Mike had the very latest cutting edge technology installed in his home studio just outside London, near Heathrow Airport. There probably weren't more than about 5 people in the UK with this sort of technology at the time, which was November 1982 to May 1983. Maybe someone like Peter Gabriel might have had similar equipment.

Forget Moonlight Shadow (a brilliant song, yes), but this is what the album Crisis is all about. Just, utterly, breathtaking. Oldfield embraces the modern technology of the time, the Fairlight CMI sampler and Oberheim OBXa synthesizer, amongst others, and creates a kind of neo-classical music. Simon Phillips on percussion also augments this piece and sends it into the stratosphere.
