Thanks you so much for share youre knowledge with us. I already finish to translate yuoure lesson into guitar pro. i dont play drums but this will help me with the songs that im creating in guitar pro. Thanks a lot again (sorry for my english).
exelent exercise video ! i never thought practicing basedrum placement (and snaredrum placement) was so easy. superb explained ! 5 stars for this verry usefull exercise !
hmm i was wondering are you using the heal down technique for the bass drum? im trying to figure out which one to use since my bass pedal is really "springy" for some reason and always rebounds more than once on the bass drum
i've just started the drums, and looked at other teachers, you are by far the best one. before you i was just playing what sounded good, but man there is a lot of counting and everything that i need to learn.
Man, you are an awesome teacher with great insight into developing limb independence. Definitely a great method of learning. Keeping it fairly simple and effective. Great dog in the background, too!
hey man....im just starting out on the drums. And I find your video's extremely helpful. Please continue making instructional videos.....your the best teacher ive found, and look forward to learning more from you
I understand. I teach quarter notes first because they are easier for the beginner to understand and they can be subdivided into 16th notes later with the more advanced patterns.
It is not a matter of right or wrong. They can be written both ways, you just need to learn quarter notes before you can learn 8th notes.
yeah because rock is played with bass on 1 and 3 and snare on 2 and 4 but you play the hi-hat on 8th notes so it sounds the same but your measures arent screwed up. Helps to know how to read music correctly when you are reading charts.
I have read charts both ways. They are both "correct" according to the composer. I teach one measure phrases first (downbeat at the beginning, up beat on 3, the half-way point) then go into two-measure phrases and convert them to 8th note patterns with 16th note subdivisions, Years of teaching has taught me that this is the most effective approach.
I've been working on the permutations finding it hard at first especially the + beats but slowly getting there, thanks loads! your really helpfull, is there going to be a 3rd tutorial video ? :] Thanks Again.

I play mostly heel up. It allows you to use more of the muscles in your leg. Heel down uses mostly the ankle.

As you get used to more patterns you start to "feel" more than you "count". Learn the counting and it will help your feel.

this lesson is really good
the only thing is
youre teaching it all wrong
your teaching it as quarter notes
when it should be 8th notes
message me if you dont understand

Sabotage, if you have seen him play, he does NOT need lessons. He's not the biggest pro, but he CAN play, pretty good too.
Great job you have done, you really do know how to learn other people play :) Keep up the good work ;)
