  • He has la voce, no question. He requires more passion & intensity, however!

  • Vendimi3, you are ridiculous... Domingo with his "sentiment" could be a great actor... but opera first of all is not about acting, but about voice and singing. Caruso was quite a bad actor, but the best ever opera singer. MDM is the second best ever. So the question is: who is crazy?

  • @LorandPercsi No question: DelMonaco was far, far, FAR greater than that pretender squeaking mouse, Domingo. Domingo could not shine DelM's shoes!!!

  • @DonPaolissimo It's so easy to sit there typing criticism. Just make sure when you do it that it doesn't make you look as feeble as you seem to want your victims to look. Domingo is no squeaking pretender but quite definitely one of the 20th century's greatest singers. Hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of intelligent and discerning music lovers both professional and amateur will attest to this. Please reserve such expressions as "squeaking pretender" for the likes of Boccelli and yourself.

  • @DonPaolissimo well if you refer this comment to the difference of the voice... yes DELMONACO'S voice was the type of voice for OTELLO a dramatic tenor but, he was not an actor OR ARTISTA AND THAT'S THE BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN the 2 of them DOMINGO is a true artist that's why he singS EVERYTHING WITH SUCCES AT THE THEATERS OF THE WORLD; Ther is one downside on DOMINGO His recordings are sometimes boring beacuse he measures too much on them but on stage a is a whole different ball.

  • Es Un Gran Cantante, Tiene Una Voz Mas Que Interesante, Puede Llegar Hacer Un Gran Artista, Que Ya Lo Es, Pero Puede Mejorar Puliendo Ciertos Aspectos. Con Todo Este Bagaje De Cosas, Corrigien- do Ciertas Otras Cosas, Ya Se Ve Que Es Un Gran Cantante y Haci, LLegar, Ha Ser El Gran Artista Total, Tanto En Voz, Como, Artisticamente, Que, Para Mi, Lo Es, Pero, Todavia Puede Cerlo Mas y Superior. Es- ta En El Camino, De Cerlo, Debe Seguir Por Este Auguroso Cendero. ¡¡¡BRAVO!!!
  • @danibal54 jajajajajajajajajajajaajajajaja

  • Domingo? MDM? I think Mr Antonenko , by him self, is a good tenor, good singer, good technique and is not a bad actor. WHy to compare? Are we hurting your icons just saying that other guy is quite good too? Come on!

  • marcomeatball said: "I mean he's no Del Monaco or Domingo, but who is anyway?"

I don't think Domingo is the one, who's Otello is to be compared to... Dozens of singers are better in this role than Domingo (even nowodays!). MDM is the best Otello ever! Concerning Antonenko: he is not bad, but really not a del Monaco!

  • Del Monaco better than Domingo in Otello? You must be crazy. Del Monaco was a shouter totally unable to give sentiment to his interpratation.

  • Very very nice voice but just a bit "paint-by-numbers" for my tastes. By that I mean he does everthing technically and musically correct. Maybe a tad TOO correct. There's no pushing of the envelope anywhere in his acting or singing to make this a truly compelling portrayal. Some times you just gotta get out there and take a chance. This was just a bit too "safe" for me.

  • He just sang the Prince in the Opera

"Rusalka" at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City and one critic

wrote he had a remarkable outing in

his Met debut. He said, "His ardent

    lyricism and powerful sound marked

him as a performer of considerable

    promise.

  • I just hate the makeup.

he sounds fine! I mean he's no Del Monaco or Domingo, but who is anyway?

  • Non sa cantare Verdi,la tecnica non e male, Riccardo e un bravo direttore di orchestra,ma solo tecnica.

  • Not like Domingo? Thank the Lord for small favors.

  • MA LUI NON SA CANTARE....

  • Très bon chanteur ,c,est la première fois que je l'entends, voix solide et bon acteur.

    merci pour ce video.

  • bravo the Austrian engineers who improved the sound and his voice

  • I do agree with you. I saw last tuesday 09/12 in rome with him and the voice did not have enough volume for this role. In some of the passages he just sang half voice. I found that Cassio had much better voice that evening . pity. It is again strange choice from Muti....

  • He's still very young. His US debut is spring '09 in Rusalka at MET opposite Renee Fleming!

  • WOW! This guy is phenomenal, why haven't I heard of him yet!!??!? I watched the post of Alvarez singing the Brindisi and was intrigued, I've now watched every video of him on YouTube. Can you please please please post his Esultate????

  • done!

  • Very interesting voice darker nice with good technic.Bravo tenore!!!

  • Well, we won't be seeing him at the LA Opera since he sings this better than Domingo.
