What I'm hearing and experiencing here is true musicianship. Marcus has many sides to him and while slap/funk is a strong suit for him, he has proven he is just as comfortable no matter what he's playing. As an owner of a Marcus Miller Fender Jazz, I know full well its versatility and range. Clapton, Sanborn and Marcus have it down here. Steve Gadd has it in the pocket right from the beginning. This is exactly what I listen to and focus my own playing on. Thank you for this video.

It seems, this song is hell a funky, so some folks get comatose from 6:52 to 7:42 .
His name is Joe Sample and he was in the comitee, when groove was invented.
