  • exit stage left..........please......quickly

  • Gotta love that dance Taco does.

  • Anyone know where to find the lyrics for superphysical resurrection? I like the song but there are always the one or two words you can't quite understand.

  • I think the people who believe Taco's dead are probably confusing him with Falco.

  • I love this guy!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • WOW...HES JUST NOT A NORMAL PERSON

  • I'm not a dancer by any means but i had to go learn the charleston after this. (: Aha yeah Taco's still alive i went and saw him in concert in Germany. Not the same performance but still great.

  • I remember him. I loved the song "Puttin´On The Ritz" when it came 1983. I just love this kinda music. Fred Astaire is another favorite.

  • At around 5:20 he says. "See you 2009."

    HE KNOWS!!!

  • We can see the exact moment the crack epidemic hit the music industry. This is it.

  • @TheLastBrainLeft You know, it's a pity people like you can't appreciate a real performer and entertainer such as Taco. At least he doesn't just stand there like he's carved of wood. He moves, he smiles, he shows expression and he smiles. Can't say that about some of the "entertainers" of this day and age. It's just too bad that you haven't learned to appreciate a truly great entertainer.

  • I think this was one of the first youtube videos I watched, and then my computer was in an accident a few months later. Now I finally get to see it again. This is awesome.

  • Taco is performing regularly in Germany and has three appearances in Russia coming up. If you Google his full name (Taco Ockerse) a bit of info. comes up, but an official site is in the making, as is a biography.

  • Do you have any idea what Taco is doing now? My friend and I were just talking about him last night. There's nothing if you search for it on the web. Do you know his real name?

  • Hi,

Taco is on 6th December 2009 in my Restaurant in Bremervörde/Germany and do his show.

    So he is still alive...

  • @FredericaBimble

Taco Ockerse is his real name(he's Dutch)

  • i wonder who does his beats. dope shit.

  • Lol, that's SVT1 <3

  • Glad to see Adam Rich is doing so well

  • this dude looks like my aunt darlene lololol

  • this guys face is extremely annoying.

  • He is SOOO creepy D:

  • quite wench.

  • Those were the days :D

  • (kicks Krazy in the balls and does a pile driver on him)

  • After this.. I'mma go buy some tacos

  • Is he still alive today ?

  • Very much so and still performing in Germany. Just as talented and classy, IMHO!!

  • taco is very alive, he only does local shows these days, not sure where at

  • @Brumbazzen

He's alive and kicking :) He's also been in Romania at the beggining of April

  • SVT!!!

  • Poor Taco! Reduced to lip syncing and sweating in front of a bunch of old half blind women who won't remember what happened the night before all on a third rate European TV show!

    Truly sad!

  • taco sucks the only ok song is putting on the ritz

  • Never saw or heard this one. Thanks!

    Happy birthday, Taco!

  • Why is this scary to me?

  • why are people talking about 2009 somebody help me out!

  • Hi, Guard3226! In "Superphysical Resurrection," he says, "See you 2009!". Well, some of us YouTubers take this stuff pretty seriously and 2009 has now been declared "Year of the Taco," meaning it's time for his big worldwide comeback!! I'm working on a book about the "Ritz" phenomenon and his career; still waiting for him to jump on board. Life is good in the Tacozone!

  • Oh thank you pikelsnpixies

  • Fellow Youtube user Dina1398 has some footage of Taco performing LIVE just a couple of months ago. :)

So perhaps he is making a worldwide comeback. :)

  • wtf is the ending????????????

  • DAMN! that sucks. Falco died? I never knew that... Amadeus was a good tune.

  • It reminds me of Monsters Of Megaphone from Mr. Show.

  • wat's the first song called?????

  • It's "Charleston Medley" from the album, "Let's Face the Music and Dance", his second one. It's great and includes some excerpts from opera arias. Anything by the Taco is bound to be unique and sexy, IMHO......

  • his moves rock

  • wooooooow

  • Charleston, charlston ive put on you rabdubi puzziwoo said how bout u

  • damn he is sexy!!!!!!!!!!!!! q4a7sn

  • CUTIE!!!!!! i luv him i wish

  • What's the name of the secondo song?

'cause the frist one is "Charleston Medley"

  • It's "Superphysical Resurrection", released only as a single (although I think it's on a Greatest Hits CD, too). "See you 2009!"

  • Dude, I've been telling people for the past couple of weeks that Taco is coming back this year.... And, here, he basically throws it out there.... 2009 - Year of the Taco

I personally can't wait.... Just name a U.S. tour date, and no matter where it is, I'm there....

  • I think it would be hard for him to come back seeing as he was killed in a car crash in the late 1980s.Unlee you know something different.

  • Man... Taco is still alive... the one who died was Falco...

  • Yes, it was Falco - collided with a bus, I believe, in the Dominican Republic. The Taco is very alive and kicking in Germany and last recorded under the name Soul Brothers. Very lovable, the Taco....

  • swedish television (H)

  • Charleston, Charleston

    i've put on you

    next what??? cant figure out..

  • Charleston, Charleston

    Made in Carolina

  • @FattyBoy124 Rub-dub-a-dee, woozy-woo, so how about you?!

  • its like a creepy mix between Tiny Tim and Elvis

  • awful

  • Damn he ran right out there and started dancin...this is great!! No matter tha negative comments this is a great clip and kingstonlj it was A LOT of interesting characters durin tha 80's and its AWESOME!!

  • He's a ding dong dancing fourthmeal.

  • He sounds like Tiny Tim!!

  • w ... t ... f?

  • I LIKE WHEN HE TALKS ABOUT 1984!!!!

  • And 2009!!!! Hard to believe this clip is 25 years old! But it's Taco -- elegant and timeless, IMHO......

  • and when he says "see you 2009"! ;D

  • He's such an enigmatic person. I feel inspired by his creative, exciting persona. The 80s was full of interesting characters. I wish I had been my age back then.

  • Ive heard hundreds saying he should come back and play in the states what do you guys think?...Cmon hes HOT AS HELL in person! (:

  • i totally agree this dude is creepy

  • La crêpe de maïs farcie ockerse est légendaire dans poppin et le chant. Si votre bleu et vous dont savent où aller à pourquoi dont vous allez où la mode s'assoit mettant le ritz. The man is hot as hell in person!!

  • I'd buy all his cd's but they're way too expensive right now.

  • They sure are. Some of his best work is not even available on CD - almost all CDs are "best of" compilations that really don't do him justice. What I did was buy vinyl from Germany, then I had someone transfer them to CDs. This was especially useful for some of the 45s that were never on LPs. If I can ever find him, I would love to do a biography. If anyone in YouTube Land knows how to reach him, please let me know! I really think my idea could fly, but only if I locate the Taco!!

  • Great moves - is his real name Taco Ockerse? Where is he from? Anyone?

  • Yes, that's his real name. He is from Jakarta, Indonesia, lives in Germany, and is still singing. Check out the other videos of him here on YouTube. His albums are fantastic and one includes some passages from operas -- listening to him sing tenor arias is an experience! If you'd like information on the albums and singles, send me an email. Just love that Taco!!!

  • @Sledge101

Yes,that's his name :) He;s from Jakarta(Indonesia) and he lives in Germany since 1974.

  • hahah he could be a osmond brother ( i think i spelled the last name rite lol)

  • Dude. Taco is the fucking SHIT! Look at him go!

  • I don't know why u got -3 for that comment...you're absolutely right!! Taco OWNS!!

  • I guess people can't tell the difference between saying that someone is shit (which taco isn't), and THE shit (Which Taco absolutely is!!)

Its all good, though :) Taco rocks, and he'll ALWAYS be the fricken' shit! WOO!!

  • Well put, ideno1985!! The Taco still is, even with silver hair (sigh). Latest CD is recorded under Soul Brothers with Geff Harrison -- check it out on Amazon. Love the Taco!

  • he sure seems to enjoy what he's doing. a great artist. i love how he dances. too pitty he's not popular now. but why do we need taco when we have britney spears, right? does anyone know what he's doing now?

  • I love that shit he does at 2:13!!! If only I was that smooth!

  • I fucking love this shit! His moves, the music... YES! I can't watch it less than twice!!!

  • this is great!!

  • what was the second song?

  • "Superphysical Resurrection"

  • thanks man

  • And who the fuck is the first guy?

  • haha it's the same guy.

  • What language?

  • Swedish.

  • I think was arabic.

  • lol

  • This guy's a genius. Love him.

  • I do like the songs but very cheesy. This aint no Puttin' on the Ritz

  • awesome. but, it is VERY obvious he is Lipsyncing. lol

  • Gahhhhh Its almost 2009 now, thats so creepy ;-;

  • Lordie I was nuts about Taco back in the day. (yes I admit that LOL). Loved "Superphysical Resurrection" - which is the second song he does here! I think that was a vague attempt at a pop song that wasnt a throwback to a bygone era. Yes he's scary but thats part of the charm XD

  • Better hurry and make a parody of that because then the copyrighter punks can't touch it!

  • Yeay! Swedish! :')

  • Wow! Great to see this Taco video.

A bit corny maybe(and the dancing... eehrm no comment), but that's part of why I love this.

As a synth buff I also really love some of the synth string pads (Roland Jupiter 8 maybe?) even though the whole mix is very much on the cheesy side. But it's on purpose and made with a lot of humour and it fits the music perectly, at least in "Putti'n on the Ritz" ("perfect fits" he he)

Now it's up to us to create some tribute versions of some of his songs!!!

  • or maybe not

    or maybe you

  • Why is the video crushed in at the sides? Like wide-screen rotated?

  • Now it's gone... the fuck?

  • BAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAH "bored looking" audience members!

  • he scares me ...but this song was semi-awesome lol.

  • He's frightening

  • Amazing singer? Highly attractive?? Oh, please... Raise your standards.

  • That's a little extreme, but I agree that he's not pretty, and even more frightening with the facepaint... but dammit, I love "Puttin' on the Ritz" and he has one of the better sound quality recordings

  • I've been trying to contact Taco for the longest time, but he obviously doesn't have a fanmail address. However, I came across a luggage tag from one of his tours with his 'Taco' logo on one side and an address and phone number on the back. It's a start!

  • Man, you can't help but love Taco. He's an amazing singer, and highly attractive. I have no doubts he still is.

I have a Taco fansite coming up next month (possibly). For the people who have commented this video asking for mp3's, I'm adding a section to the site for downloads with music from my collection of Taco cd's and records. :)

  • Does anyone have this song (Charleston)? MP3 format? I'd like a good quality version of this.

  • Hey. Anybody figure out what in hell he says in the line...

"Charleston, Charleston. It really swings. And ??????????????????"

I'm baffled by this. It sounds like "And from it brings with me a thing in a plane". Argh, it's driving me batshit!

  • And fun it brings -???????????-

  • Charleston, Charleston

    ?? in Carolina

    Some Dance, Some Prance

    then idk ...

  • Made in Carolina

  • Charleston, Charleston

    Made in Carolina

    Some Dance, Some Prance

I'll Say there's nothing fine about the Charleston.

    maybe?

  • You know what scares me about this video? The haircut on that goofy guy in the very beginning! Positively chilling! That guy's helmet is a right mess!

  • Looks like a really bad bowl haircut. Those don't look good on ANYONE ... especially somoene HIS age (at least I think it's a guy).

  • That's not even a bowl! It looks like a hair helmet on one of those little "Lego" people, doesn't it? That's what it looks like to me anyway.

  • It's still a bad haircut .... I'm amazed he goes out in public like that.

  • It's from 1984. We all looked like that back then.

    Don't make it right, though.

  • Anybody else notice that his pants seem to be hiked up pretty high?

  • lol! It's an illusion...he's wearing a cumberbun. Notice it's shinier than his pants.

By the way, anybody, "what" with Georgia, Georgia? And also, "from it brings" what???? I can't figure out for the life of me what in the hell it is he's saying in those two lines.

  • An oldies trip with Georgia, Georgia? =)

  • You're right ....

  • That would explaini t, CSK ... was thinkin "Man - that looks SO uncomfortable".

  • I just hope that SHIRT doesn't see a resurrection ...

  • HEY, isn't that the puffy shirt from Seinfeld?

  • lol. no. because taco said "i'm not wearing this puffy shirt in front of all those people!" before performance. he chose an ordinary shirt ^^

  • pure class! can i get you a drink massa?

  • Taco needs a permanent gig somewhere in Las Vegas. Seriously. The man oozes charisma.

  • Well said. He's so bloody unique,he rocks!!!!

I love his version of 'La Vie en Rose,' and 'Carmela.' Basically I love all his songs, i.e. Ritz and 'Valentino.' If someone could post more Taco I would be eternally grateful, like an interview as I have never heard him speak. Cheers.

  • ha!! mein großmutter kennt taco persönlich kein witz! sie hat ihn früher in ihrmem auto durch hamburg gefahren!

  • Good stuff =)

Please tell her to tell him that we demand a comeback! =)

  • this song is stupid but i cant quit watching man taco is cool LOL

  • OOHHOOOH!

Did he say something about 2009?

    Well, we're getting close Taco!

  • Superb video! Taco was a terrific entertainer. Wish he was still performing, and would come back to the U.S. Anyone out there know how to get that hint out to him?? Just a thought.

  • I dare to say that Taco was ahead of his time. Very underrated, IMO.

  • You've got that right, Tonyrave! He was a musical genius, IMHO. I loved watching this video and all the others posted here, and the "Puttin' On The Ritz" video really brought back memories! I know I wish he was still performing. I'd do just about anything to go to a show he was putting on!

  • I love how true that is, even though everything he did was a sythesized version of ragtime retro. He fit in with the ska movement, particularly the skiffle/ska mixture of bands like Madness and Dexie's Midnight Runners.

  • Does anyone know where he's from? Is he still doing anything?

  • He was from Dutch Indonesia.

His second song was DEAD RIGHT, we have played with light. What is happening to humanity? Watch the video on Putting on the Ritz (uncensored). It is an excellent social commentary.

  • Check out Wikipedia. There's a brief bio on him there. And I think the words are "man has dared to play around with *life*". I think you're right, though. Some of his music has been an excellent commentary on society.

  • why!?

  • Because he's marvelous!

  • The taco bell has rung.

  • ohhh lord????????

  • 2 lbs sirloin

    1/4 c vegetable oil

    18 tortillas

    1 onion

    4 fresh jalapenos

    4 limes

    cilantro

    1. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the steak, until browned on the outside and cooked through, but not too firm. Season with salt and pepper. Keep warm.

    2. Heat the oil in the skillet, and fry each tortilla on both sides, until lightly browned and flexible. Keep warm.

    3. Place tortillas on a plate, and top with steak, onion, jalapeno, and cilantro to taste. Squeeze lime juice over. Wrap and eat.

  • Thanx for the recipe that actually came out really good. I added some chipotle tabasco to it and that kicked the flavor up a notch in the right direction.

  • Oh my god! I've always loved Taco's music, and I even liked the Puttin' On the Ritz video. But now I sort of wished I hadn't seen this. Maybe I would have thought it was cool back in the 80s, but now it just looks corny beyond all corniness. Still, I guess I'm glad to have seen it overall. lol

  • But it was not a thing of the 80's he did here. Nobody else did something that reminded of this. It was HIS thing he did.

  • I love his facial expressions, he's got this evil cherub thing going on. His eyes, his teeth...it's like he's channeling Tim Curry (thank you KingDando for mentioning this!). Where IS this stage anyway??? Look at the audience between numbers...it's clearly a WTF moment. "He is singing, ja? But not singing?"

  • Just awesome.

  • If you can sit through this video with a straight face, then I seriously question your sanity.

  • Back in the 80's, I had a huge crush on him, he was the cutest thing, I'm sure he still is.

  • Always liked Taco....but once I saw this video in the 80s I just had to laugh....he looks like "Booger" from Revenge Of the Nerds! Google the photos from the movie and tell me I'm wrong! LOL! Props for posting this, I thought it was lost forever......YouTube is brilliant eh? Cheers! TEKNO
