  • Just love the flute with Alain !

  • Lyrics fail intro....he's stoned lol

  • dave grohl its the best.... he should make the all drum record for this band

  • I know there are a lot of drummers out there but with all due respect to them Dave Grohl is a fucking legend. Period.

  • This version is quite fast!

  • anyone else here how he fucked up in the beginning

  • dave kicks ass

  • almost double tempo, and they nail it.. pretty good!

  • Grohl is a master on the drums.

  • esta version viene en un disco especial trae un DVD con esta y otras dos canciones mas en vivo no se si este el show completo.

  • Happy birthday to Josh Homme. And me.

  • This album was noticeably worse than rated r and era vulgaris but grohl is outstanding and i love homme just the saMR

  • Is there a chance I could find the rest of this show?

  • @friendshipfaction can you find the rest of this show??

  • i love how he changes the part "We get some rules to follow" and "We get these pills to swallow" :)

  • I know that Mr. Grohl is a god to many, but he speeds up a little in the middle, and the tempo shifts a little here and there. No, I am not a drummer, and when I play I rock steady. I'm just an old Ginger Baker fan.

  • love drumming to this song its so good!

  • a world class band with a OUTTA THIS WORLD guest drummer. proper music is an understatement.

  • Tight as a gnats arse!

  • The Troubadour is on Santa Monica Boulevard. I played there twice in the early eighties.

  • dave grohl greatest

  • Dowwnload the audio from this vid at soundnabber doht cohm.

  • O.o we get tsome pills to swallow, that and this these and those. no one knows.

  • He is a fucking drum monster

  • How can this only have 123805 when I alone watched it 120000 times

  • sweet.freaking.post...Dude, even after seeing it with my own eyes I can't figure out how Dave does that fill in the 3rd phrase of the chorus!!! What a badass

  • @akilino20

    16th note triplets, RLRLbass (rest)

    So 12345 (rest on 6).

    Hope that helps!

  • fuck yes, dave grohl.

  • did josh homme really just mess up the lyrics to his own song?

  • @TomARansom Maybe just changing things up? lol

  • I rented a car to Dave In Hawaii in 95 what a cool dude hung out talked with us

it was a Ferrari rental so we Got to meet ALL the rokers by far he was the most down to eart

  • Dave Grohl is a fucking GOD

  • Dave Grohl is a very good drummer. He is a very good guitar player. He is a tremendous rock singer. He is one of the best song writers of his generation.

Dave Grohl is a GREAT musician.

And one can only wonder if any of that would have ever come to light if Cobain hadn't overdosed, and Grohl was never able to get out from behind his shadow.

Finally, to paraphrase the legendary Billy Campion, Grohl playing drums on this track is like adding a little cocaine to the tequila!

  • whos playin the flute at 1:13?i cant even hear it over everything else goin on

  • @HabeasCorpus420 looks like alain johannes

  • Josh had an earring?! I never knew that! Glad he got rid of it...

Anyways, awesome lineup, awesome song. Dave is my favorite drummer of all time :D

  • @hre010 if you want to see some more of joshua's legendary earringselection watch the Bizarre 98 QOTSA show... o.O

  • @Kyussist He got rid of the earrings, now he only needs to get rid of the newly grown beard as well... One down, one to go. And yes, the Bizarre 98... o.O

  • this video is super quiet... i love cranking up my music on here and this isnt doing it lol

  • dave is awesome, so is josh

  • Dave IS drums.

  • Dave Grohl = BEAST LEGEND MILF

  • @svveett

    Beast leg-

    wait...

    WHAT THE FUCK?!

  • @svveett

    dude, wtf was that?

  • dave is a mad man on the drums

  • love qosta and dave. "josh plays the guitar as if he were playing drums" -dave grohl

  • he did start a new band with josh homme from qotsa.they call themselves them crooked vultures saw them on rar this year. dave was so great on the drums

  • 1:24 - 1:27

  • way to fast........must be some good blow backstage.....

  • Dave is the shit on drums, he embarasses Taylor Hawkins as a drummer.. Dave is the real drummer of that band he writes all the music. Grohl should just leave the foo and start another band on drums where he belongs.

  • @ufreak That's crazy talk. Rock God Rule #1: Dave does what he wants when he wants.

  • @ufreak he did... Them Crooked Vultures?

But yes I agree it should be permanent

  • @ufreak yep, he was born to play the drums, wish he would realize that or maybe he likes being frontman too much :( BOO

  • Dave Ghrol... Legend.

  • @DuDuDi4u, Dave Grohl is amazing, you suck!

  • flute? alright, okay.

  • messed up lyrics, no prob!

  • josh gets the starts wrong, he starts with pills not rules

  • Well i like Grohl but honestly he sucks as Singer / Guitar Player. The Foo Fighters are so aweful just boring stadium rock. Well i have to admit his drumming is quiet good.

Josh Homme on the other side is a true "Master of Rock" from the first Kyuss Rekords to the latest Them Crooked Vultures he does just perfect.

Imo Homme gets not enough reputation for his amazing work.

  • @DaDuDi4u thats your opinion. i cant imagine the foo fighters being so awful and being succesful at the same time, particuarly with a singer and guitarist who 'sucks'.

  • @ELMcADAM A band being successful does not automatically mean a band are any good. With the Foo Fighters I'd say their relative popularity is down to the fact Grohl's in the line-up. If he weren't there they'd be bagged as the banal stadium rockers they are.

  • @DaDuDi4u ya, foo is just boring mainstream arena rock although the first album was quite good

  • dave grohl looks worn out, but he nvr quits

dats y he has alot of fans

    U DA BEST DAVE

  • anyone notice homme didn't sing this song correctly. the first verse he says get these rules to follow, how they stick in your throat. hahaha

  • dave rips another asshole for the drum set in this song,he is awesome.

  • lol, love the video, especially the extremely weird camera work, i really need 14 different angles of Josh from the left only and an extreme close up of his face. What a killer performance though, thanks for posting!

  • im gonna get like 100 thumbs down, but i dont give a damn who the drummer is in QOTSA. joey, alfredo, and dave all sound good live. anyway amazing band and cant wait for a new album from them whenever that is.

  • member*

  • Whoa... I think this is the first QOTSA video I've seen where Nick is wearing a shirt but another band members is not. Awesome.

  • Dave Grohl is the god of Drums!

  • Absolutely! The man really gets the *pulse* of the music.

  • woah... i love dave so much

didnt realize how fit he was...

towards Seagerash's comment, he reminds me of the Monster in the Muppets

hes an epic drummer aswel tbh

  • Having Alain play the flute is inspired genius!

  • Indeed. Josh is actually an excellent arranger. If you listen carefully to QOTSA recordings there are all kinds of little touches -- sometimes as simple as a few claps -- that add a lot to the overall sound.

  • hahahaha i see what you mean fifadevil, Dave grohl is king!!!!!

  • From the side with that ear ring Josh Homme looks a bit like Elton John, but without the specs lol =P

  • dave grohl is an absolute monster

  • Hehe, Josh is screwing up the lines in the beginning...

  • I think Dave Grohl is fantastic, though I hate most of his music xD

This however, is so damn great.

  • fucking great band and song !

  • I'm not sure if he purposely switched the beginning of the first two verses, but they don't seem to work interchanged.

  • Comment removed

  • Hope you're kidding, he used to play in nirvana :P

  • @loffeman1154 oh lol i just got into rock a little while ago

  • But you do know who nirvana is i hope :P house hold name

  • @loffeman1154 what that!!!!??? i didnt know that thats awesome!!!!!!!!!

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA dude, read a fucking book. even my 1 year old brother knows nirvana.

  • homme is a song writing god.

  • @bradtwo that cd had a big influence off dave grohl

  • @dgmaiga i agree. i love joey castillo but i think this is their best album and grohl had a lot to do with that, i wish he would tour with qotsa more this summer

  • @bradtwo Let's not forget he is also a riff composing God!

  • Love the drumming in this song! <3

  • @AlekT I can almost emulate this drumming bastard! I can play a lot of the Foo Fighters first 2 Cds. Dave is a drum god.

  • @AlekT its all the work of dave best drumer

  • LOL WTF? There's a flute in this song?!?

  • What the fuck is with all these comments about DAVE GROHL, it's fucking Josh Homme who is the mastermind behind all of this.

  • homme is a god, but did he write the drums? no. is he a drumming guru? no. so you get where we're coming from now?

  • @nickjb01 Grohl's a good drummer but there are so many better ones out there. He's very overrated. I'm sure I'll have an array of vacuous responses to this now, but the Nirvana sychophants should try listening to a vartiety of bands away from grunge and you'll discover some amazing drummers. Start with Jaki Liebezeit and Reni.

  • @MrThreshold2009 I disagree with your point that he's overrated. However, I won't act like most others and throw insults. Instead I'll check out the drummers which you mentioned. Thanks.

  • Because Mr. Grohl provides the KICK ASS drums.

  • @kareeji: As true as your comment is... this is some FINE drumming by Grohl on this song.

  • dave grohl is god

  • this is my favorite song.......and then its Born to hula..! but this one is the best..! I just cant believe how perfect this song is...there is a bass solo, a drum solo, and a guitar solo...and they alll sound good

  • Grohl is Awesome!!!

  • Anyone know why at 1:13 Alain Johannes is rocking the flute.

  • yep sure do,i got a copy of early mixes of songs for the deaf and there are several different versions of thee tunes..including No one knows with flute and brass...theres also a vocal-less mix of the title track which is fun for doin karaoke QOTSA :-)

  • why not?

  • I thought it was the studio cut dubbed over a live performance until 1:36 when some crazed fangirl shouted.

  • he also switched the first 2 lines

  • what type of ride cymbals used Dave??K ride 22"?

  • zildjian avedis 24 ride

  • dave grohl is sooo hot!!!! i luv this song!!!!!

  • Yeah I agree, I think this was the best line-up, Yeah Dave does grimace like a wounded buffallo sometimes.

  • holy crap! Nick is on bass! dont forget him guys.... he's kick ass.

and yes of course dave grohl and josh win forever

  • This is the ultimate line-up for me, also the best song (or Lost Art, I keep changing my mind). Don't remember Dave pulling stupid rock-god faces when he was in Nirvana!

  • I think that he did it, but just couldn't see it because of his long hair...

  • drawlbag : Omg lol I'm totally with ya. Lost Art and No One Knows are huge, also one the best line-ups in history for me, together with The Cream line-up and maybe the Them Crooked Vultures with Dave, Josh and John Paul Jones ex-Zeppelin.

  • he can look constipated lol

  • Nothing strikes fear into the hearts of men quite like Dave Grohl's drumming face

  • @Truckalicious you know when you've totally got the rhythm down, pedals perfect, cymbals all going, all synced up...you've got to have that face. it's brilliant.

  • good

  • Dave rocks! :D

  • One of the best songs ever and a big shout to a band called Sam Sarra from Hamburg who do a kick ass version of this, Ive never heard a better cover

  • they are truely gods of rock

  • Dave Grohl True master of Rock

  • @shinmiroku Hell yeah!!!!!!!!!

  • Dave Grohl is beast.

  • Josh Homme and Dave Grohl are just made of and for Rock!

  • Dave Grohl rocks!

  • AHA daves monkey face!!

BEST MUSICIAN EVER!!, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Tenacious D and QOTSA!!!

This song is dave's masterpiece for sure! lol

  • Awesome video! So many great musicians have passed through this band. Nothing against Joey Castillo (he's awesome) but it's a treat to see Dave on the drums.

  • Haha... grohl looks evil. Fasterr, fasterr!

  • PQP

    Puta que PARIU!

  • Dave Grohl is the rock god of everything! Foo Fighters forever!

  • Dave Grhol = OG!!!

  • dave grhol master of ALL

  • OH Sweet !! billlion of party with this band INside!! I love this Style ! thx to You Queen OF the stone ages!

  • my son drums and is totally into his metal but even he admits to grohl being a massive influence on him and his peers!

  • Dave Grohl is such a great influence to me!

He's the reason why I started playing the drums :)

  • dude he mixed up the verses! haha

  • Man Grohl can drum!! One real rockclassic for sure!

  • this is faster than normal :P i think

  • Where is Troy?

  • not

    in

    the

    band

    at

    the

    time

  • everything

  • to comments on Grohl saying he never will play drums again, thts not true he doesnt actually like playin them as much because he hated being known as "that drummer from Nirvana". and besides hes an amazing frontman who can play any instrument he wants, this guy could make a clarinet sound kool. however when he does drum hes bloody good, like at wembley june 7th 2008 he drummed to Led Zep like a GOD.

  • lol... he say it :P in my dreams :P

    xD

    just kidding xP

  • even though that Dave promised after Kurt's dead that he would never play drums again in his life... im ok with this (he playing with Queen of the stone or Tenacious D).... cause he is an amazing drummer.... and well he had to continue his life without Nirvana...

  • Uh, when did he promise that? I think you have your facts wrong, friend.

  • no no no, thats what they said in a documentary... i mean not him.... but thats what i heard... and i guess there was a video somewhere in youtube... and there were a lot of discussing xD...

  • Well, I wouldn't put any stock in that then. A lot of false things have been said about Nirvana and its members over the years. Dave never said that. He would never say that. He loves drumming too much.

  • yeah but its somehow some true... cause after nirvana he only played with Queen of the Stone and Tenacious D.... but of course.... who would like to play the drums all the day like before when it makes you remember someone who died... and its true what you said... the media used nirvana to get some more of popularity... well those years at least...

  • Well, he was kind of busy with Foo Fighters. It's not like he has tons of time. He's played drums on many albums for other artists though over the years. And he even played drums with Tom Petty in late 1994 on an episode of SNL. It's not true at all. Sorry. Don't believe anything unless it came right out of Dave's mouth.

  • ohhhhh lol... true ... xP

  • the first two foo albums are entirely dave grohl on the drums, with the exception of one part on The Colour and the Shape that has one from William Goldsmith..

  • ohhhh i thought that Taylor was since the beggining in the band ^^U

  • before the foos, Taylor Hawkins was playing for Alanis Morrissette's band. he's in the video for you oughta know

  • he did ALL of it the first time around

  • I have this version on the SFTD-special edition DVD. I like this version...

  • Most under-rated band ever.Hopefully the Rock n' roll Hall of Fame will put Josh in someday.I wont hold my breath though,it took'em over 30yrs to put Sabbath in.

  • You're only eligible 25 years after your first official recording. So really it only took a little over 5 years until they put in an eligble Sabbath.

  • i think in like 15 years, rockers will look at Dave Grohl like how rockers look at lemmy now.

  • ok Foo Fighters isnt anywhere close to Nirvana and Queens of the stone age, but they do have a few good songs like "times like these" and "my hero" and "all my life"

  • you know people who hit there heads on walls/desks? i never knew why people did that. ever since reading your comment, i now know why.

  • maybe less than15years...

  • OMG QOTSA sound so perfect in their live sets. They are sooooo amazing. One of the best live bands in the world.

  • God Dave makes me so pumped. Makes me want to take up drums!

  • It seems like Dave is half the size of Joey but he hits twice as hard. Mabye he actually isnt but.... Dave just seems like he's trying to kill something ever time he hits.

  • I got a better analogy.

Joey is like a controlled beast, he hits hard and he does it in swift hits.

Grohl is like an unleashed beast, he just lets loose on his kit and hits as hard as he can.

Grohl doesn't have the strength of Joey but he definitely puts everything he has into a performance.

Personally, I think Joey fits QotSA more then Grohl. Grohl was in QotSA for 3/4ths an album in the studio and a few months on tour. Joeys got much more experience with them. Both are bad ass guys tho.

  • By the way, I wasn't bashing Grohl.

Most of my playing on drums is pretty much inspired by Grohl and Castillo.

  • what makes you say that? The Songs For the Deaf album is so inspiring to rock drummers, and arguably queens best album...If it weren't for Grohl on the kit, I don't think the album would be on the same level as it is...To me, even though Joey is a great drummer, he's kind of generic and not nearly as creative as Grohl...If Grohl was their full time drummer all of their albums since SFTD more be more creative and well rounded...

  • has anyone noticed that the lyrics are wrong at the beginning?

  • yeh lol nice spot!! credit for josh- thts a true performer- keeps goin with the subtle variation of the lyrics- and the crowd are none the wiser!!!
