I think this is one of the saddest songs I have ever heard. Watch the DVD called Nowhere boy. Based on John Lennon's life. Then you will understand this song more. Its such a shame that Julian had to go through the same thing to a degree. It may have been different outside the media, I don"t know. It just made me think about how the role of mothering is soooo important. His mother's influence remained with John Lennon for all his life.

I was married on the 8th of december 1984 just 4 years after John Lennon had been murdered I had thought about him on my day of my wedding. i think alot of people who were there did the same thing because we were talking about him on and off some of songs played at my wedding were of his including this one. Well put. I often wish that music wasn't so universally popular (thus profitable) and was more like poetry, where those who didn't care for it stayed away from the scene.

The way I see it is that many people love music but more are merely stimulated by sound. This is why we have to endure said autotune crap in shops, on television/radio, and blaring from cars. And, of course, the more you love music the more you're able to hate the commercial nonsense that will always thrive.

I always assumed he had a close relationship with his mother considering the impact his loss had on his life. It's heartbreaking that such an event could wound him so badly for so long.
