The majority of MMA fighters have taken steroids at one time or another. That doesn't mean that they don't train hard. Most are just careful not to get caught.
Royce is a great fighter but appears to have poor genetics for body building I'm sure he's tried to get big naturally thru out his years but simply can't I would not hold it against him if he took steroids.
@cerelilqt steroids are used for many different reasons, as mentioned by kanguesso. bjj is about technique - correct, but having extra strength, conditioning and power while staying within your weight class is absolutely beneficial in any grappling ma.

Condsidering how corrupt the Japanese MMA scene was with the Yakuza clan and all... I would not put it past them for tampering with Royce's test results. Just saying, it could have happened.
There are many forms of Steroids and they can be used for many different reasons in many different ways. You can use it to recover faster from injury, training sessions and to keep yourself physically fit. It doesn't always mean that if you're juicing you're automatically have to bulk up. So, Royce should have unequivocally denied it instead of this beating around the Bush he did to come up with that answer.

Educate yourself on why athletes take steroids. Their primary benefit is an increase in endurance. Thats why they are so prevalent in Track & Field and bicycle racing. You see any built up racers in the Tour De France? They are perfect for the endurance demands of MMA.

He's a peaceful man with a healthy family and a very diverse lifestyle. What he's saying about the fruits ans his diet is 100 percent legitimate. Google the steroid before you post crap. Royce Gracie is trying to convince me that he didn't use steroids by talking about weight gains? Steroids don't make you gain weight. Steroids aren't a magical drug that turn you into a bodybuilder. Heavy weights and heavy dieting turn you into a body builder. Look at Lance Armstrong. He took steroids and he's as thin as a toothpick. Your body will conform to whatever you make it conform to. If a soccer player takes steroids he's not going to look like a linebacker. Sorry Royce - We know better.

There are many forms of Steroids and they can be used for many different reasons in many different ways. You can use it to recover faster from injury, training sessions and to keep yourself physically fit. It doesn't always mean that if you're juicing you're automatically have to bulk up. So, Royce should have unequivocally denied it instead of this beating around the Bush he did to come up with that answer.

The reason Royce was chosen to represent them in UFC was because of his lack of size and international titles. He was the best advertisment for Gracie Jui Jitsu. Educate yourself on why athletes take steroids. Their primary benefit is an increase in endurance. Thats why they are so prevalent in Track & Field and bicycle racing. You see any built up racers in the Tour De France? They are perfect for the endurance demands of MMA.

We know he tested positive on the Sakuraba fight, and that may have been the reason, to take down saku who was defeating the gracies one after another.
It doesn't mean he took them his entire career that is highly unlikely, very improbable.

He's a peaceful man with a healthy family and a very diverse lifestyle. What he's saying about the fruits ans his diet is 100 percent legitimate. Google the steroid before you post crap. It can be present in the human body naturally and there are several ways a urine test can have a false positive. And even the best mma fighters don't like losing.
