Also the voucher program enables poorer parents to choose where they send their kids to school. The teachers unions don't like this because it brings competition to their work place. Increased productivity in teachers is beneficial to the students. The DC program does work but Obama can't upset the unions who are at the base of the Democratic party.

I have to say I agreed with John McCain on this one. At the moment we have a saturation of university graduates who have shit degrees. Businesses call this degree inflation, whereby they require applicants with masters/majors to prove their excellence as a standard ba,bsc isn't enough.
