The bell ring happens if the rubber ring on the venturi is missing. There is a large rubber band on the back of the venturi to stop the viberation that causes this.
Yes they are recoilless, They fire a 84 mm rocket about a foot long, If they where not the recoil would be like trying to shoulder fire an artillery piece.
It is not recoil you saw, it's the fact that after one millisecond the weapon is several kilo lighter and thus it's the soldier who pushed the weapon up a bit, not recoil.
This is used for hard targets eg bunker busting since canadian forces now use other options for anti tank role. It's a nice punch and would love to blow something up with it. Look up the round it fires and you will see why.
Oh, I've fired this many times! And yes, it's excellent for clearing your sinuses.
But the Carl Gustav isn't a rocket launcher and doesn't fire a rocket but grenades (HEAT, HE, smoke etc).

Royal Marines put a hole in the side of an Argentine warship with one of those! That's how old these things are.

Sounds like a summer concentration at Petawawa that was interrupted to fight a fire - oh, we were thrilled.
