  • That thing rotated PDQ

  • ......

  • That's kinda cool... Took me 3 or 4 views to see exactly what was going on.

  • During WWII all the navy had was Single engine props

  • Ah yes, the old "but its a single engine" crowd......usualy composed of mostly 12-year old microsoft fighter pilots. For those who missed it during those years, the US Navy operated several single-engined fighter aircraft from its carriers over the years. Engine technology and reliability certainly has not stood still since then.

  • wow a single engine ac, what happens when that single engine fails over open water hundreds of miles from no where.

  • Comment removed

  • @blt40 You nod to yourself, look down and pull the eject handle.

  • @blt40 Thats a good point, the Navy and Marines were also concerned with this so they demanded that the engine be built to extreme tolerances and durability to avoid this. The engine was required to run for many hours without failure to prove its safety. The 777 went through the same problem because it only had 2 engines but Europe wanted a plane so big to have 4 so the Trent engine proved it could last many hours without fail

  • @cobrala how about when it sucks down a few birds with that one engine.

  • @blt40 Every Jet engines are designed to "accept" a certain amount and certain size bird without a "catastrophic" failure. They are bird rated like windscreens. The military probably has very strict requirements but jet engines CAN ingest birds and continue to run. Now if you ingest multiple large birds or a couple turkey sized Canada Geese then you will have a problem like Sully did and he had 2 engines.

  • politics aside, she's a beauty

  • Very nice plane... but what future does it have?

  • Good to know the UN and Nato have access to weapons systems like this on our nickel. I'd be so much more excited if this was for defense of our country, not MILITARISM.

  • US don't do anything properly nowadays...

  • @ghune so you want a person to pay 70% of their income to the government. How exactly does that help you or me? By paying off the debt? If only that was where the money would go, but it wouldn't.

  • @ghune Did you forget to watch this video?

  • aside from the political commentary, I found this video to be as advertised...a jet being propelled by a catapult.

  • I find it sad that the Air Force and Navy get hideously expensive weapons programs that will likely never be used for their intended purpose, but the Army and Marines haven't received a complete small arms update in decades.

  • @DrLeroyGreen What the US needs to do is raise taxes. It's so obvious but no one wants to touch it. 35% is just far too low for the top tax bracket and there are not enough tax brackets. I think 35% is a fair tax rate if you're making $300,000 a year, it's ridiculous if you're making $3 million or $30,000,000. There should be tax brackets up to 80-90%. If you did this, you'd likely be able to cut the taxes that regular people are paying and fund a lot of programs. No one wants to touch it.

  • @Nater245689 Not smart at all. 35% is the fed rate. What about the money that is being paid to state on income and real estate? Those taxes added together bring the total tax rate to 42-46% of a top bracket. What is wrong is that all those morons in office don't know how to spend money. The taxes are too high and if you want them to go higher, well that's good for them, not you.

  • @glorymanheretosleep Sorry, but no. A 15-20% tax increase at the top wouldn't kill anyone.

  • @Nater245689 But the reality is that taxes are going to have to go up on every single income bracket and there will also have to be massive spending cuts. Either on it's own will not work, it is delusional to think otherwise. I'd go with an 8% tax rate increase for those making less than $250,000 and a 16% on those making more. Cap medicare/medicaid spending, raise the Social Security eligibility age, and cap discretionary spending increase to GDP growth (if any).

  • ah, the good ole' military budget.

  • The F35 sure looks like a fat hog.

  • sexiest looking plane evar

  • @nandansho what complete ignorance. I am one of the ORIGINAL Hartford Tea Party founders, adn not one bank or insurance company ever hired me or paid a salary or gave us money. You drank the koolaid my friend, time to vomit out Obama!

  • So THATS why I can't choose the F-35 for Aircraft carrior launch in ACE Combat.

    ACE COMBAT RULEZ!

  • gigantic waste of money for something thats barely off the drawing board

  • well this shut n be so impresive i bet its the same kind of launch sistem in the ocean carriers . unless its something dif? thumbs up anyway

  • Wow look at our tax dollars. Look at how high the fly. And how fast they go. Wow i bet they can blow up a lot of shit too.

  • @vroom2000 You idiots....You must believe that the need for WINNING a war is over. Peace on earth right? Muslims will simply conform to integration into all societies as all other faiths have? I truly and sincerely HOPE that your families are the lambs so that those of us who understand can witness this unfold and not lose a single family member cause your aloof families provoded the sl

  • CUT THE DEFENSE BUDGET BY 500BILLION!

  • Если не напиздили, то там мего шлем. Его одеваешь и весь самолет становится прозрачным.

  • @vroom2000 all yo can do is laugh at defense contracts when social spending on illegal alien incarceration is higher than weapons programs? Illegal Alien healthcare is higher than weapons programs? and you laugh at weapons programs? As for the tea party, at least SOMEONE knows to stop spending when they're broke, or didn't you realize that is what Pelosi did since 2006?

  • I didn't really think that much of the F-35 until now.

Looks awsome in that navy-stealth camo

  • Can't print money for peaceful space program, but the international central banks have plenty of money to "loan" for military shit.

  • good maybe now they wont burn holes in air craft carrier landing strips.

  • What no clearing turn?

  • Boromir would have been proud :p

  • An expensive turkey...

  • @vroom2000 You're right. We should slash defense spending and give it to illegal aliens and welfare cheats and pay for the world's healthcare and Obama's vacations each 45 days...

  • At a time when Bankruptcy seems imminent programs such as this one are not wise...

  • Now if we could only keep so many foreign students (cough, Chinese, cough, cough) out of our colleges we wouldn't have to worry about keeping a technological edge.

  • @woodycoat Have you noticed that those foreign students are the people who conduct the research to keep that technological edge? Check any graduate program in engineering and you will see that the fraction of American students is very low. Foreign students are hired because there are not enough Americans interested on doing that research.

  • @rudycepedagomez wrong wrong wrong assessment. Foreigners are not allowed to work on US DOD projects. So the ones that get education here go back to their countries and narrow the gap between their countries and the US. And the reason there are so few American students is because the smart one realize there's more money to be made in business, sales, and law because engineers get screwed over by company execs.

  • @woodycoat I can only tell one thing: I am not an American citizen (I am not Chinese either) and I am working on an ARO sponsored project for my PhD.

  • Get some!

  • What budget deficit??? lol

  • @dmora97tt

Something that occurs when you actually have a budget and you overspend. 2 key points. Having a budget and overspending. I'd LOL back at you if any of this was funny.

  • that was great keep it going guys

  • well how about the carrier landing test?

  • Impressive! Video speaks volumes. Yet, the naysayers still wail away......

  • Anticipated (target AOA) was 14 degrees. It came out at 24. Whoo-hoo!

  • @SchwartzeBaron Can you explain what you mean by target AOA?

  • @coldforgedcowboy angle of attack... the angle between the chord of the wing and the velocity vector of incoming air.

  • @ffrgtm.... Right, I knew that much but Schwartze Baron said it was 24 degrees instead of 14 degrees as expected. So I was wondering if he was refering to the maximum AoA for this take off so the pilot wouldn't over speed the gear doors and the landing gear on the F35.

  • @coldforgedcowboy "Anticipated" AOA (Angle of Attack) was 14 degrees. It hit 24 degrees with ease! Way better than expected.

  • Great job. Hats off to the lowest bidder. What's the price tag now?

  • Fail light plane )) can't compete with PAK FA with the same price

  • @SERSHANT WHAT? Apples and oranges. A 737 costs less and carries more payload further! Ha! Take that! WTF are you talking about?

  • @PeueguBucT - Uneducated dross.

  • @PeueguBucT Ahhhh, here come the trolls. Can you state your source that says this is a $4.5 billion aircraft?

  • @Frosttty IT doesn't cost that much per-jet. Each one isn't more than $50 mil. The flying wing only costs $2.5 billion. This thing's way cheaper than a B-2. It might have cost $4.5Billion to get it off the drawing board, but not per-jet.

  • @ariuszarim I was responding to someone who said it was garbage with a price of $4.5 billion.

  • @Frosttty well it would be logical guessing for total development costs (including paying for employees). but considering this is just the aircraft, it's not logical.

  • Wonder how long before it does that from a carrier

  • @nzaircraftfan Within a few years from now.

  • @nzaircraftfan Ship trials in 2013.

  • @generik1 I bet you love Sukois,...FGT!

  • No visible steam coming out of the launching system - is that an EMALS launcher?

  • @homeworld1031tx Description clearly states "aircraft launched by a steam catapult".

  • That was BEAUTIFUL

  • Fantastic... our new aircraft carriers coming teeth.

  • it works...

  • Go! Navy!!!

  • Cat shots are fun!

  • Beautiful shot!

  • Let me be the FIRST to comment on this video to say what an awesome step this is in Naval Aviation!
