  • The REAL Billy Goats Gruff

  • I'm shivering just looking at this... nice kill!!

  • I wonder how big horn sheep taste? lol

  • What did this guy score? I scored 163 B&C in Lake County Oregon.

  • Great video! A super archery trophy - especially in that weather! Congrats! Wow! I just came back from Alberta last week after killing a ram with a 1/4 mile shot with my 6.5 mm 284 rifle. It would have been neat to get as close as you did! Thanks for filming it. Kudos to you. I just posted my hunt on youtube also entitled "Rocky Mountain Big Horn Sheep Hunt 2010." Enjoy.

  • got to get up there and try that one day.

  • Nice work! was this by grande cache area?

  • May I ask what WMU this was in?

  • GREAT shot!

  • Nice shoot AFTER getting in an excellent position !!! It is impressive that you got that close in that big country. Nice job.

  • love it when they go DOWN the mountain!

  • holy crap that sheep is HUGE!

  • Amazing video and a great shot! He didn't know what hit him

  • GREAT SHOT! AWSOME!

  • killed with 1 arrow?

  • great shot thought it was going down then it took off crazy stuff there 5*******

  • if you woulda shot it with a gun you coulda walked over to it once ya shot it!!!! btw good shot hehe

  • where in alberta was this? ive been going near timber creek for the past few years and it is a great area to find nice rams. the only downside is that its very rough country to hunt in.

  • this is awesome, I'm pretty new to hunting, have only gone after boar and fowl but would love to do something like this, ball park range how much would it cost? I want to get away from the gentlemanly fowl hunting and into something you have to work for

  • Where do you live? For us Albertans the cost of the license is cheap, but there is a lot of equipment you need. You also need to take signifigant time off work. If you're a non-resident alien than you would be best off using a guide or having a good friend that lives here and that will cost a lot. Also remeber that 80% of sheep hunting is glassing. So be prepared to dump some money into optics.

  • im from alberta to, where do you go to hunt for sheep? i was looking at areas around 438(by hinton)

  • I've yet to pull the trigger on a sheep. I need some real money before I can take a serious shot at taking one. Until then it's general whitetail. I'm thinking of elk in 402 this year though. I heard hinton is pretty busy for sheep. I'm more of a walk in guy. I want to do some willmore shit once I'm done university.

  • i live in hinton and work at crc and i see mosnter rams all day long there and some mosnter elk its hard to hunt them because of the mine site but if u put the time in ull get a good one

  • hi 8174374

haven't heard from you in a while buddy. hope all

    is well.

  • I looked at the regs. I didn't know this before but if you're not a Canadian you can only get a tag through an outfitter. So 25grand and up. Non-residents, but still Canadians, can get one but they have to draw for it. Finally, us Albertans only have to pay $51.31 with no draw.

  • i totally agree with kinley1978. those PETA fags come on youtube and comment on hunting like they understand it. it really pisses me off.

  • That Video Rules!!!

  • great hunt!

  • what a dandy...you rock....

  • You earned that sheep mate,well done,beautiful animal,will give you memories for a lifetime,excellent clip :-)

  • wow i cant understand the textures. the snow makes and illusion of both far away and close. i thought the sheep fell off a cliff.

  • sweet video. congrats. he's gonna be tasty.

  • Was this a full curl zone or a 'trophy' zone?

  • trophy zone

  • good hunt!!!!!!!!!!!! thats the way to do it up front, not from 350 yards away like some trik.

  • no most bows if placed right can do more damage than a rifle and most of the time it goes through the lungs and the heart

  • I doubt it.

90% of angles and distances cause a misplaced aim by arrow, and even if placed right, I still haven't seen a game drop as it gets hit by an arrow, just as you saw with this sheep. He got hit then he went shopping :)

A 270Win or a 7mm Weatherby would have gone through 5 sheeps standing so close and would have dropped this one on the spot.

    Let's just say if I'm a Bighorn sheep or a deer I'd rather get shot by a 270win, 300win or a 7mm Weatherby instead of a "well-placed-arrow" :)

  • ive seen at least 18 shots that dropped big game from arrows right a way

  • Is there 1 on youtube?

  • ya ive seen about three on youtube but i forgot how to get there and it depends on how many pounds ur bow is and if u use special heads like the grizztrick slik trick and rage expandable 2 blades check out the two blades..all the shots u see are badly placed from really far away so they dont drop it right a way but they will go through and leave a 3 inch hole

  • That's exactly where the problem with bow/arrows is, you can not get within an effective, well-placed shot range. For example a Bighorn sheep smells you from half a mile away and this guy got real lucky to get so close for a second. Deer is much easier because they're dumb and domesticated so you can get within 30-40 feet of them. Yes a great shooter can kill a game accurately and instantly with a heavy arrow from 20-30 yards. A rare condition when you think how many just buy a bow and head out.

  • ya true

  • You just dont have the skill to get that close. Thats why you need your 300 win. Mag because jump shooting is your forte. Dont knock the closest thing to traditional hunting.

  • I had 15 years of hunting experience when you were wearing diapers and filling it promptly. I stalked so close to the birds that I could catch them by hand but they didn't see me.

People use a 300win for a quick, humane kill. You can kill a deer with a .22LR rimfire too but he'll suffer and bleed for a while before dying. Hunting like driving is something no one should try to go too traditional doing it. A muzzle-loader is traditional, bow and arrow is pain, not for you for the game.

  • Are you serious? Thats so comical I cant even comment on that. I got sooooo close they didnt even see meeee. Wow.Every now and again I run across ignorance on YouTube. This time lighting struck twice. Good luck Elmer Fudd. P.S. If you dont like these videos dont watch them.

  • H20wise,

Unless you call yourself wise no one else will.

So kiss my Elmer Fudd ass and remember, it's the Duck Season.

I watched the video because it said "Bighorn Mountain sheep hunting". I didn't know what they used to hunt the poor bighorn!

  • Pain or not a bow deserves just as much clout as any rifle. And if done properly can be just as effective or ineffective as any rifle. I say use what you want just practice up and make the kill clean.

  • do seriously. it is called hunting. there are very few animals that will "shoot" something back at you. besides the idea of hunting is to kill something for food. it doesn't matter what it's self defences are.

  • Butt pirate bob why don't you quit being a little whiny beotch and go look up other close minded and ignorant sites like PETA instead of commenting on something you obviously know nothing about.

  • yo dumbass with out hunting there would be too many animals so more would get hint by cars, more would get sick. huting gives us food and helps to herds. think first dumbass

  • he cant use a rifle, rifle season is closed in november in alberta

  • use a rifle man.

  • What did the sheep end up scoring, and what state did you harvest it in?

  • The ram ended up scoring 180 7/8.He was taken in Alberta Canada

  • A long and no doubt painful death...

  • What about cats playing with mice? Have you ever seen a coyote catch a rabbit? have you ever seen a bird dog sniff out a pheasant? You can see the joy in their faces. Is it primal? Yes. Is it wrong? No. Perhaps Jose Ortegay Gassett answered this assertion best: "I don't hunt to kill, I kill in order to have hunted."

  • wow great job!

  • Congrats Man....that's awesome. Watchya gonna do to top that!!

  • Fantastic Man.....congrats. To get it on vid is a total bonus.....Great Job

  • nice shot i bet he was shocked as hell when he came around the rock.....nice vid even with the fuzzies

  • Sorry for the fuzzy nature of the video. I just learned how to do this and will add a clear video soon. Hope you still enjoy it though.

  • awesome! How come the second shot is not on the video?

  • I thought I would not include the second shot due to its graphic nature for other youtube viewers. The first arrow hit just a little low, however it did clip the bottom of both lungs. If you notice on the video, the back leg is hanging after the shot. The arrow went through the first lung, clipped the second lung and then deflected back and through the gut cavity into the back leg. In order to get off the mountain before midnight, we decided to put a second arrow in it.
