Darkfall is great in concept, but poorly implemented. No skill cap=no diversity=crappy economy & cookie cutter characters. The game was fun before magic was "fixed" when melee & archery were viable. I was hoping for anupdated version of shadowbane as far as city building & pvp but its not even close.
darkfall is not about the look its about freedom if you are so stuck on the animation then i could draw you a super high quality PACKMAN game....its so detailed you can see his nose hairs and his nose...but its damn boring and so is WOW (my english is not so good...)

I think that the artistry for most of those games like Wow are terrible. This one is the most realistic looking and feeling one that I have played. Really fun and I definitely recommend it!
Yeah, I love AoC and like their graphics/artistry more than most ever other game I played but they had instances, hitting tab would take you to the next mob, as you fought numbers would float above the mob and your enemies were surrounded by hug red circles. You didnt aim, you hit tab and auto-attack. I liked the combos and fatalities a lot but the first thing when I logged onto AoC was try and run over a tiny hill but had to run all the way around. Don't like being forced down a path . ..
ok to anyone discourged about that lol melee combat isnt like that people actually try to dodge your hits its not tab click cast lol that was epic fail this doesnt show the intensity of the game in real pvp.
yeah I was wondering what was gonna happen when a handful of people ran up to a bigass stone wall, arrows and fireballs harassing them all the way..... Luckily the defenders were kind enough to jump down to slaughter them so they could at least feel their deaths had some meaning... (as opposed to just standing at the foot of the wall being shot at until they died)
one good thing is that the attacks seems to be open ones that involve running straight up and smashing your opponents face, or anyone that's near, rather than lock-on individual attacks like wow.
Those who haven't played Darkfall, shouldn't be talking crap about it. Those who do play and whine are usually the WoW carebears who were too used to button-pushing and suped-up gear to win a fight with no skill involved. AoC had better graphics, but the end game didn't live up to the hype - what good is that? Darkfall's one of the few games that truly took all the crap of past mmo's and made it right. My second fave is DAoC.

The Animation of the characters are very crude, even older games like DAoC or EQ2 had better animations. Compare the animations to those of characters in AoC. Those are smooth and realistic, but in Darkfall it is like the game is 10 years old. -.-
Once again, this game isn't for carebears who want the pretties animations and armor. They wanted to have the most massive clan battles that they could get, which means toning down the graphics/animation some.
This is probably the only MMORPG in the past 7 years to get it right. No levels, no treadmills, no safe zones, etc...
once again, game looks stupid as fuck and guild wars did clan battles way fucking better than this. then again, guild wars is a competitive game and this is an rp furry fest.
in all the real gameplay videos i've seen everyone wears crappy armor and does hit and run attacks with magic missiles and crossbows from a distance. do any clashes ever actually work out like this where both sides crash into each other? melee should be MUCH more damaging than ranged to force bravery.

I assure you you will never see sieges or raids or whatever playing melee like this video shows everybody have macroed their asses of for max magic AOE spells and thats how they play sieges etc.

ok after watching all 6 videos I have this to say. As big as they said Agon was going to be. how often does those epic encounters ever happen? What I would like to know is how does the map system work. with cities and towns being brought up and torn down and such. how does the game keep track of all that and how does it get marked on the map if at all? Everything to me looks solid.
Cities are pre-positioned. You can't just build a city everyone. As for how often those epic encounters happen? Well at the moment, weekly. Sometimes multiple times in a week. Geesh what am I saying! Sometimes there can be 2 battles of this size going on at opposite ends up the map.
They can do what they do with WoW, the game runs mostly on the PC and not on the internet (this ofc, invites exploits like tweaking your own game).
WoW doesn't lag, not even a little bit if you have a good enough PC. Btw WoW runs fantastic compared to other games with the same graph. They can use the same technique, I bet it'll work.
It's not just about: "Max graphics! Gief"! There is also a question about how the graphics are done! Graphics which require the same can look completely different.
Fuck you! I fucking hate that!... People don't know how good Mount and Blade is... It's a prime example of what I said. The full game takes 519MB. Mount and Blade has exellent ragdoll effects, just look at when you shoot a guy of a horse, or bash someone of a wall! M&B also has the best looking metal effects I have seen. It is THE best looking game, compared to the space it takes, in the world. It has some bad qualities, like faces and bodies.
M&B and this game do not look alike... The only logical reason, in my opinion, in mentioning M&B in that sentence was to say: "Hey, I tried a game that has bad graphics, and it was fun, so I'll be trying this one too."
The mere "visual" of M&B was rather low, with some exeptions, like the rising sun, and the astonishing metal armor effects. But graphics also include physics, and the ragdoll effect was very impressive.
M&B obviously had a low budget, hence the lack of cutscenes, space without any mods to a maximum of 519MB and extreme amount of text. If properly funded, Taleworlds (creators of M&B) could very well compete against the giants.

If you have played M&B you know how hard it would be to do such a thing. The whole game is based on that you do something, whenever tha hell you want to do it.
But it totally would be awesome if there would be multiplayer, and not too much changed. Ofc, there is coming a multiplayer expansion, but that's only for the battles.

I reckon they have made profit of the game, since they can't have spent much on it, and it is this popular. They would have to reconstruct much of the game if it were to be done as you say, so I wouldn't expect it, but it would be insane!
Btw, since you can download almost any mod, you could expect someone atempting this =). M&B can be the best game ever, since it is so modifiable!

MMORPGs are developed for different audiences and could be valued on their own. Why does AoC have to be called a failure in relation to WoW. Why do people already state that darkfall is a fail opposed to another game. Its simple Thinking is hard judging is not so there you go.
Gameplay is king in games, but that does not mean that a game can't look good. Remember this genre of games is relatively young and a very expensive exercise not to mention complex.

This was the beta video, but its now released, though only available during limited slots to ensure no lag, thusfar not seen any real lag ingame, graphically coming from something like age of conan, it is obviously inferior,truthly character armour wep texturesetc are far superior to wow graphics and pretty darn good in comparison with most mmo's, howeverground texturesshow theirage a product of the darkfall's extended dev time, but overall its a good game at release, and relativly bug free to:)

This games combat is actually extremly dynamic. You have to take into account the environment, weather, time and posistioning of your men. Also the use of magic, ranged weaponry, shield advancing and cavalry make this game a better alternative to the more mature audiences that are tired of wow.
As the game matures i'm sure the graphics will improve. As will bugs and glitches.
I heard of this game, wanted to buy it, but after these trailers, I won't..... I still want a life lol......this game is too awsome for it's own good. 10 stars for the producers.

Seiging isn't like they show it. It's not that organised.
This isn't a player made vid. It's done by the company that made the game, the same one that's been lying and misleading consumers for several years now. It's heavily editted to make it look better then it is.

Sure it looks pretty but fights are never like this. Its usually a big zerg lag fest with nothing but mana missle spams and aoe spells from people who maxed out their casting class.

I assure you you will never see sieges or raids or whatever playing melee like this video shows everybody have macroed their asses of for max magic AOE spells and thats how they play sieges etc.

People are saying THESE graphics are bad? clearly they havent shopped around much, or are total gfx whores...gameplay is what im worried about, and after following darkfall for a while, it looks like i wont be disappointed =)
And honestly, the graphics looks pretty nice to me! Check out the enviroment a bit, and give them time to fix the less than perfect char models xD

The reason that Darkfall was made was to make Mortal Online better. Just like Batman and Robin, Robin is just there to look gay with his breifs just to make batman more of a hero. .

ok after watching all 6 videos I have this to say. As big as they said Agon was going to be. how often does those epic encounters ever happen? What I would like to know is how does the map system work. with cities and towns being brought up and torn down and such. how does the game keep track of all that and how does it get marked on the map if at all? Everything to me looks solid.

Cities are pre-positioned. You can't just build a city everyone. As for how often those epic encounters happen? Well at the moment, weekly. Sometimes multiple times in a week. Geesh what am I saying! Sometimes there can be 2 battles of this size going on at opposite ends up the map.

They can do what they do with WoW, the game runs mostly on the PC and not on the internet (this ofc, invites exploits like tweaking your own game).
WoW doesn't lag, not even a little bit if you have a good enough PC. Btw WoW runs fantastic compared to other games with the same graph. They can use the same technique, I bet it'll work.
It's not just about: "Max graphics! Gief"! There is also a question about how the graphics are done! Graphics which require the same can look completely different.

Fuck you! I fucking hate that!... People don't know how good Mount and Blade is... It's a prime example of what I said. The full game takes 519MB. Mount and Blade has exellent ragdoll effects, just look at when you shoot a guy of a horse, or bash someone of a wall! M&B also has the best looking metal effects I have seen. It is THE best looking game, compared to the space it takes, in the world. It has some bad qualities, like faces and bodies.
Don't use it as an example of a bad looking game!

The mere "visual" of M&B was rather low, with some exeptions, like the rising sun, and the astonishing metal armor effects. But graphics also include physics, and the ragdoll effect was very impressive.
M&B obviously had a low budget, hence the lack of cutscenes, space without any mods to a maximum of 519MB and extreme amount of text. If properly funded, Taleworlds (creators of M&B) could very well compete against the giants.

If you have played M&B you know how hard it would be to do such a thing. The whole game is based on that you do something, whenever tha hell you want to do it.
But it totally would be awesome if there would be multiplayer, and not too much changed. Ofc, there is coming a multiplayer expansion, but that's only for the battles.

I reckon they have made profit of the game, since they can't have spent much on it, and it is this popular. They would have to reconstruct much of the game if it were to be done as you say, so I wouldn't expect it, but it would be insane!
Btw, since you can download almost any mod, you could expect someone atempting this =). M&B can be the best game ever, since it is so modifiable!

MMORPGs are developed for different audiences and could be valued on their own. Why does AoC have to be called a failure in relation to WoW. Why do people already state that darkfall is a fail opposed to another game. Its simple Thinking is hard judging is not so there you go.
Gameplay is king in games, but that does not mean that a game can't look good. Remember this genre of games is relatively young and a very expensive exercise not to mention complex.

This was the beta video, but its now released, though only available during limited slots to ensure no lag, thusfar not seen any real lag ingame, graphically coming from something like age of conan, it is obviously inferior,truthly character armour wep texturesetc are far superior to wow graphics and pretty darn good in comparison with most mmo's, howeverground texturesshow theirage a product of the darkfall's extended dev time, but overall its a good game at release, and relativly bug free to:)

You're joking right? No way. The combat looks very minimal and a little bit like the style of some medieval HL2 mods, run around in circles like a lunatic and spam mouse 1. Unless you're a caster, then you're just spamming an extra one. Maybe. Sorry, but even if I try hard I can't see how this is better than WoW in more than a few sparse ways.

This game looks bad :( Graphics are bad, whats up with those ice Blocks that look like the devs forgot something. Destroy the wall or building it disappears? WTF? and then anyone on it just falls to the floor? LOL
Running looks funny as hell.
Fighting is terrible Hack and Slash. Stand in there toe to toe and see who can beat the other person quicker. LoL. No wait. Im gonna run in, hack then run out and then go in again when my attack is ready. LoL. this game looks total FAIL.

This games combat is actually extremly dynamic. You have to take into account the environment, weather, time and posistioning of your men. Also the use of magic, ranged weaponry, shield advancing and cavalry make this game a better alternative to the more mature audiences that are tired of wow.
As the game matures i'm sure the graphics will improve. As will bugs and glitches.
