i still fondly remember seeing jet boats up at long lake in maine as a young teen....loved 'em! saw them racing the seaplanes on several occasions...they would let the plane get well into its' takeoff run, then come blastin past it about 200 yards after plane was airborne...capable of 100 mph easily! us kids would be swimming, and we could tell when these guys were coming up from sebago, as soon as they got into brandy pond...you could clearly hear the unique sound underwater! from 4 miles away
