I didn't know until "Roberto Maiolo" (a great tango's dancer & teacher) told me, that LA CUMPARSITA is the first song that open the party or show or event or competition and it is the last song to close it.

Actually, Matos Rodriguez was from Uruguay. Tango was born in Río de la Plata, which divides Argentina and Uruguay, that's why some songs are said to be argentinian and really are from Uruguay and the other way about.
