You are 100% correct brother. Last week I had drummed to 2 tracks from Prince's Purple Rain and in minutes received a notice from youtube they were removed by notice from Warner Borthers. I no longer will BUY ANYTHING FROM WARNER BROTHERS INCLUDING MOVIES, CARTOONS, MUSIC, NOTHING! I see why Prince told WB to go F@#$*&K themselves! There's two major problems with the copyright counter-notifications: 1. We simply shouldn't have to counter-notificate anybody, since what we're doing is not illegal and we're not criminals; 2. It doesn't always work. I've counter-notificated the ass off of the system and still got peanuts.

When a song is played on the radio there's usually an exchange of money about the rights to broadcast the song. Since they're doing that for profit, then they need to do that. HOWEVER, we're not doing our covers for profit. We're looking to get comments and criticism about our playing, which constitutes fair use. We're paying tribute to the artists, which constitutes fair use. The record companies want absolute control.

I disagree. They do have plenty of money already, but they also have an unsatiable hunger for more, and that's where we come in. It is we that made them millionaires, and we very well can take that away from them. Specially during these times. There's more of us than it is of them. They're just a couple of guys that want a golden comb.

What I believe is that if what they do for a living is write music, and the company has more rights over it than themselves, the company decides where they play or were not, etc, that makes them, the bad, a company asset, hence, they're their property, and that has to stop.
