Anything you record yourself, be it video or audio, is your own property in Britain, to do with as you will. It doesn't matter who you tape, it just matters that obtained the material legally. Examples of obtaining stuff illegally include filming whilst trespassing and wiretapping, neither of which are relevant in this case.

It is illegal to go about making taking footage of the public in Britain without their permission. If a police officer see's you filming in a public place such as swimming baths or a childrens play area in a park, then you will be required to leave. I wouldn't be surprised if they would check the footage on the camera, too.

At University we are always cautioned about being very careful when filming outside of campus.
