Since when has Iraq seriously threatened you as a nation? If they were a real threat why did you arm them in the 1980's, and back Saddam until 1991? Most of the rest of the Middle East is under US influence (Jordan, Saudi, Israel, Qatar, UAE et al) so I fail to see why the US is worried about it's 'democracy'.

Well actually they effectively are. Unfortunately due to the use of outdated cluster munitions (which have a failure rate of 5-10%) they are also mining large areas, leaving the young particularly exposed to the danger of death and maiming.
