Jazz War Pigs? Cool, Alex Skolnick is an expert people. I like how he mentioned Marty Friedamn and Chris Poland. All three are some of my personal favorites.
I love versatile guitarists like this guy.. I don't thik Chris Broderick is quite as skilled as Alex yet but he's another versatile metal/jazz guitarist that I like (I don't like his band JAG Panzer but when he tours with Nevermore it's sweet :D )
actually, that may have been a little unfair. i actually have to admit that i will, when in the right mood, crank some testament. and i actually do like marty friedman. what i meant was that he, surrenderordie, is not opening up his mind to anything other than *imitates headbang and million-mile-a-minute solo*. i like thrsh, but i like other music too. surrenderordie clearly doesn't, whic is extremely ignorant.
surrenderordie, either develop an ear for music, or get the fuck off youtube. alex skolnick is proving that he is more than a useless heavy metal airhead. he can actually play a genre other than thrash. So, how about you get out of your mother's basement, and listen to a type of music that doesn't greatly overuse satanic imagery. OK, pumpkin?
Wtf? I like jazz and metal, but Skolnick was just as awesome, even if he didn't start the jazz band. There's other guitarists who just stayed in thrash and are just as good musicians (Marty Friedman, Jeff Waters, Josh Christian, Ron Jarzombek, etc)..
Looks like the ignorance is pretty equal opportunity with BOTH jazz and metalheads here. I love jazz but I also like thrash/death/N.W.O.B.H.M./crossover/power metal too as well as prog-rock, classic rock, funk and blues. Probably half my collection is jazz, but the fusionistic elements that the Tony Williams Lifetime brought to fruition are taken to a whole new direction here! Love the work Alex. Thanks.
What not one arpeggio? I wonder what Chuck Billy thinks? I can remember watching him open for Slayer it was the most intense guitar I've ever seen. Afterwards I spent an entire summer developing my sweep technique. Now I can gladly say thank you for the inspiration Alex. Say Hi to Mike ;)
just because someone's in one band doesn't mean any band they play in is gonna sound anything like the other(s) you ignorant shitload. I personally am in a jazz, grunge, punk and rockabilly band and not one of them sounds anything like the other. do you see testament anywhere on here? no its not even tagged so STFU you conservative pig. noone has the right to dis any genre and not accept the fact that people think their favorite genre sucks. so go back to your lame ass trash.
