My dad would always play this song, and I never quite knew why. During that time in my life I was much younger and we were living in Japan. Now everytime this year (Winter) I always play this song, difference now being that I'm eighteen and no longer ten. Still I remember being at peace when I gazed out upon the gloomy Japanese skies, sitting on the tatemi mats watching it rain. Now, looking back, I think of my dad and how much I look up to the man. Makes me cry every time...

On Christmas eve the Germans and the English declared a temporary truce, they came out of their trenches and met each other in the middle. They exchanged gifts, chocolates, food, shook hands, sang songs and Christmas carols, told stories and showed each other pictures of their families, wives and children.

The next day they went back to their trenches and the killing began again.
