Funny enough, people think of tennis as a classy sport, if only they knew how many of the fans were biased. trashy assholes.
It's hard enough to lose, but especially when it's the same person repeatedly. It HURTS. It's not about ego or being a sore loser it's about being HUMAN.
Almost everybody is a better winner than loser, why? Because it's better to win than to lose! Nole is more gracious in his loses. He should celebrate his victories, because they're hard fought, but he can be sometimes a little "in your face". I still like him, I know Rafa still likes him. And as previously said it's a little hard to swallow 6 finals loses in a year, and even worse when it's against the same player. People, it sucks. I know neither of you would be jumping from happiness.
while yall criticize Nole and Rafa as being sore losers.......at least they dont whine about like Fed did.......im not saying that Fed isnt a great champion but what he said about Nole and what he talked about of Nole was NOT champion-like AT ALL!!!!!!!!
@ambitiousdreamer8 Roger Federer has nothing to do this video. And also when he win or lose. He is calm, basically. At least. Roger is not a player who performs dirty gamesmanship. fake time-out. use self-centred time. too noisy and annoying play. etc. He is always a player of fair player more from them.
When people put videos like this they always tend to think that its either RUDE or JUST THEM HATING EACH OTHER!!!!! Fed should be the one whos a sore loser.......did yall not see his press conference after he lost to Nole in the semis of US open, i will never forget that conference, he was sooooo in a hurry to get to the conference room that no one was there yet but HIM.....HE EVEN CALLED NOLE AS "Laughing his way to the top", i dont understand why ppl dont look at him as being a poor loser...

Djokovic is an obnoxious winner, that is the problem here! If he were a gracious winner than I'm positive Nadal would not appear to have a problem with him (and who knows if he really does, he is exhibiting disappointment in losses, you all are reading too far into his normal reaction). I have heard and read and seen the obnoxious behavior that not only he exhibits but also his entire box. There are videos of Djokovic's coach doing obnoxious things after match wins. So, whatevs.
It's great that you put this together. I was commenting on this exact thing on other videos showing Rafa's and Roger's distant and unsportsman-like change towards Novak after match losses against him this season. Novak has always been gracious to those he's lost to, but now that the table has been turned the others can't seem to be as gracious back... And this video illustrates that perfectly.
I don't think it has much to with whether they like each other more, less, or at all. The biggest difference is that until this year, Djokovic was a distant third in the rankings known as much for his impersonations than his tennis. Toward the end of last year, he started taking it all more seriously, moved to number 2 after the Australian Open, then number 1 after Wimbledon. Nadal and Djokovic have played a lot this year, and are solid 1st and 2nd. That alone tends to foster some distance.
I like all three guys and think that all of them together make tennis a fantastic sport to watch. That being said, I cheer for Nadal, but I like Roger and Novak as well. Point is, while I don't dislike Novak for his dramatic celebrations after his big wins, I can see how it would make his opponents want to offer a lesser congratulations after the match. Also, Nadal is a very competitive guy and isn't happy about losing, it's understandable. I don't think Nadal is being rude, just not warm.
This just proves how skewed people's views are. They say that Roger is the sore loser, yet after a loss, he nods, treats his opponent with respect, taps them on the chest and says kind words no matter what. It doesn't matter what you say in the post-interview, it's your actions that count. When Novak was losing (I don't even like the guy), he was gracious and respectful. But not Rafa; he stalks off and is totally hostile. Yeah, sometimes you can't help it, but he keeps doing it. Respect is key.
Djokovic handles losing well...wait till Nadal passes Federer`s records. Then Djokovic is gonna be the Nadal and Nadal is gonna be the Federer we have today.
This video TRIES HARD TO PROVE THAT NOVAK IS RUDE...the picks are carefully chosen. The TRUTH IS TOTALLY OPPOSITE. RAFA IS THE ONE WHO CHANGED.
They were friends while Rafa was winning. Nadal can't stand to lose, so they are not friends any more. Besides, Rafa was making much more money when Federer and Nadal were top players. Novak sent them both to history...
@VojvodinaNet The images weren't "carefully chosen" I used the same footage from the actual matches that everyone saw on TV. It's not like I have access to multiple views, all the video is from various youtube videos of the matches. There is no bias toward either guy here anyway.
I don't think Nadal's reactions have anything to do with bad sportsmanship at all. Indeed, Nadal is one of the best sportsman of any sport, as are Djokovic and Federer. I think Nadal has such high expectations of himself and when he does not fulfil them he is upset and these emotions are most raw at the handshake, when faced with someone who caused the pain. Read Nadal's autobiography and you will understand!
Djokovic is far far more sportive than Nadal and even Federer imo... Because as a world no.3 , he's lost a lot to these guys and knows what it is like to lose... but Rafa is having to face such a thing for the first time and is struggling to live with it... He just has to accept the fact that Djokovic is a much better player than him at the moment!
I know that this is just the clips of their handshakes after matches but to see how close they seemed, I think the vidder should have included the vid of one of them (I think Nole) running towards Rafa when they see each other across a field, and then hugging him. That was I think the height of their bromance.
I know that this is just the clips of their handshakes after matches but to see how close they seemed, I think the vidder should have included the vid of one of them (I think Nole) running towards Rafa when they see each other across a field, and then hugging him. That was I think the height of their bromance.
@HaraldBorst Yeah, most of those came when Nadal was in his early prime and Novak was still breaking through, plus the 0-9 score on clay for Nadal prior to this year.
I think it has nothing to do with their friendship has changed just cuz Rafa kept losing. In reality Rafa has a great pride and don't want to be consoled when he lose. But when he wins in this kind of big tournament, he understands how the other would feel, so he would offer consolation. And most of the time the other player accepts it. just Rafa can't accept consolation cuz he didn't want to show his weak side.
I see Nole brushing off Rafa when he started beating him. Like he didn't have time to chat about it anymore. Probably part of the mind game to set up the next match. But they're obviously both different actors depending on whether they lose or win. That's only natural.
I think Rafa reacts how normal ppl do in defeat & Novak is obviously very gracious in defeat.
On the other hand, Novak loses his damn mind when he wins with all that macho chest pumping egotistical crap. I wouldnt be all warm & lovely at the net if he's doin all that before we even shake hands. Rafa would be easier to congratulate IMO bc he might rejoice a little & then he's rushing to the net.
Just depends on how you look at it.....I think things will be more even between them next year though.
@MetroGoddess20 Serbs see little point in hiding one's joy when attaining a victory. On the other hand it is important to be a good sport when defeated. Being a b**** about it... not cool (not necessarily saying that Nadal is this way, but Federer in the US semis... DEFINITELY!) So, yeah, I guess it's the opposite in West Europe. When you acheive something you have yearned for all your life show no emotion (where's the fun and point in that?) while when you lose whine and sulk. Whatever.
@hellraise22 why would anything change because its 2012? he has beaten him 6 times in a row ... and that will all change because we go from 2011 to 2012 ? .... do u believe in magic?
@telmolicious Exactly. It's absurd to assume that Nole is riding on a wave of confidence and that will end in 2012. You can't run in a wave of confidence for a whole year! There are a lot more things going on for him at this moment, like his game which is all tight up and he's the most complete player out there, no weaknesses. He's also taken the sport to a new level and the rest of the field will have to step it up if they don't want a repeat of this in 2012.
The person was saying he has to defend many more points, which adds more pressure... not to mention new tournaments and surfaces come back around. Nadal had a stellar season for the majority of 2010, Novak owned 2011. Things change. It was a totally logical comment.
@britrob24 Allow me to paraphrase your thought: Yes, because of his 3rd Oz Open which he had a bit more difficulty of winning because he had one less day of rest after a 5 hour semi-final. That is the only reason it was close. Otherwise, 7 wins in a raw.... as I said. Feel free to visit after the next one ;)
The person was saying he has to defend many more points, which adds more pressure... not to mention new tournaments and surfaces come back around. Do you believe in taking your head out of your ass before making comments?
@britrob24 hmmm ... a player being nr 1 in the world ... winning almost everything in one year letting the pressure get to him ... hmmm ... I guess it's really ur head up ur ass ...
I don't care what he did he's a human being, it happens. Everyone is affected by the "best player" pressure. Do you honestly think that because a player changes his game and instantaneously starts wins everything that it automatically continues? Or that he doesn't feel defensive? No one expected him to "magically" start winning everything just because 2011 rolled around but it happened. Had he lost the final set last week I doubt you'd even have a remark.
It's true. Rafa doesn't like to lose. His handshakes after victory are definately different from those after defeat, but that's understandable. Still, I think he is gracious in defeat and not at all a sore loser. But is't clear that Novak has him ratteled. Nadal is not used to losing to the same guy 6 straight times, especially on his beloved clay. But Rafa will no doubt turn this around quickly. The Djoker has had an absolutely incredible season, but how much longer can he keep this up?
The reason for this is that Nadal after winning talks to Nole and he makes him feel better. Who does that? Nole after winning just hurts himself with constant hitting on the chest and cheering. Nadal will come back!!!
@dzarla exactly, to me Rafa is gracious and humble...as much as I admire Djokovic and what he's achieved he's gotten a huge ego and his excessive chest thumping and screaming just is a big turn off. I know Rafa will come back, he's way too talented and proud not to figure out how to beat Djokovic again ;-)
@LGHHJHH Haha, sorry :p The Smash Mouth version was a bit more upbeat and modern--perhaps I can do another version with Borg-McEnroe and use the original version :D
I think Rafa already accept , as he mentions all the time that they play, that Nole is better than him and it's playing amazing. I thnik is just Rafa frustration that makes him react very serious. Also Rafa is not as outspoken as Nole is, just look as Nole's reactions when he win, I mean he look almost crazy (not that I find it bad, he deserved to celebrate, a lot).
Nole has certainly played fantastic this year, and he deserves to be recognized.
I think Rafa is closer to Fed, but I do believe he has a friendship with Nole.
But, I think after the US Open, it took everything Rafa had to not break down in tears, so the stoic look. Tennis is a great sport, and look forward to more finals between Rafa and Nole. Vamos Rafa.
What a difference a year makes.. just look at last year's uso ceremony, nadal commending djokovic's attitude, djoker tries to steal the cheque. Now they can't even stare at each other. IMO nadal is angry, internally thinks its lack of execution rather than Djokovic playing at a higher level.Once you accept that your opponent is too good it becomes easier to lose.
@deadlyboss01 Agree. Nole has always been too gracious as a loser, it's not common that attitude in elite sports. Nadal's is more normal, though obviously I don't know what that says about Nole and Rafa, lol. However I still think they respect each other a lot, but those losses against Novak are hard to stomach for Rafa because they meant that his dominance in the tennis field lasted just one year and a new king emerged.
@deadlyboss01 what do you mean once accept that your opponent is too good it becomes easier to lose??
What a dumb thing to say! You can never accept that kind of thing in sport, especially if you are a professional athlete. Your mentality and goals always have to be focused on winning and beating the opponent. Why bother competing for then?
@Bosnaa4Ever Well it is true is it not? it becomes easier to accept defeat knowing deep down that your opponent is too good. Clearly you have never heard of the notion of losing to a better opponent.
you. He still does not belief Djokovic is the real deal and is expecting him to return back to earth.
If Djokovic continues this pace naturally Nadal will swallow the defeat much easier.
@deadlyboss01 duuuudeee..fair enough you lose to a better opponent on the day..even if its 5 times in a year in finals or whatever. But to accept such a thing in the long run is just not an option for these kind of players. That will never happen , its not in their mentality..ESPECIALLY NADAL who is a born fighter. Dont forget that tennis is a mental game and if you accept defeat you never stand a chance.
I love the part at the end where Nadal doesn't even want to acknowledge Novak's existence! Good stuff.

Exactly what was this supposed to show?
It's common practice for the loser of the match to exit as fast as possible, out of disappointment AND respect.
The pattern of their post-match exchanges hasn't changed from one year to the next.

@telmolicious
The person was saying he has to defend many more points, which adds more pressure... not to mention new tournaments and surfaces come back around. Do you believe in taking your head out of your ass before making comments?
britrob24 3 months ago 2
@britrob24 hmmm ... a player being nr 1 in the world ... winning almost everything in one year letting the pressure get to him ... hmmm ... I guess it's really ur head up ur ass ...
telmolicious 4 weeks ago
@telmolicious

@britrob24 no ... because my whole argument was based on the fact that he was gonna continue beating rafa which he did ....

Rafa is a pissy bitch. You win some you lose some. Get used to losing, loser!

Nadal is a sore loser!
Have to give it to djokovic, look at the diferences of behaviour of djokovic and nadal when they lose.
duartenalves 5 months ago

Pa budi prijatelj i u porazu a to je Novak odlicno postovao,a Rafa i nije bas...

The reason for this is that Nadal after winning talks to Nole and he makes him feel better. Who does that? Nole after winning just hurts himself with constant hitting on the chest and cheering. Nadal will come back!!!
dzarla 5 months ago

However I still think they respect each other a lot, but those losses against Novak are hard to stomach for Rafa because they meant that his dominance in the tennis field lasted just one year and a new king emerged.
gomagazinebcn 5 months ago 26
@deadlyboss01 what do you mean once accept that your opponent is too good it becomes easier to lose??
What a dumb thing to say! You can never accept that kind of thing in sport, especially if you are a professional athlete. Your mentality and goals always have to be focused on winning and beating the opponent. Why bother competing for then?
Bosnaa4Ever 5 months ago
@Bosnaa4Ever Well it is true is it not? it becomes easier to accept defeat knowing deep down that your opponent is too good. Clearly you have never heard of the notion of losing to a better opponent.
you. He still does not belief Djokovic is the real deal and is expecting him to return back to earth.
If Djokovic continues this pace naturally Nadal will swallow the defeat much easier.
deadlyboss01 5 months ago
@deadlyboss01 duuuudeee..fair enough you lose to a better opponent on the day..even if its 5 times in a year in finals or whatever. But to accept such a thing in the long run is just not an option for these kind of players. That will never happen , its not in their mentality..ESPECIALLY NADAL who is a born fighter. Dont forget that tennis is a mental game and if you accept defeat you never stand a chance.
