  • Aaaaahhhhhh. thanks.

  • This is a very nice rendition, but I prefer the way Roberta Flack sings this. Give it a listen you may enjly it also.

  • I've had my own rendition of this song for years and have sung and played it at weddings

  • Unashamedly this is my most favourite version of Suzanne. Beautiful voice.

  • Judy has a very pretty voice...great lyrics...my name is Suzanne as well and told me to watch this video and hear this song today--but only with Judy singing.

  • This is the most perfectly silent song of all time.

  • I used to listen to this album too while babysitting

    in the 70's

  • beautiful song, beautiful voice, beautiful lady. had the privilege of hearing her sing with the Denver symphony in 1980 (?). wonderful memories. thanks for posting!

  • Its rare when beautiful lyrics meets an equally beautiful voice. When the two fuse they create magic.

  • Dave's Song <3

  • I was trawling thru LC clips & came across this one of Judy's - a beautiful voice, I had a couple of albums once ... I must listen again - thankyou :)

  • Judy Collins does a great interpretation of a beautiful classic song by Leonard Cohen. I love it and it endures for anyone who loves great music.

  • Love Judy Collins she wrote me a letter after my brother died prematurely.

  • This song has always been one of my favourites even though I'm too young to remember the original - it was my parent's generation but I still think it's amazing "you know that she's half crazy that's why you want to be there"

  • Never tired of this song. Never. "Amid the garbage and the flowers...leaning out for love and they will lean that way forever."

  • And you think you'll maybe trust her, for she's touched your perfect body with her mind...

  • When Leonard Cohen was touring Australia, he told me that this version of Suzanne was his favorite. I personally love Neil Diamond's version the best .

  • @48emgee That's the amazing thing about Leonard Cohen, when he got "Best Male Vocalist" he took it as a joke! How could you not love him!

  • When I was a student at UT (Austin) in the 70s I would go into the listening lab at the library....my favorite part of the library, and request this song and listen to it over and over. Today, I love it as much as I did many moons ago.

  • one of the greatest songs of the 1960's and a truly existential masterpiece.

  • So beautiful

  • what a voice!!!!

  • I've never understood why she changed the line "You can spend the night beside her" to "You can spend the night forever."

  • my friends would sing this to me when i entered the newspaper office of the Queensborough Community College...bayside queens 1968...i had the privilege to interview Judy Collins years later..after she lost her son to suicide..an amazing being she is....blessings to u Judy; and to Leonard Cohen who wrote this. xoxoSuzanne

  • **goosebumps**

  • Judy and her music have meant SO much to me over the years!! Saw her in Charlottesville last Friday and she was EXCELLENT!! To anyone loves her or her music, I highly recommend seeing her live.

  • Judy Collins was my mentor when I was a young girl. I play guitar like this and this is probably my favorite song ever. God Bless You Judy Collins,

  • I like to read other people's comments on great old songs like this one. Its good to know that somewhere out there are others who like the same things I do even though I never meet one.

  • @40warhawkp WHAT MAKES THE SONG GREAT. IT IS SUNG BY JUDY COLLINS..

  • @40warhawkp I like this idea of communing with people you don't meet, in music, in ideals, in.... It's a trip "back to the garden" to use Joni Mitchell's words.

  • I love this version, it's the first one I fell in love with, and I haven't been able to find it for years.

  • I am smiling today, Suzie and I know you are too!

  • This song reminds me of Suzanne Leefe, a friend of mine who was so like the woman in the song. I miss her so, I always cry when I hear it and have for years.

    I love you Suzie...HJG

  • One of the very few voices that can I consider a major turn on

  • This is the version that I first heard in the Hippy Days of my youth. I had the Album and played it over and over again. Real good when you're high man!

  • @BigBillsdiggs We don't have to be high now to enjoy it but I know where you are coming from because I was a teenager in the late sixites. Many a night I heard this song on an FM "progressive " station like KSJO, San Jose or KMPX or KSAN in San Francisco. Happy TTrails......Orange sunshine, yahoo!

  • Such a pure voice

  • Thank you so much for posting. This was the version I heard when I first fell in love with this song.

  • WHAT A GORGEOUS PURE VOICE JUDY HAS!!!!!
