasn't easy. I've walked in your shoes and it took me 3 times before I really got clean. What an appropriate song.
After a group of friends and family got together to pray for my friends sobriety we seen a rainbow later that day and the next day he went to rehab. This song reminds me of the beautiful day.
The Chinese figured it out 5000 yrs ago:life is yin/yang. Positive/negative. Good/Evil. When negative things come into your life, throw positive back at it. I lost my 17 yr old son to a car accident in 2006. Adam was a fantastic kid and was the kind of kid who stuck up for the kids who got picked on in high school. He had a true golden heart with a genius mathematic mind, but died on his way to CCD class. I have no more faith in "GOD". Yoga & counseling got me thru it; not drugs or dwelling.
@djphongirl I understand your hurt and deep pain and i feel sorrow for you, but suddnely not having faith in GOD is inconsiderate in my opinion! You have to understand that kind and innocent people such as Adam are lost everyday to their loved ones! So deciding to suddenly stop having faith in GOD when YOUR child is lost, does not seem to percieve to me as if you EVER believed in "GOD" in the first place!
@AZoneone ...thank you, but you have no idea of the pain involved in losing a child so don't be so quick to judge or comment Your words were ignorant and uncomforting and I hope you never have to go through the pain and post traumatic stress order of losing a child. I told the priest I was mad at God and he said "that was okay and he can take it". and I will be mad at God...forever and ehhhhhhh-verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
@djphongirl I am sorry for the lost of your son but If you had true faith in God, you wouldn't have lost your faith in him after your son died. Your son was just storm the Lord used to show u what was in your heart..
Although I'd heard this song when it came out, and probably even saw this performance, as I was an avid viewer of the Midnight Special, over the years the Jimmy Cliff version became the most popular. It was not until a friend of mine told me of Johnny Nash singing this, and my listening to it, that after 35 years or so, I remembered it was his song, and a fine one, too.

DEDICATED TO THE LOVE O OF MY LIFE MEL ...THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNCONDITIONAL LOVE..**I CAN SEE CLEARLY NOW MEL YOU ARE THAT RAINBOW I BEEN PRAYING IN FOR <3**
Love this song! Exacly me- tough on me when it's so cloudly and raining heavily for too long... When the rainbow appears in the blue skies, the sun shining again, I am so strong and happy again!
Thank you Johny Nash for a song which is a wonderful present!
After so many years and tons of suffering with PTSD, this song still brings serenity to mind and a deep feeling of trust.
Last V day, I put it up in our reunion; lots of tears and smiles altogether among the buddies. It has the same vigor after hearing for some hours the rockets whistles back in the jungle.
My theme song after 20 days in a psych hospital. Was admitted and diagnosed with bipolar disorder the week after I turned 20. 3/92. Went right out and bought the disc. Fortunately, I'm doing well & haven't been back since. I hope that all of you who are experiencing dark clouds will have bright shiny days on the horizon. :) (corny, but well intended)
Lottzapoppin, thanks a lot, same to you, the good Lord bless you.
You know, after every skirmish, after all LRRP and ambushes, I went back to my shack just to hear this music, the lyrics. It always worked in preserving sanity. Still remember that day when almost all buddies were wasted, I thought wouldn’t make it; but there was always that very bright sun shiny day. Still hear it every once in a while, a magnificent inspiration.
Johnny Nash appeared on the Shirley Bassey TV Variety series back in 1976. The clips first includes Shirley's hit cover of the classic, 'Light My Fire' then Johnny sings two hit tunes, 'I Can See Clearly Now' AND ' 'What A Wonderful World This Would Be' - Very rare video. Hope everyone enjoys!
This song can lift any soul out of the dumps... Thank you Mr. Nash and thank you Josegeraldofonseca for uploading this and contributing a big part in uplifting persons like me who is in the dumps...
I have been through a lot in my life. Lost my father to cancer at the age of 11, and lost my girlfriend to cancer after a 5 year battle and I am only 26. Sometimes just living life to the best of your ability can be a struggle but you gotta keep going, and in the end things get better. Which is why I love this song. When I am having a bad day, upset, crying or want to feel better this song always does it for me. Thank you Johnny Nash for making my life better just through a simple song.

@wkidd1942 - Um, 69 years old. But still a nice post. Glad to hear that Johnny Nash is alive and well, I hope. Such a great song! I love it! It always makes me feel good. This is a really great live performance too. : )
One day i had kind of a creepy xperience with this song.
I dreamed that i was with this child that seemed to be my daughter (I dont have any kids), and I could hear this song.
Ok, I woke up but I kept thinking about this song, I knew i had hear it somewhere but I couldn´t remember.
Later that day, at night, I was watching The Break-Up starting Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn. And at the end of the movie in the part of the credits, this song, (I can see clearly now) started to play.´CREEPY Xo
He must have been singing for a bigger audience than you or I. He doesn't mention the Lord, but that 's how you feel with Jesus in your heart. I want to sing it for my church.God made a promise with that rainbow. What a joyful song!
Yes is a little melancholy, but he is coming out of it How does he hold "sky" for soooooo Loooog and comes right out and starts to sing! When does he breath? Love this song but only when he sings it. Oh yah.

I sent this link to my cataract surgeon after she did her magic on both my eyes.
It was indeed a bright, bright sun shiny day! Thank you Dr. A!

Hmmm....65 people wouldn't know good music from their own ass, probably because they have their head shoved up it. Just sayin'.

Oh yah.
