@MyriadesusTV NO, the "smart" car occupants do not have the same chance as hummer occupants. Check out the crash tests. The "smart" car doesn't do any better than a geo metro against a wall. Crashing with any other car in a collision... the smart car not only stops but bounces backward sometimes getting airborne a few feet. Unlike a crash dummy, you have internal organs that will fail from such trauma. The manufacturers will never tell you that. It's basically a motorcycle with a shell.

Plus the Smart has a higher rating then the Hummer H3. If everyone would have trucks to drive, we'd be fucked and humanity would die off from lack of resources. Smaller cars are better and that's a fact.

@taylor22222222 GM did not acquired anything but the name 'Hummer' to built H2, which was also assembled by AM General. Frankly, GM did not even purchased the name - they leased it.
H1 even sold in GM dealerships still had AM General manufacture sticker. Price tag didn't go from $40K to $100K - sticker was already over $100K when GM began selling it. Fuel had little to do with H1 production end - it was new diesel emission rules for 2007 along with heavy demand for HMMWV due to 2 wars.
What I'm saying is prices still rose a substantial amount after the year 2000. Diesel did skyrocket about the time they quit production, but yeah I guess ultimately it was due to the emission regulations.
By the way, in 2004 I believe the base price was $129k.
@taylor22222222 Sticker for 2004 fully loaded wagon was $127K. H1 never had that many options anyways. 2003 model was not much cheaper. The price gradually increased like any other car on the market. The only substantial increase was the price of 2006 model due to completely different drivetrain.
Fully loaded doesn't exactly equate to a whole lot of add-ons considering there were only a few options above the base vehicle. So therefore I was pretty close considering when they were introduced into the market they were less then half of that price.

Cost of living more then doubled from 1992 to 2004. Property that was $100K in 1992 went up $500K by 2004. THE MOST expensive gasoline in NYC was $1.81 per gallon during the Gulf War. What was the price in 2004..? Whether H1 price increase was justified of not - later models had lot more for the money then primitive 92 model.
@taylor22222222 I doubt skyrocketed diesel deterred many potential H1 buyers. People were still buying all other high-end guzzlers and H1 was never easy seller. Considering the size and abilities, H1 is hardly a guzzler. Crumbling economy played more decisive role then rising gas price. Think of it this way: very few H1's are daily drivers and even less are the main means of transportation. So it's obvious when there was a necessity - people took high end sedan instead of heavy 4x4.

THIS TEST WAS RIGGED FROM THE START. First, I like how he said “ I could make 10 trips using the same amount of gas”.. BUT THAT WOULD TAKE ALL DAY LONG. @MyriadesusTV NO, the "smart" car occupants do not have the same chance as hummer occupants. Check out the crash tests. The "smart" car doesn't do any better than a geo metro against a wall. Crashing with any other car in a collision... the smart car not only stops but bounces backward sometimes getting airborne a few feet. Unlike a crash dummy, you have internal organs that will fail from such trauma. The manufacturers will never tell you that. It's basically a motorcycle with a shell.

Plus the Smart has a higher rating then the Hummer H3. If everyone would have trucks to drive, we'd be fucked and humanity would die off from lack of resources. Smaller cars are better and that's a fact.

I will agree not everyone needs a truck but I think the problem isn't the size of the vehicles but the source of propulsion (hydrocarbons = bad). Lastly calling smaller cars better is not a fair statement. I'd rather see one semi-truck on the road than 60 smart cars carrying the same cargo.

@taylor22222222 GM did not acquired anything but the name 'Hummer' to built H2, which was also assembled by AM General. Frankly, GM did not even purchased the name - they leased it.
H1 even sold in GM dealerships still had AM General manufacture sticker. Price tag didn't go from $40K to $100K - sticker was already over $100K when GM began selling it. Fuel had little to do with H1 production end - it was new diesel emission rules for 2007 along with heavy demand for HMMWV due to 2 wars.

What I'm saying is prices still rose a substantial amount after the year 2000. Diesel did skyrocket about the time they quit production, but yeah I guess ultimately it was due to the emission regulations.
By the way, in 2004 I believe the base price was $129k.

@taylor22222222 Sticker for 2004 fully loaded wagon was $127K. H1 never had that many options anyways. 2003 model was not much cheaper. The price gradually increased like any other car on the market. The only substantial increase was the price of 2006 model due to completely different drivetrain.

Cost of living more then doubled from 1992 to 2004. Property that was $100K in 1992 went up $500K by 2004. THE MOST expensive gasoline in NYC was $1.81 per gallon during the Gulf War. What was the price in 2004..? Whether H1 price increase was justified of not - later models had lot more for the money then primitive 92 model.

@taylor22222222 I doubt skyrocketed diesel deterred many potential H1 buyers. People were still buying all other high-end guzzlers and H1 was never easy seller. Considering the size and abilities, H1 is hardly a guzzler. Crumbling economy played more decisive role then rising gas price. Think of it this way: very few H1's are daily drivers and even less are the main means of transportation. So it's obvious when there was a necessity - people took high end sedan instead of heavy 4x4.

THIS TEST WAS RIGGED FROM THE START. First, I like how he said “ I could make 10 trips using the same amount of gas”.. BUT THAT WOULD TAKE ALL DAY LONG. That H1 Hummer that originally had a 6.2L diesel engine could get in the mid 20's in the MPG range with the right gearing, transmission and tire size could get an easy 25mpg on the highway and in the early 20's in the city. I cant believe people actually put a gasoline engine in a hummer...UGH!
