Seeing commerical slaughter is why I like to harvest my animals in the wild (not expecting it) and from local farmers when it's done right. (animal grazing and not expecting it) Something about herding them in, placing in pens and the use of sick animals I don't like. It's not healthy and is cruel to the animal. Stress plays a big part in the final product. Sadly, I guess their is no way around it when you have lots to process for the public.

Animals such as field mice are killed in the harvesting of vegelables and fruits, and thier not even used. At least these animals will be eaten instead of just thrown away. If I stop eating chickens they will just be thrown away and that would be a waste of that chickens life.

The question is: Is the animal able to live after being stunned? if yes then this act will be termed as cruel and unislamic, as Islam teaches kindness to animals and prohibits inflicting pain on animals before slaughter, whether psychological or physical. If the animal cannot live after the blow to its head this will be termed as a dead animal (not slaughtered and not fit for consumption) and not halaal

-Bleeding to death could take upto a few minutes in a chicken which is far far far more painful then an instantaneous shock.
