How come Bruce, Dave Champ and so many other Kosho Ryu people are so overweight? ok. Jon Ludwig is nice and trimmed, but most are so fat. Thomas Mitose, Soke, has also gotten so chubby.

@FishEaster - True many Americans are over weight, I think you're confusing fitness with knowledge & skill. Many see the martial arts as how well one can project a kick, punch, etc... The concept is referred to as "young forest," in having room to move. Arts like Kung~Fu.
Kosho is old forest," you take away your opponents position & room to move against you. Arts like Akido, Ju~Jitsu. You don't have to be in great shape to turn an opponents energy against themselves, just skilled like Bruce.

Chows Kempo has also been referred to as "Chinese Kenpo." Although the art of Kempo (Natural Law) is actually Japanese. It's roots come from China, from Sholin Chuan~Fa.
youcan, I have not studied the chi lin art since the late80's-early 90's. I learned several of their forms and application, but I wanted something more. I have never found any of the seniors who could scrap like Decker could. I attended the chi lin weekend, I have sparred with the chuan-fa and chi lin kempo side and after training with Kenneth Chung and Eddie Chong I was not impressed with the chi lin fighting ability. But that is my personal taste and what works for me.
No, like I said I have not studied chi lin since back in the late 80's-early 90's. Nice looking forms and I still remember them. But I don't practice them anymore. Yes, Decker was good but I believe his students are missing something. Then when I met Kenneth Chung, K-D BAR the door. Ken is considered to have the best hands in the U.S. and I am a believer.
youcan, I will gladly meet you when it is convenient. I can prove what I am saying. juchnik is a clever con-artist. I was deceived for a short while also. The guy tells you what you want to hear and plays on your desires. And rest ashore there is always money involved. juchnik is selling rank that he is not qualified to do.

They did meet a couple times a year in Michigan. juchnik does not know chi lin and never did master it. juchnik was teaching me the tiger form, from which he had a video of Decker preforming. I gave juchnik $50 for a copy of the video and juchnik would lie about sending it to me. I have a copy of the cashed check and a very good witness. I never did receive the video. The tiger form he taught was all wrong.
Hanshi Juchnik knows Chi Lin. He taught me, yes his tiger and crane form is different, He learned it from Dennis Decker later in his life time. Sifu Mike Snyder and Sifu Scott Felson's tiger and crane form are also both different although they were both taught by Dennis Decker. I doubt he deliberately lied to you about the tape.
youcan, You are making assumptions. I am not doing this out of anger. What he did to me and the lies after lies that he told me when I confronted him is water under the bridge. Are you guys telling me that you got your black belts in kosho through the seminar method? If so you are scamming your students. No way can you get proficient without the constant day to day tutelage of a qualified instructor. There are several major and minor movements and correct body alignments. Brewer, Correction if you did 300-400 seminars, one every quarter you would have be between 75 and 100 years old, assuming you started as an infant. A lot older than juchnik.

Brewer, You must be older than 46. Because if you did hundred's of seminars for example less say 400 on the smaller side of hundred's. And you did a seminar every quarter (3 mos) . Less see that is 33 yrs. Besides you can not master an art by the seminar method. You need day to day instruction to prevent bad habits or wrong techniques.

Once he got my money I would show up and would not receive any chi lin but be given exercises or arnis which I did not sign up for. Not in my contract.. I also trained with Rene Latosa no comparison. Latosa is tops by a long shot. Latosa produces top world class fighters. Anyone in the Filipino arts knows that.
It was through Grandmaster Allemany that Hanshi met another top Escrimador, Remy Presas. and became one of his top Arnis students. Hanshi Juchnik traveled extensively with Professor Presas doing seminars all over the country.
Today Hanshi still teaches Arnis and is considered one of the best practitioners around.
I ask you, "how is it that he can get these Masters to teach him?" He used Humility and Respect.
In 1973 Hanshi started training in Arnis with noted Escrimador Angel Cabalos. Hanshi Juchnik himself is now known as a top Escrimador, While studying Arnis with Mr. Caballes, It is here where Hanshi met soon to be close friend Grandmaster Rick Allemany.

sky, If you live in the Sacramento area, I trained off base with Rene Latosa in Escrima and Kenneth Chung in W.C. in your area, you should know them. A couple instructors that I know have retired from teaching Military are Paul Vunak and the Gracies , which is no secret. The rest may still be classified. sky, They are various instructors that are screened and tested by the military. They come from different backgrounds i.e., BJJ, Muay Thai, Hakko Ryu, Wing Chun, Escrima and internal arts. If it is declassified you can find them by doing a search if your interested. It is not a new concept. The service has been doing it since back in the 40's with Judo. Service men were the first to introduce M.A. to the U.S.

I agree with you man. Like I posted before, I took Kosho-Ryu Kenpo out of Downers Grove Illinois. Juchnik would show up (paid, of course) & drink before demonstrating in slow motion some movement. Based on folks throwing straight punches & standing there afterward. I have been an student, an instructor & a lover of the martial arts for 22 years now. Juchnik is a joke & a greedy disgrace in my eyes. It amazes me how many people do not question things. Put it to the test. TRY SPARRING!

Seng, you say this because you're ignorant of what he's doing. They are not striking at airspace Hanshi is shifting muscle groups, leaning, and using proper alignment to create that illusion. What he's actually doing is getting out of the way but his motion is so small it's hard to see what he's doing. Also the reason why it appears that people are punching slow is because Hanshi roots his opponent and manipulates them making it VERY difficult for the opponent to throw a strike.

Seng, anybody who's ever thrown a punch at Hanshi Juchnik knows it's a complete exercise in futility. It is a struggle to try and maintain your balance as he is constantly offsetting your weight and manipulating your body. @FishEaster - True many Americans are over weight, I think you're confusing fitness with knowledge & skill. Many see the martial arts as how well one can project a kick, punch, etc... The concept is referred to as "young forest," in having room to move. Arts like Kung~Fu.
Kosho is old forest," you take away your opponents position & room to move against you. Arts like Akido, Ju~Jitsu. You don't have to be in great shape to turn an opponents energy against themselves, just skilled like Bruce.

Chows Kempo has also been referred to as "Chinese Kenpo." Although the art of Kempo (Natural Law) is actually Japanese. It's roots come from China, from Sholin Chuan~Fa.

youcan, I have not studied the chi lin art since the late80's-early 90's. I learned several of their forms and application, but I wanted something more. I have never found any of the seniors who could scrap like Decker could. I attended the chi lin weekend, I have sparred with the chuan-fa and chi lin kempo side and after training with Kenneth Chung and Eddie Chong I was not impressed with the chi lin fighting ability. But that is my personal taste and what works for me.

No, like I said I have not studied chi lin since back in the late 80's-early 90's. Nice looking forms and I still remember them. But I don't practice them anymore. Yes, Decker was good but I believe his students are missing something. Then when I met Kenneth Chung, K-D BAR the door. Ken is considered to have the best hands in the U.S. and I am a believer.

youcan, I am not doubting juchnik and Decker's friendship. They did meet a couple times a year in Michigan. juchnik does not know chi lin and never did master it. juchnik was teaching me the tiger form, from which he had a video of Decker preforming. I gave juchnik $50 for a copy of the video and juchnik would lie about sending it to me. I have a copy of the cashed check and a very good witness. I never did receive the video. The tiger form he taught was all wrong.

Hanshi Juchnik knows Chi Lin. He taught me, yes his tiger and crane form is different, He learned it from Dennis Decker later in his life time. Sifu Mike Snyder and Sifu Scott Felson's tiger and crane form are also both different although they were both taught by Dennis Decker. I doubt he deliberately lied to you about the tape.

Sencamp - you may have had a bad business deal with Bruce 30 years ago. (1/2 your fault) Bruce Juchnik got info from Mistose, Kosho is alive, and well today. The reason Mistose is talked about so much today is because of Bruce Juchnik keep it out there. Long before the son step up or Terry lee, or Tracys. I have been around some of the greatest names in the business, and somebody is always putting someone down now matter where you go. (Did not like their seminar, or the class) What ever!

Are you guys telling me that you got your black belts in kosho through the seminar method? If so you are scamming your students. No way can you get proficient without the constant day to day tutelage of a qualified instructor. There are several major and minor movements and correct body alignments. yes I am older that 46yrs old. You have no Idea of how much time I have put into my training! My training started at 3 1/2yrs old. so I guess you are right, I did start very early! Now you're questioning my training? I have 40yrs in the martial arts, but that wasn't what I started in first! And how do you know how long it takes to become proficient? I trained 6 days a week, and went to seminars 3 to 4 times a month! I've never known Hanchi to have only 1 seminar every 3mts.

Brewer, You must be older than 46. Because if you did hundred's of seminars for example less say 400 on the smaller side of hundred's. And you did a seminar every quarter (3 mos) . Less see that is 33 yrs. Besides you can not master an art by the seminar method. You need day to day instruction to prevent bad habits or wrong techniques.

Yes we have put a lot of time, money, and sweat into training and teaching. There has been a great deal of personal satisfaction, fulfillment, and personal growth involved. I want to hundreds of seminars Taught by Hanchi Juchnik and they were all very informative. I always felt like I got the better end of the deal. You never studied long enough to learn or appreciate the true essence of Kosho.

If someone spends 40 yrs. in the 1st grade and another spends 16 yrs. in education and gets a college degree, which is worth more? It was through Grandmaster Allemany that Hanshi met another top Escrimador, Remy Presas. and became one of his top Arnis students. Hanshi Juchnik traveled extensively with Professor Presas doing seminars all over the country.
Today Hanshi still teaches Arnis and is considered one of the best practitioners around.
I ask you, "how is it that he can get these Masters to teach him?" He used Humility and Respect.
Money doesn't replace them.

sky, If you live in the Sacramento area, I trained off base with Rene Latosa in Escrima and Kenneth Chung in W.C. in your area, you should know them. A couple instructors that I know have retired from teaching Military are Paul Vunak and the Gracies , which is no secret. The rest may still be classified. And yes juchnik is a fake,thief and con-artist.

sky, They are various instructors that are screened and tested by the military. They come from different backgrounds i.e., BJJ, Muay Thai, Hakko Ryu, Wing Chun, Escrima and internal arts. If it is declassified you can find them by doing a search if your interested. It is not a new concept. The service has been doing it since back in the 40's with Judo. Service men were the first to introduce M.A. to the U.S.

I agree with you man. Like I posted before, I took Kosho-Ryu Kenpo out of Downers Grove Illinois. Juchnik would show up (paid, of course) & drink before demonstrating in slow motion some movement. Based on folks throwing straight punches & standing there afterward. I have been an student, an instructor & a lover of the martial arts for 22 years now. Juchnik is a joke & a greedy disgrace in my eyes. It amazes me how many people do not question things. Put it to the test. TRY SPARRING!

Seng, you say this because you're ignorant of what he's doing. They are not striking at airspace Hanshi is shifting muscle groups, leaning, and using proper alignment to create that illusion. What he's actually doing is getting out of the way but his motion is so small it's hard to see what he's doing. Also the reason why it appears that people are punching slow is because Hanshi roots his opponent and manipulates them making it VERY difficult for the opponent to throw a strike.

Seng, anybody who's ever thrown a punch at Hanshi Juchnik knows it's a complete exercise in futility. It is a struggle to try and maintain your balance as he is constantly offsetting your weight and manipulating your body. Hanshi is so subtle in everything he does half the time it's very difficult to figure out what he's doing especially if you're not familiar with the concepts and principles that he teaches. All I can say is, try and throw a punch at the guy and you'll see...

I trained many years with Hanshi Bruce Juchnik, I started with him when his title was Shihan Juchnik, back in the 80's and thru the 90's. I received my Black belt and was later ranked to Shihan, and then to Bucho in the healing arts of Kosho, by Hanchi Juchnik. I want all of you to know that Hanchi Jucknik is as real and true to the truth of martial arts than anyone I've ever known or studied under in my 40yrs experience

I studied under Hanshi Bruce Juchnik in the early 90's. I now own and carry a Glock 21, ( .45 ACP ). I Should have bought the Glock sooner and saved many hours of sweat and money.
