  • Been a quiet fan of yours for quite awhile-love your videos and your talent ^*^

  • @GusHandsum i appreciate your support as always. I'm expanding my love for music... Bamboo flute making is my new thing... hope you like my new videos of them...

  • Excellent. i,ll make a kite and implement a sounding instrument base on your invention.thanks and state tune.

  • Very creative, I am going to make one of these! Thanks.

  • @BlackstarNinja777 thanks for checking out my videos. I understand you play the shakuhachi.. I'm just beginning to make my own...I've never played an actual shakuhachi before but I do know how to make them based on internet material and my own music background. I'm currently making another shakuhachi; i hope it goes smoothly cuz nothing sucks more than cracking the bamboo on the drilling of the last hole after spending 4 hours trying to perfect it. It happened last night and I was so bummed out.

  • @tkviper Yes, I make and play homemade shakuhachi. I am not an experienced player but I think I do ok. They are very easy to make....drilling the holes is indeed the hard part. My advice is to get bamboo that is not too green. The older the better. One CAN make shakuhachi using fresh bamboo but you have to be VERY careful. I have 3 that are fresh and green and play great hehehe. What works for me is using a very high power drill that is fast so the hole is made quickly.

  • @tkviper You can also create holes by burning them using very hot iron/steel rods. That way, the bamboo will not crack. *bow*

  • @BlackstarNinja777 I prefer drilling and filing for tuning purposes.. maybe when I've master the art, I'll try burning the holes with hot iron rods. My new shakuhachi is almost done. It's actually a hybrid flute; tuned like a shakuhachi E but the blow hole is a 30° angle cut paired with a partially open end of the Chinese Xiao flute's, which makes it easier to blow into esp. for those with thin lips who have trouble covering the full open end of a real shakuhachi. I'll demo it when I'm done...

  • @tkviper Awesome, can't wait to hear it.

  • @BlackstarNinja777 I play all kinds of instruments; a lot of chinese bamboo flutes plus the guitar (my main instrument). Within one week, I've collected all the tools needed to make bamboo flutes. Today, I completed the tool set with a mini workshop table. I bought a high power drill a few days ago. Yesterday I got "the magic saw", great for cutting bamboo quickly and precisely. I will do a video on my setup in a few days... Dried bamboo sound much better so that's what I use.

  • @tkviper Heheh sounds like you are all set. Keep up the good work!

  • @BlackstarNinja777 yup... should have a new video demo'ing my setup up in a few hours.. uploading a 1.5 GB HD video right now... The last flute in the video is the one I'm working on and I think it's gonna be the best one I've made so far in terms of playability, sound, and craft quality.

  • @tkviper Excellent. Will check back to hear the new material.

  • amazing!!

  • @waliuxD thanx.. i'll be uploading more videos to demo it.. It sounds a lot like the okinawan 3-string lute a.k.a SanShin = 3 strings. I'm quickly learning how to jam the scales.. It's a lot of fun.
