he is tecnically perfect, probably the clearest sound i've ever heard about this piece, but there's a big lack of passion. How can you play chopin as if it was a cramer etude?!?
@ilpianista1991 pollini said in the interview that he'd like to be loyal to the original transcript that chopin wrote - this way, not the romantic style that you hear nowadays
I truly think it's funny how the mid section is as beautiful as a landscape at the top of a mountain and the other parts sound like a drunken guy trying to walk. Great contrast lol
P.S.: The mid section is like hearing the voice of God. Yeah, I just had to talk about it again =D
I'm asian, and I have short hands. This is almost completely impossible for me to play when I tried learning it. the left hand is just insane, what can I do about this?
I listened to Sokolov many times, also live; sometimes he's wonderful, but more often his performances are just arbitrary and one would simply like to slap him in the face to remind him that the real genius is the composer, not the performer
@Barbapippo The etude is very touchful itself. If you listen to Sokolov performance of it you'll understand why Pollini is machine-like for me. And I absolutely agree with Motuorg.
The central part contains some of the most beautiful harmonies Chopin ever wrote. Pollini really delivers an amazing performance of this miniature gem.
Perfect, beautiful interpretation...

Best version I've ever heard!

He plays the coda an iota too fast for my tastes, but otherwise this is one of the best performances of this I've heard.

i really enjoy this, but i really think it could use some of Kissin's dynamics and rubato, and horowitz' beautiful voicing

Very dexterous but that's about it. Otherwise, bland.

@pproust Your mom is bland. He moves his hand across the surface as if he's stroking the bow of a violin.

Pollini is the best. I actually went to one of his performances. It was amazing.

the first dissonant part sounds like something you'd hear while watching a clown. Or maybe that's just me X-D

@tonyngjichun me too. This was the most beautiful etude of Chopin for me that I cried just because of its pure beauty... wonderful piece. :)
